Hello everyone.
I have Yakju Galaxy nexus just bought it a month ago. Its version is 4.0.4 few days ago I got a message to update to JB so I started the update but when it restarts the phone I get a green android with something like a jewel in his stomach and a loading bar below it. But just after few seconds (the loading bar didn't finish) the android fall on his back with a red triangle and exclamation mark ! In it then the phone started with the same software. What is the problem and what should I do to get JB. Btw the update file size was 144.9 mb and am on the stock not rooted
And i have important data that i don't want to lose
Try again? Do you have an SD card? Are you almost full on space?

Try downloading the update again. Make sure you have a good data connection (wifi is best). The file may not have downloaded properly.
The Android you saw is not an error, it's just in recovery mode, meaning it's updating the system software. Be patient and let it finish. When it's done, go into settings>about phone, and check the android version.. Good luck!

I did try many times with the same thing happened. I have no SD card cuz the galaxy nexus doesn't has a slot for sd card but i have more than 5gb free space
As Zepius said above, you must be 100% stock for the ota to apply.
i.e.If you switched to yakju and didn't flash the matching radio you must do so.

If you haven't flashed your phone, there's a good chance it not actually a yakju build. My phone was originally a yakjuwx build or something of the sort...
Could you please take a screen shot of your 'about phone' screen, and just to make things really easy in determining what build your phone is -
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.cbruegg.officialupdate
Download "GN official update checker" from the play store (it's not really official from Google, but it checks if you have an official Google build and will be getting direct OTA updates from them rather than Samsung builds, such as my phone's original build)
In any case, it doesn't require any permissions, so just download it and tell me what it says your build is...

Sorry I couldn't find the program you mention but here is my screenshot
Btw I can tell its yakju cuz I remember I found in the internet something said to open a file from your system which I can't remember but when I open it I found it is yakju
I added a photo from Google maps setting which is said yakju device
Well, you're right, you have a yakju build. Bad news is I have no idea what's wrong with the system update, no reason it shouldn't be working...
Only thing I can suggest is to get in the game Unlock your bootloader, root, and and flash it on your own. Sorry I can't be much more helpful beyond that.

As was mentioned earlier, there is something on your device that is not stock. You can't tell what it is when you use the stock recovery. You need to try to flash the update via CWM, and it will tell you exactly where it fails. See the "update" link in my signature for instructions.

As of right now T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 known as SGH-T999UVLEM is upgrading to a newer Version which is SGH-T999UVLH2
I don't think the over the air (OTA) mode is working right now because I did many tries and it keep saying device up to date so if you want to try it us KIES. if you version of KIES is not up to date you will have to update it first then you will be able to upgrade the phone.
it will take about 10 to 15 minutes of your time and it will depend on your connection.
everything like root will be gone after the update. :victory:
ok after you update, you will be able to go back and use the same method you use to to root the older version and install a different boot.
mine is working fine I don't find any problem yet.

Just reflash the custom recovery in Odin and flash the root file. Unless you mean not good for those that are running custom ROMs then that's a different story.
do the developers here give the okay to update to this, for those of us who are fully stock and not rooted? will we be able to get root easily still(with the same methods), even after this update?
Good question. I second that.

That's the Windows 98 diagnostic approach "re-install the OS and see if that fixes it"
Are you saying it works fine for you?
I'm just curious... what are the improvements? I haven't seen that question yet
I hear you, no one is reporting anything about the update and I'm wondering if it's even worth doing. I wouldn't mind updating but sometimes you don't get the results and blind updates makes me wonder anyways.
Just going from memory so may leave something out. Its been mentioned but its scattered due to so many threads about the update.
New kernel, new radio (some report grand improvements), camera updated and has new features, reportedly better stability and battery, brightness slider added to notification window.,....ugh, damn now I'm blanking out on this! I know there's more, just escaping me at the moment. Ill post more when I think of it.

FWIW, the Kies update isn't working with Win 8.
it'll install, but will close when you try to run it.
Edit: sorry I got it updated but I'm still trying to get root now and using the tool kit is out dated and I can't seem to find info for it, anyone have a way to root after latest update.
Edit 2, all set. I even foubd a few things I havent seen posted yet. We'll see if it pans out but im good.

Anytime I try to update my phone via OTA, it says connection failed (done so since I bought the phone in June). When I try to update via Kies, it says "This is the latest firmware" Current version: PDA:LG1 / PHONE:LG1 / CSC:LG1 (ATT); Latest firmware version PDA:LG1 / PHONE:LG1 / CSC:LG1 (ATT). I know there have been several updates as I'm on I747UCLG1. I was rooted, but reverted in attempt to exchange out my phone due to battery issues (which were instantly gone after returning to stock). My girlfriend also has the AT&T S3 which has always been stock and is having the same issues. Does anyone know why this is happening or a simple way to update (simple enough to explain to someone who is not tech savvy over the phone)? I just don't know why the phones show there isnt an update when there has been several.

The update after UCLG1 hasn't made it to kies. It's a staggered rollout it seems. Either that or it's been pulled.
I have the exact same issue. My phone says the server is unavailable OTA, and Kies says I have the latest firmware. I took my phone to an AT&T store, and the guys were clueless. My friend got the update on his phone and it's really no big deal, but just keep your fingers crossed it doesn't do this when Jelly Bean comes out.

I had the same issue, LG1 would only show up, couldnt get the LH9 to even show up via OTA, kept telling its is up to date.
So I ended up just grabbing the stock LH9 update.zip that gunnyman put up in another thread and just used that on the stock recovery to update it to LH9.

Thats the post to where gunnyman put the original OTA update.
Take that file, rename it to update.zip and copy it to the root of the internal storage. Then boot into STOCK recovery, not CWM (if you have CWM, you will have to put it back to STOCK recovery) and choose update via zip file, and choose that zip file, it will update just like the OTA does and be identical to stock OTA update. Then you done.

If you are asking me, then no. You need to be on stock recovery and you cannot have any FROZEN apps via Titanium Backup as the update itself is an offset patch, so it cannot find the file (because you froze it) then it will fail.

I downloaded the file and renamed it to update.zip. I saved it my internal SD card, and it's not showing up in stock recovery. Did I do something wrong? Oh yeah, if I update this way, can I still connect to Kies or will my device be "modified"?

I dont think it will work on internal, I cant remember though. I believe I put it on my External SD as I have one in there. If you have one, put it in there and it should work. It will not show "modified" on status, that only shows up if you are rooted.

Yes. This is an ORIGINAL STOCK update, its not modified in any way shape or form, so dont worry, its not going to affect your future updatability. That only gets affected when you are rooted. Updates like this one where its patch offset based, the update will fail due to when you root most people freeze apps. That fails automatically on patch offset updates.
Jellybean may be a full udpate which Kies will do.

Obviously flashing an OTA is going to unroot your phone (assuming it even installs). But it won't lock your bootloader so it will take 5 seconds to re root.
I'd rather not deal with it but I guess I'll probably have to anyway. I was just wondering if there is anyway to get rid of the message without installing it? Maybe flashing a 4.1.2 ROM?

OTA 4.2 to 4.2?
I have gsm maguro which I recently flashed stock 4.2 takju from 4.1.2 yakju.
I did not expect to be looking at an OTA update notice wanting me to update to 4.2 (which I am already on).
I would have thoght the update manager would check the build and version of my phone before offering update. Could it be that because I did an official OTA update from 4.1.1 yakju to 4.1.2 yakju that I am marked down as being on 4.1.2 now, and so is now offering 4.2 without checking the current build and version I am running.
I would like to know how to get rid of that update notification from my status bar if I can, or if I should do the update anyway. At the moment I have unlocked bootlocker but no root. I can not remember if OTA would wipe my apps and data, am guessing no as bootlocker already unlocked?
Some expert advice would come in handy. You know what an expert is yeah? X is an unknown quantity and a spurt is a drip under pressure.
Hmm, what to do. Nexus wizards, please advise. I have started downloading the 4.2.1 factory image anyways but I would still like to know what would be recommended in the situation I was in. I am fairly new, though I have learned to flash stock roms with adb, and have stuck with stock roms for the moment while I get the hang of things. Not sure if I get updates from google now or from Samsung. Am guessing google, but then why would google not offer to update me to 4.2.1 seeing as it is now out rather than to 4.2?

When this gentleman says "Its for 4.2.1" I am guessing that he is saying the update which reads
"This software will upgrade your Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.2 Jellybean..." is actually the 4.2 to 4.2.1 OTA update, just not marked properly?
I just love it when things are marked incorrectly, makes life so much less confusing? They should always do that to keep me in a continuous state of bewliderment. New google policy, mark every file with the name of the file which preceeds it, except on Sundays, when they should be marked in any manner whatsoever.
Thanks for the answer bloke. You are the bees knees. I did kind of have an inkling that it might be 4.2.1. Crazy boyz and girlz. Just mad. Somewhere between irrational, nearly right, not correct, and just plain silly.
Once the firmware is installed, users will have the ability to offload their app installs to the SD card. That's especially important for 16GB device owners who were upset to find that they had just 9.15GB of usable space on the device's storage. Moving apps to the SD card can save some of the needed space. Samsung has also found a way to squeeze another 0.08GB of space on the device's drive, according to SamMobile, which was first to report on the news.
In addition to handling the storage issue, the software update for the Galaxy S4 includes a host of fixes and improvements, including the ability to record HDR video and a fix for the purple effect users were seeing when scrolling through pages.

Nah, T-mobile DID send me the update, the very day i purchased my phone, like May 7th or 8th, I had the incremental update that i noticed changed my transparent notification bar to like charcoal black. I had noted the dates as April 26 before the update, and May 6-7 on the newer update.
It's just I decided to try CF Auto-Root, once i realized i just wanted things back to the way i had it, yes, I BOUGHT triangle away, ran the reset flash counter, saw my status on rom read custom, so i flashed the official stock tar by odin and now it says i'm on official.
Issue now is, although my counter is at 0, and the status says official, won't ota to may 7th. I will try Samsung Kies though.
Edit: Even Samsung Kies Reports i'm up to date, which, i suppose I am for the most part, but still not up to date with the incremental May 7th release.

Which official tar did you Odin? If it was the MDL build that is the may 7 update so that's why your phone would say up to date.
woops.

Oh wow, really? Yeah.. it's the MDL update.. gosh, how could i have made that mistake..
(just for reference to everyone else, i mean i odin'd this:

where it says "Download UVUAMDL Official TAR" )
See what I was looking at thinking I was behind was the kernel version..
I got so used to seeing the kernel get updated whenever a new update rolls out on my old phone that I had no idea the may 7th update didn't bring a newer kernel.
Yes. I have MDL on baseband/modem and on the build number. Thing that was throwing me off was paying attention to the kernel version as Friday, April 26, also, i could of sworn the homescreen status bar isn't supposed to be transparent, but mine is, looking back at how it wasn't transparent before last time i was on the may 7th build, now that it's transparent on some things, i just got really confused. might of been the old background i had before, seeing to it that it's clear on homescreen now, and charcoal black when i open settings.
What I did to get an I9505 Odin build on my M919 was just flash the firmware, wait for it to fail at modem, then odin flash the UVUAMDL modem. Reboot and everything is perfect (except the Samsung Knox modified notification, of course).

Hi guys,
Actually i have a galaxy nexus gt I9250M running 4.4.2 Cyanogenmod. I accidentally deleted my phone official 4.0.4 Rom backup. Now i want to make it official. I know to use Odin properly to make my phone official but the problem is i cant find my phone official Rom. I searched samfirmware website but i cant understand which file to choose. As i installed 4.4.2 Rom on my nexus. I cant use the *#1234# code for knowing my PDA. My base band version is TDVLH1. If anyone knows about selecting the right firmware plz help me. I cant check it by Samsung kies as it says my phone model is incorrect.
Thanks,
Computech_pc
I dont see why you want but just use fastboot to return to stock. Download the right factory image and flash it.

Yea, what he said...times a thousand!
You MIGHT be able to use Odin... but why... just use fastboot and the correct package from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Note there are two different maguro sections. You can find your specific one via looking at information in the Bootloader(power and both volume buttons at same time will bring you to bootloader/fastboot mode)

Official? No. Custom roms? Probably but maybe not. I heard it is only a camera update or something like that.

I even put the link in my reply buddy!
if you are unsure which one you need from that page, it is going to be a maguro package.
I think there are two different ones for maguro, takju and yakju or something. you can find out which one u have I believe within the bootloader menu, it should have all relevant info listed in bottom left of screen
I have a gnex sch-i515 I'm having trouble with the drivers when I hook my phone up to my pc. I went to Samsung's website and downloaded the only driver listed for the sch-i515. Tried to install but it didn't work after a minute of searching a screen pops up saying please insert the disc that came with your phone. Iv searched xda hopping someone could help me out but no luck yet. I wish that there was a video showing exactly how to unlock the Verizon Galaxy Nexus sch-i515 running 4.2.2 stock
