Hi! Just want to know which bluetooth headsets are compatible with PDA2K. I spent a lot of time in the shop yesterday, but for the life of me, I couldn't get the SE HBH-600 or the Nokia HDW-2 to work with it.
The HBH-600 got paired, but as soon as a call connected, the audio was switched to the handset, with the headset being disconnected. As soon as the call was dropped, the connection to the headset was resumed.
As for the HDW-2, I couldn't get it to connect. I really need a bluetooth headset pronto, because of the incidences of cellphone-snatching here in Karachi, so please could you guys help me out ASAP? Thanks in advance!
Hi There,
I use the Jabra 250 without any problems
Cheers
Pointy
I have tried 4 different headsets with the Blue Angel.
The current winner is the Cardo Scala 500...which is nice because its also the cheapest.
I'm using the older Sony Ericsson HBH-35 with mine and seems to work just fine. My only problems are that the battery on this one is dying a bit lately, but that's hardly the phones fault!
I am using the G2 Bluetrek as sold in O2 shops under the O2 brand.
Works...intemittently...sometimes great - sometimes very noisy - sometimes it looses connection! I also find that it seems to go to the highest volume setting at the start of every call which hurts my ears!

Well I have been using a Plantronics M3000 on BT Builds 3500 and then 3900 without any problems
Hallo!
I am using SE HBH 300, works fine with BT Builds 3500.
My older BT-headset Jabra 300 did´not worked, (could not answer 90% of the calls)
/M
Hi.
Im using the HBH 600 with both BT Build 3500 & 3900.
I dont experience any troubles with the 3900 build, only the poor range and sometimes a little crackling sound, but this seems to be the same for all BT headsets with the BA.
You can get the Build 3900 from the ftp in BlueAngel/Cab_files/Bluetooth Upgrades/bt3900.cab
I am using the Nextlink Bluespoon AX. Works fine for me.
R
I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-660 Akono and works great (except for the fact that the headset's display just shows the number and not the name...)
Joao Caldeira
I'm using the Jabra BT800, and it works perfectly, except for the caller ID showing just the number, and an annoying amount of static when going through an solid object (like my head :roll.
This is with bluetooth build 3500, and all the other headsets I've tried with this phone (SE HBH-65, HBH-300) have exhibited exactly the same problems with static through objects... would appear that the phone isn't giving the signal enough juice, or something? :?
Chris
Just took my old G2 to the O2 store and complained about it being so crap. They replaced it with a new O2 (Bluetrek?) one. Inital opinion is that it is a little better but not a lot - still noisy and complaints of it sounding bad from the other end.....
I'm using the Motorola HS810 and it works just great, actually after a soft reset the volume on the headset is too loud !
HBH-65 seems to work ok for me.
bosjo, it's good to hear that you have got the HBH-600 working. I am unable to do so. I had build 3500, but upgraded to 3900 after reading your post. Still no difference. I had noticed before that when I monitored the headset connection using Bluetooth Manager -> Active Connections, the status would be showing me a full signal, and intermittently, it would become red, meaning that the signal would keep going to zero, and coming back to full. This was even when the phone was hardly 6 inches away from the headset, in line of sight. I'm going to return my bluetooth headset tomorrow, and I wonder if I should get my handset replaced as well. I'm worried that since the problem wasn't fixed by the 3900 build, something may be wrong with my bluetooth radio hardware. Anyways, I am open to suggestions.
Look @ this... might help

I have a Bluespoon AX that works perfectly!!
Before that I had a Nokia HDW-2, it worked good too!
Hi all,
It seems the Nextlink Bluespoon AX gets a good press here with the XDA2s - so, where did you guys buy yours???
R
I'm using a bluespoon ax but mine definitely has that crackling sound. I'm using 1.0.0.3900. However, it's definitely not the headset because I've tried it with a magician and it works absolutely fine - friends told me it sounded the same as if I was speaking through the phone.
Sounds like the XDA2s bt stack still needs a lot of work - lets hope a rom upgrade comes out soon which mproves it - there realy is no excuse O2!!!

i have an xda 2s with 1.13 radio and latest btooth stack and 1.31xxx rom
hi - its my first post over here but like many others been visiting for a while
my question is...
What range do you get with your BT Headset and if you have it in your left pocket and the headset on your right ear - does it work ok
i have a jabra bt250v and it is crap (yehhh yehhh read the threads here after i bought it :x and crackle continuosly)
which headset works best and at what range / distance (ps the jabra doesnt get more than 2 feet! - is this an xda 2s issue)
thanks in advance
I'm sorry to inform u bro that ur bluetooth headset is well functioning, and there's no problem with it....It's the BA bluetooth hardware that sucks!!!!!
This issue(BA bluetooth hardware) was discussed in many forums(not only xda-developers),with no avail unfortunately...(HTC is busy developing new devices, and not giving a $h*t to older ones like BA)
so bro, look no further for a bluetooth headset....it's not the cause.....
RAGO
darn
my wifes k700i phone works upto 30 feet away through 2 brick walls too
i was going to buy another headset but may sell this for a treo 650
really need a reliable hands free pda/phone
i thought the bluetooth transmitter was poor - seems i was right
its wierd as my navman bluetooth works 15 feet away - what gives

i really want to hang onto this xda 2s if possible
tell me your experience
cheers
My Motorola 820 works 2-3 metres away, but no more than that. Its good enough for use in my car, so I'm not to worried

Yes, me too, BT250 phone one side. headset the other and it is crap.
It was soooo disapointing as my 2 previous Jabras were super, my BT100 working 40 feet from the phone I had at the time.
WEASEL
do you get static with the headset if it isnt in line of view
i can literally hold my hand upto my ear while being 2 feet away and it loses the sugnal
how does the 820 compare
Firstly, a correction; I have a HBH-300, not a HBH-820 (that's what my wife has) - my mistake
With the HBH-300, I get little or no static, but can have problems if the headset is not near line of sight e.g. if my phone is in my trouser pocket, I sometimes get disconnected. Whenin my car, I don't have a problem irrespective of which ear I use the headset in
Me too.... doesn't know abt this after i bought Moto H700, at 1st i thou sometime wrong with the earpiece, but nw i know is xda2s...really disapointed !!
what about this one does it enhance the bt

?? Apart from possible time lag issue for answering call, I thought Jabra BT800 was praised for use with Exec (and XDA IIs) ??
Anyone heard anything to corroborate above?
I'll sell you mine. I used it for the first time today and I think my ear is a little small for it.
I bought it on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5827236759&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1) just the other day and I had a problem with the cover so I RMA'd it. I received a new one, which is fine, yesterday and used it for the first time today.
I have one as well.
Works very well, but I dont use it, so for a reasonable offer, I can send it with all the bits.
Jabra had a batch though thats all.
>>I had a problem with the cover<< - this may be what the company were referring to.
if by problem with the cover you mean the front cover came off, the same thing happened to the one i brought off of eBay! so i sent it back and got a new one, then the front came off of that when i used it for an hour. I put a bit of glue on the one connecting joint and its been perfect ever since!!
I noticed another strange thing with my BT800.
My customers can hear some of my ringtone when I answer a call via the headset. Now, you may think this is not big deal, but when your ringtone is the song, "I like to move it, move it.", this can be a BAD thing!
I have a Motorola 850 and this isn't an issue.
I thought that MS Voice Command was causing the problem due to the annoucing but it doesn't happen w/ the MoTo 850.
Now, the BT800 is supposed to be upgradable so I'd like to see Jabra put out an update to fool the universal into thinking it's a stereo device. Maybe then Voice Command will work via BT. (That is if my understanding of the problem is correct.)
I just recieved mine today didnt even get out of the box in one piece, faceplate problem again.
What a crock of $hit :x
I think this is a better option than the Jabra BT800. They both have displays and cheaper too:
http://www.tekkeon.com/site/products-ez3000.php
I would like to see that headset on someones head. See if it looks good. Only thing I dont like is the fact that the OLED screen is on the outside of the headset so everyone can see what number your calling. Though it looks like its a lot better than Jabra.
Bought an Omnia a few days ago. Actually bought 2, but first one returned cause I thought it was defective.
Problem happens when I try to use my BT headphone. No problem in pairing, but as soon as I initiate (or receive) a call, I get an awfull noise (or buzz if you like) strong enough that it makes the headphone unuseable. As I said I had the same problem with both Omnias. I had this headphone (Nokia BH-101) for many months now and never had any problem.
I tried on 2 PDA and one smartphone without problem, so it kinds of rule out a headphone defect. Hard for me to believe both phones are defective on arrival, and showing the same problem on top of that, so also seems to rule out a phone problem. Incompatible???
Anybody ever had this kind of problem on an Omnia phone or any combination of phone/headphone?
Thanks for any helpful hint.
It might help if you posted which bluetooth headphone, but yes, I've seen cases in which a particular headset and phone were just incompatible.
I did put the model in my original post, but here it is again for quick identification: Nokia BH-101.
If anybody have this pairing (Omnia and Nokia BH-101), please let me know the result, good or bad!!!
Thanks
sounds familiar
I recentlyy bought a Jawbone 2 and i get a really loud buzzing intermitently when using it with my Mogul running nuerom titan build .Ive exchanged the headset and still have the issue but my otherr 2 bt earpieces work fine. Any help would be awesome Thanks.
I tried making a Froyo 2.2 bug list, but it didn't catch on.
Anyway, I'm still fighting with this problem. It pisses me off because b4 2.2 my BT audio was fine. Now I have to use a wired headset and it sucks!
I have two seperate Jawbone earpieces. Both worked fine until the Froyo upgrade.
I'm running the official 2.2 from Sprint.
During a call, audio cuts out on my end, that is, I can't hear the other person, but they can hear me.
Then, just as mysteriously, it comes back!
No one else is complaining so either nobody else uses BT, or something is wrong with my update!
Have you tried a different Bluetooth headset other than a jawbone?
No. I have not. It doesn't make sense to, as far as I'm concerned.
Two headsets, both worked fine with Android 2.1. The difference is the phone's OS, not the head sets.
Feel Your Pain
Hi,
My Verizon Droid 2 w/ Froyo originally worked fine w/ all my (5+) bluetooth headsets.
Sometime recently, I noticed that my Sennheiser VMX 100 icon is missing and I can no longer pair with it.
Droid2 continues to pair with all my stereo headsets but not the non-A2DP
(non-stereo,non-music) Senn VMX.
The VMX does pair just fine with my desktop.
==============================================
(MotoRokr S9-HD, Plantronics BackBeat 906, Jabra BT8030,
Nokia BH-505, Cellular Innovations)
BTW, I think the Plantronics Backbeat 906 the best sounding 'sports' stereo.
But, all 'sports' models need memory-foam replacement buds to stay in my ear.
The Nokia BH-505 was settling in as the best 'all-around' sports model,
mainly for having the least worst fit with the least amount of tampering,
before it would no longer take a charge after ~ 1-2 weeks use.
The Jabra BT8030 the best 'all-around' stereo
(comfort, battery life, fit, ease, distance, etc.)
Jabra was the only non-'sports' stereo I have familiarity with.
This headset gives me the (preferrable) egg-shaped alien-head rather than the Princess Leia effect.
I've had it over a year, definitely get what you pay for with this one.
(Sennheiser VMX 100, Jabra's, Moto's, Nokia's, et al., but no Plantronics)
Sennheiser VMX 100 (suprised me) best 'all-around' non-stereo
(fit,noise pentration,ease)
My experience over time has been, Moto excels @ ease of use,
Jabra @ comfort, and everyone else wins the fidelity/noise contest,
Nokia's most stylish but least dependable service life (along w/ 'off' brands).

Feel Your Pain
Hi,
Just remembered I have A GE Cell Fusion setup
(wireless home phone that makes/receives calls on your cell line via bluetooth) that continues to work fine with the Droid2.
So, guess mine's not so much an A2DP vs. non-A2DP problem.
Regards,
I have since tried FOUR different earpieces from THREE different manufacturers, all with the same results.
I have wiped the phone twice, still the problem remains.
I have called HTC twice. The first time they told me to purchase a different earpiece. The second time they said to wipe the phone and report back.
I reported back, and will post the result of that memorable conversation below.
This is wonderful.
Called HTC for the third time. They put me on hold, then came back and told me that, because the Bluetooth connects, and I am able to hear part of the conversation, there is nothing they can do!!! They said they cannot guarantee Bluetooth will work!!!
Can you believe that???
"Hey, buy our products. We just can't guarantee they will work!"
Great business philosophy.
So I proved to them it is their product at fault and not the different ear pieces I've tried. And it only started AFTER Froyo. Before that it worked great.
And they basically told me to go frack myself.
Well, seeing as so many people are on pins and needles waiting for the next installment of my continuing saga...
I went to Sprint and they re-installed Froyo themselves. They tried the BT for a few minutes and since it worked fine, declared nothing wrong with the phone. The problem however, often doesn't appear for 30 to 45 minutes. Or it can happen only a couple of mins into a call.
They ordered a new phone for me and two days later I picked it up. It took a few hours, but this device has the same BT issue as the original.
I am dumbfounded that this issue isn't being reported by more than one other person!!!
My only recorse now (and remember, I have tried THREE different BT devices from THREE different manufacturers) is to purchase yet another BT earpiece. That will have to wait though, until I get the $
i am having this problem too
my bluetooth stereo worked flawlessly until the 2.2, then the phone bt won't pick up the mic at all, i can hear the other person fine but they hear nothing. it's now totally useless. And the media bt is choppy for the first 3 minutes or so of connection where before it would auto connect solid immediately. Oh, and the auto-connect no longer works, i have to manually connect whenever I start the car. It has me really upset.
I don't use an earpiece because i still haven't found a low-profile one that can play music (media bt) -- any suggestions? I have a plantronics 975 i got just for this phone, and much to my dismay, it doesn't seem to be able to connect to anything besides phone. worthless!
any causes or fixes yet??
Well, seeing as how HTC and Sprint don't believe there is a problem, I assume we'll have to live with it.
And the lack of xda members complaining about it, I suspect the "fix" will be changing to a different phone.
I guess there aren't a lot of members using BT earpieces. I'll again mention this happened even with the latest Jabra STEREO headphone, so not sure there is any difference between the two.
I'm having the same problem on a dell BT Stereo headset with an HTC Incredible from Verizon. Had no problems on 2.1
There is a Bug reported in the Android Buglist:
http code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2807 (can't post an outside link as a new user here.)
Try turning off wifi when listening to audio.
obviously not the best solution in some situations, but it solved my problem for now.
OMG! Thanks!!!
I thought I was going crazy. So this is listed on the Android Buglist? And HTC claims no one else has complained.
I'm going to go check it out. If turning off WiFi helps, I'd be very gratefull. A workaround is better than what I've been going through. I love this phone.
Edit: Well, you got me excited, but that issue doesn't appear to be the same. First off, it started a year b4 2.2 came out.
Second, they seem to be talking mostly about stereo music listening problems. Also, they're talking about BT actually disconnecting - mine never disconnects. Even when I can't hear the other person, they continue to hear me. This suggests BT is still connected.
However, I will take notice as to whether my issue is affected by WiFi. It would be nice if that worked for me as well.

HTC's buglist and Google's buglist for android OS aren't the same.
And not that it helps your situation any, but I use my BT headset for over an hour EVERY DAY, some days many more than that and haven't experienced what you're describing.
Thanks. I realize they are two different companies, but it seems that customers would have complained to them by now.
There's an update supposedly coming tomorrow. Maybe it'll be a good day for you to wipe and start over from scratch and see if the problem goes away???
HTC's forums are here: http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/94.aspx
You can browse around and see if others have reported your issue there.
Coming from where? HTC? Google? Sprint?
What update? huh? tmrw = 9/23/10?
Where did you hear about an update? what's being updated, software? sense? htc? Android 2.3 for Evo exclusive?
This is not the same issue as some have with wi-fi on, as i understand it from the original poster, and def not my issue.
Why, evo, why? i want so bad to love you so much
Well, two days after the update, the problem remains. However, I have been testing with the WiFi off, and as long as I keep Wifi off, no problem... so far.
I turned WiFi on and made a call, and within a minute or two it happened again. As soon as I turned the WiFi off (during the call), I was able to hear the other party.
So it's looking more and more like an issue with the WiFi radio and the BT radio. Of course, one incident does not confirm this. I will have to give it more time to be sure.
Then the question is: who is to blame, Google or HTC???
Both my Jabra Prime and my Sony car stereo will not connect without extra help since at least the Froyo update. I have found a workaround that seems to work just fine for me, I have to put my Prime in pairing mode, than I can tell the phone to connect in the bluetooth settings w/o any issues. I can manually connect the car stereo w/o putting it in pairing mode and it works fine.
So just over two weeks and the "work around" seem's to work. I now only turn on my WiFi if I actually need it. It's still a pain though. It worked b4 in 2.1, I wonder what they broke?
Also, something new: Since that last "update", my phone sporadically re-boots for no apparent reason I can see.
