Whats with some people on this forum?
Anyway humpty123 lots here are ran cm9 but some development moved pretty quickly to CM10 or devs moved to SGS3 around the time we got kernel source. It seems to be stable but there were some battery life issues back in May which is the last time I checked. I ended up running AOKP instead for a bit. Check the latest thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563658
And read, read, read before you flash it. Mistakes = brick on this phone.

I have been running the alpha 6 as my daily driver for over a week now and find it to be great. It has some gps issues that there are many threads on showing how to repair, but i'm too lazy to do anything about. I just installed google now on it and am very happy with it until jb is squared away.

I try not to do phones for friends and family, I end up being tech support for them way too often. Takes time away from my own fun.

Is there anywhere to follow CM7 progress?

Seriously am dying for CM7 like many of you. just curious if there is any info. Like a place to read about any progress like a devs blog? An I understand it takes alot of time and effort. I been using CM since i put android on my vouge. I check everyday to see if it the development section. This is the longest i have gone without it since my evo. I am going threw withdrawal D:

There isn't any progress to follow, development is halted until Gingerbread Kernel source code is released and once that happens you can follow their progress at their GitHub.
dammn allright thanks for the info
I hear you man. I had cyanogen on my g1 back in the day. I really don't understand what is going on in github, not my language i guess. lol. I am waiting patiently until it comes out though. I wonder if they have fixed anything since alpha 4, or are they still on alpha 4?
The last update I read about CM7 for the Epic was they were starting from scratch with a new kernel, and they almost had it booting properly, so who knows. Guess once the source drops we'll probably see some action then..
Damn bro you had a G1 too? Maan. Remember the good old days?! We had everything. CM4 through CM7, Blur, Sense, etc... we had a lot. Now we barley have ANYTHING. I woke up this morning, I was like "Damn. I should've gotten the N1 when I was still with T-Mobile." The N1 still has development and probably will even when Ice Cream Sandwich comes out and maybe past that, and we're probably gonna get stuck. Dude. I wonder if the G1 will see Ice Cream Sandwich...?
[QUOTE=Original Android
I would think so, since it got that hc sdk port.

They have gone further than alpha 4, using some stuff from teamhacksung.. but they have to redo a lot, an start with a new kernel.. but as stated, development has halted for the most part... awaiting some colonels sauce..

Or aokp or search for evervol or decks...I mean come on really. Use the search button.
I fully recomend team kangs build 25 for the evo4g
Ive ran a few diffrent Ics For My EVO andThe one that Is the most stable with the best options that Ive tried Is Team Kangs Build 25 AOKP
http://forum.aokp.co/topic/26-rom-android-open-kang-project-supersonic-build-22/
NEXT TIME TRY SEARCHING UNDER YOUR PHONE(EVO 4G or witch ever phone your looking to MOD) IN DEVELOPMENT

You don't even have to search, there is almost always 2 or3 on the first page of the dev section.
Edit: None actually say it in their titles I guess.
Tried a few...
There are a few. As stated previously, there's Deck's, Mazwoz, AOKP linked here, and Evervolv if you google for it. The three former are based off of Evervolv, but AOKP currently has the most customization options. I've been running it as my daily for a couple weeks, and aside from a few random FC's, it's pretty smooth and stable. There are still a few things that are being worked on though, be aware (NO 4g, video recording, etc.).
I will mention also that I'm getting great battery life with AOKP, went 23 hours the other day with normal usage!

Hi every one...new A100 user here.

So Im still waiting on the shipment of a new A100 Ima give my 8 y.o. lil mama for christmas. I need enough time so I could customize it to my liking for her to use. She's pretty techy for her age so I problably will not be limiting so many things on her A100. As of now I own a Samsung Galaxy II (Hercules) rooted with a custom ROM with my own personal theme for it. I also own a 10.1" Toshiba Thrive tablet (great device) also rooted with a custom ROM and with my own personal theme. I pretty much know whats up and I understand that I better read, read, and READ before I ask that universal anoying question "What's the best ROM for my device"....BUT if there is things I need to know about this device that wont be really out there for me to read in plain view then I would appreciate any input from you people. Thx ahead and I look forward to checking out all the goodies

Here's as great thread with a ton of info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711125
Its pretty much going to give you all the info you need.
If you want something rock solid stable and everything works check out Relix flex reaper ICS ROM (probably ideal for a youngster). Set and forget it. I also recommend linuxsociety's twrp 2.2.2.1 recovery (relix already has his kernel). He implemented some tweaks to help prevent bricking.

I wouldn't call flex rock solid by far.
It as well as any cm9 based ROM have all kinds of app compatability issues. Which i don't find on CM10. Seeing as how it is for a child, they will want games, which is soley what i use my tab for. Streaming video as well.
Save yourself the headache and just flash CM10.

As of right now I still haven't checked out what ROMs are avialable for the A100. Im a fan of original-source-based ROMs so any CM based ROMs I wont be checking out unless there are issues with the before mentioned ROMs. Thx for the recomendation though! I got lots to read I know.

If by original source you mean factory, then its AOSP. CM is as based on AOSP as stock roms. Mods that devs do to CM pulls it further from its AOSP base, and is usually where the bugs come up.
Entirely up to you of course, but I wouldn't discount CM10 so easily, its been rock solid for me since source dropped and I started building my ROMs, your A100 will never feel faster. I'd be hard pressed to say any stock based ROM is more stable then cm10, and they are for sure not as fast or smooth. Just my opinion, but keep an open mind.

By original source based I meant the latest stock released by Acer for the A100. Sorry I might it said it wrong and I could see why "original" should of meant AOSP. Trust me Im gonna check a few out cuz I wanna settle with the one with least bugs no matter how tweaked it is for the fact that Im not going to be the one using it all the time.

I agree cm10 is a very nice ROM. It is what I am using now. I recommended relix due to its out of box reliability. I have some app issues on cm that are not apparent on ics, so it is all user/app dependent. Cm10 does have its bugs, but it is the latest, greatest and quickest, which is what most of us power users want.
I definitely recommend checking them both out.
I'm saying CM10 over any ICS because i am a heavy gamer on my tablet. I figured a child is going to be more interested in games than anything else.
If thats the case, nearly half my games crash on any ICS /CM9 ROM I have tried, even Acer stock.
Using CM10, I would say maybe 3 out of like 40-50 games, don't play.
ICS/CM9...half of these games crash.

So I've been reading alot. I'm really disappointed on what I've read about the A100 in terms of hardware (battery, screen responsiveness, that scary emmc bug). I'm starting to regret I ordered in the first place but it was a good deal. A while back I had read good reviews on the A500 and I thought the A100 would be no different. Oh well I really don't want to turn back now. I'll just hope for the best and hopefully I won't run into any issues that will disappoint my lil one with her Xmas gift.
As for what ROM to install, it boiled down to the two mentioned in this thread. I said before that I prefer ROMs based on the official release for that specific device (Flex Reaper I believe) just cuz I always felt it would be the most stable since it was made for that device itself. Now I keep reading that alot of you prefer CM10 but I'm not sure if it is because IT IS more stable (as in everything in the A100 that suppose to work, WORKS) or its just cuz its Jelly Bean (the newest n greatest thing) and its more customizable than ICS. I prefer for everything that suppose to work...to work. I don't like flashing a new ROMs just cuz its the newest thing out there but lets say "bluetooth" its not working as good as the ROM I had before (YES I'm still on GB on my SGSII cuz the ROM its rock solid and EVERYTHING WORKS!). Now knowing that I'm gonna give this to my 8 year old daughter, I needed to be as stable as possible. If I could get some honest opinion between these two ROMs based on what I said I would be really thankful from you great people. THX ahead!!
If you are worried about the emmc bug. Your best defense is linuxsociety's kernel in the dev section, and his twrp 2.2.2.1 recovery. He has implemented changes that could prevent the bricking. If you bought the tablet new and you get a brick, they will warranty it, just make sure you keep your serial number safe. With these bricks they can't tell or don't care about the flashing ROMs.
Seems everyones given their opinions bub.

CyanogenMod 7 Project

Hi guys,
So for the past week I think I have at least wiped/flashed/Odin'd different ROMs for my new Captivate Glide at least a hundred times. I've finally settled on thegreatergood's LiteROM 0.9.0 and it's working great for me. Not only the one ROM though as I've had to find many workarounds for different things. Flashables/kernels/apks you name it. Although I have no regrets and I'm really proud of how It's like a beast in my pocket, I am quite bothered by one thing which is that the whole thing feels like a big piece of patchwork..
Coming from a HTC Desire Z running CM7 serving me loyally for many years, I miss that officiality (<-- oops, red snakes.. not sure that's a word. Whatever. Shakespeare made his own words too right? ) and the stability that CM7 offered.
I'm a humble man, and possibly carry the apologetic traits of a typical Canadian. Instead of whining and/or nagging some senior developer to hurry up on their ICS or JB development I've decided to build my own CM instead.
However some thought, I think the reason why the JB based experimental CM 10.1s for the Captivate Glide have been a difficult task is because it's probably quite a challenge to build something from something that's not currently very well understood, namely the JB. So I thought, why not just build I nice and stable ROM based off of GB and if it does well it could probably officiated as a CM7 port for the Captivate Glide.
I have a feeling that this is a very plausible task. But I have no way to do it alone.. I have zilch experience in development in anything, had to drop out of my C++ course and have been doing nothing but lurking and leeching since I started modding when I was eleven. All I have is a vision. If someone could point me in the right direction or even form a development team with me, I would be very grateful.
And if this goes well, I will have gained some long overdue experience
So.. Anyone?
P.S. I guess this goes in this forum too. But my phone gets real angry when I flash certain things onto it. The biggest issue currently is that it will freeze and crash (more specifically the screen will freeze and fade into white lines..) whenever I try to use ClockWorkMod Recovery.. I dunno if the crappy 1500 mAh China battery I got ripped off with is an issue but I'm waiting on an OEM one in the mail..
Post in general not development bub...
And were on cm 10. Why fall back?

hey bud im with you ... though I think CM9 would be better as ICS has been released, stable, and has a few more tweaks and features that CM7 didn't ... things like in JB where we have a transparent notification pull down, control over the dpi of certain apps etc.
First thing you should do is readup on the compile cm10 from source thread, get your feet wet there it'll get you all setup with a development system .. Linux is a must so I hope that you're savvy in the *nix shell or things will be antagonistic right off the start ...
I installed the CM9 recently and radio etc didn't work .. Guaranteed there is tonnes of information across all devices on xda-developers and even in general development threads.
Scroll through these forums, find the github links and learn how to setup your own, download the sources for the kernels from the other devs (theres a couple CM10.1s out there).
CM7 .. while I appreciate where you're coming from as i LOVED having CM7 on my Galaxy ACE - everything just worked... battery was great, it looked cool, and it was just off the stock enough to be unique and rub in iPhone users' faces
If I had the time I'd take it on with you .. chart your work and links that have helped you as you go along.
maybe he say that, because the glide have GB and ics officialy and not JB, so, if i understand what he say, maybe a romCM based y that version can be more stable, and less bugs, i was thinking about a CM9 too. But, if i remember correctly, it must create a device tree and a lot of thing, but i am not sure becausea never do a rom.

CM9 is based on ICS 4.0.4 ...
Check this link, not for our device but it offers some good insight to CM7 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1273718
Another one for CM9 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20844007
.... maybe I should just build a linux VM and give it a go in my spare time .... we're so starved for developers for our glides even amateur contributions can't hurt .... in the 2nd link the guy said it took him 11 months to learn how to mod for ICS from no experience so ..... depends on how much you want to commit to it ..

Flagged to be moved to general. If this turns into a dev thread, then you can flag to move it to the dev section, but you only post in the dev sections if you actually have a product or are actively working on something.
Your intentions seem great, but never wait for someone else to help you, otherwise it will never get done. No one is going to carry you through learning this.
There's a ton of guides out there on how to build, port, cherry pick CM commits, etc. etc. Go find them and start learning. Ask SPECIFIC questions if you have any.
No one shows up to college on day 1 and says I'd like to learn how to be a doctor, engineer, pharmacist, journalist, etc. There's a lot of steps in between. So go and get started.

Can someone recommend me the most stable/smoothest/best battery 4.2.2 rom

My gnex is starting to piss me off. Kit kat wont run worth a crap(tried 4 roms and kernels) 4.3.is stable...for the first month or so. so ive decided im going back to the basics and would like to try a 4.2.2 that is ran perfect. any recomendations?
Oh my god, why won't "ROM recommendation" threads stop? This must've been the 10th thread of its kind in this month... (although it's about 4.2.2 not 4.4.2, lol)
Experiment yourself, everyone has different use cases and even the same ROM behave differently. For example, I always stick to official CM nightlies no matter the Android version, but people keep saying they lack features / lag / eat battery, etc. while I never felt that way. It's really up to you to decide. Good luck with whatever 4.2.2 ROM out there

yeah thats why i made the thread. i had no issues with figuring out a 4.4.2 rom to try since they are talked about and updated almost daily but since 4.2.2 is so "old" i really didnt know where to begin looking. FAQ had list of roms but i dont think they have been updated so thats the main reason why i created this thread
