I trIed both. Stock gave me a dramatic increase in benchmark scores. Where faux has sweep to start as part of it.
Stock works well, the custom kernels are great but remember they are still running on older sources once we get an official rom release of the new base and sources are out expect the kernels to be excellent as these new stock kernels are pretty impressive on their own.

For the most custom ROMs you have to repack the kernel. However, on ViperX ROM there's no need to repack, just flash the boot.img for the kernel and install the modules in CWM.

Sweet so no repacks needed for viperx Rom just install the original custom kernels then? i.e faux123 kernal

Sorry another noob Question based off of this, but how do you know if a Rom needs a repacked kernal or not?

Yuo, no need for repack. Just download the ones from the official faux thread and you're ready to go!

If there are any ramdisk tweaks you need a repack. It's usually also stated in the OP if you need repack.

Hey guys!
I notice that a lot of people just can't choose their roms. They want to know what's the best. So i'm asking you guys if you could help me out.
I'm gonna be conducting a poll on your favourite roms! E.g. Cyanogenmod 7, Cyanogenmod 9, Cyanogenmod 10, Robotomod, ParanoidAndroid, MIUI, Speed droid, EQDKP Sense 3.5, JxMatteo Sense 3.5, Simon's Sense 3.5, HTX Zero Sense 3.5, Kimsmod Supreme, m1ndh4x3r stock rom Sense 2.1, Jikantaru XE, Hensemod 7, Wildchild, and many more. Feel free to add any rom to the poll.
Vote for your favourite rom.
Comment your favourite rom and feel free to comment to why you think this is the best.
I hope you guys would take time to answer this. This thread would help people decide on their rom.
My favorite
Hey guys! My favorite rom is EQDKP v5.0 Sense 3.5 by m1ndh4x3r. It's the most stable sense 3.5 rom i've tried.
stock
my favourite rom is my stock rom because its stable with good battery life and attractive graphics.
cm9/cm10 are good but lack of features, graphics and most bad no smoothness like stock roms.
and one of reason i just want more space for apps so i can do that with my stock rom with init.d scripts and for screenshot i have to write only two lines in build.prop easy..and also i can get 3676 antutu score on my stock rom with stock kernel..
Jelly KING
in ankieta theri no this option.
Hey! I'm sorry there's no option for Jelly King. It's fairly new so I haven't tried it yet. I can't add options the poll anymore. Maybe i'll try this rom.
I have the most fun with the BeatSSenseles mod, but i'm now playing with CM10 roms, but withe every CM10 rom, i got problems like:
Package file is invalid
Install on USB storage or SD card failed
Now i'm try a CM9 rom and hopefully i don't get these messages
Otherwise i go back to GB roms like BeatSSenseless
Cm10 marvelc fastest and smoothest rom I've tried

Stock because of good battery backup

Jelly King v1.3
Also add Jelly King v1.3 Rom by kantry123....Really awesome
My favourite is CM9.1 by Modpunk. It's really the best! But Jelly King is cool too. If author works a little more on JK - it can be smoother than CM9..
problem
hi i have just buy htc wildfire s, i want to ask if i make rom for it or kernal does it make lose my guarantee or not

Hi all, i flashed my One X to CM 10.1 Nightly, but the battery drain is awfull. I tried to flash it with the franco kernel but that made my phone stuck in BOOT. I heard of a Semaphore kernel, but i cant find one for the One X only for the Nexus 4 and SIII.....any ideas anyone
Only use aosp based kernels, and kernels for JB roms......franco/faux kernels are for ICS based roms ! Not gonna work
Try XM kernel

Yes xm kernel was the best for me in cm 10.1 roms with battery but with seadrsn rom

What does aosp based mean??
Senseless roms based on pure Google source.
aosp stands for android open source project. Mostly means that there is no HTC sense shell added
So when you are on CM10.1 you need the aosp version of the xm kernel if you wish to try that.

That will be the kernel modules or the boot.IMG you flashed.
I would suggest using the snapshot rather than nightly.

There is no other than Nikez's kernel if I'm not wrong. K3 kernel is still in development stage.

If you want smartass governor, use VJs 4.1.2 ROM v3.0.
I think that was the last version which had that governor.

Isn't there any MUIU with the new sense base?
Or with CM
ugh damn I thought made port AOSP
Build MIUI based on CM or latest 4.1.1/4.2.2 Sense base and then upload it here. We don't need this old base - it is a bit laggy :/
+1 The V5 is great, bugs are gone , but yes, the Sense 4.1.1 (this is the first 4.1.1 Sense base on official MIUI...) is really laggy... Need a newest 4.2.2 Sense or 4.2-4.3 CM base. If anyone have a time and make a port I want to be a tester.
I would love if somebody made a port, hox one of very few devices without decent miui rom
touch screen
hi i cant use touch screen after installing this rom.
however, i installed the boot.img which is in zip file.
what is the problem?

In sense based roms i the 4.1.1 is faster a bit then the 4.2.2. I think the Sense base is the problem, not the android version. The fastest MIUI's are CM based all the time, others are laggy But in Sense based roms the camera and audio is better, so...
Even if it's slower(I think it is much faster) Sense 5 have much more free RAM - I got up to 500MB free. You can't do this with 4.1.1 base.
