ONLY FLASH IF YOU HAVE T-MOBILE
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Disclaimer:
Flashing radios is among the most dangerous thing we can do to our devices. If you flash any of these on your AT&T, Sprint, Wind etc., you're very likely to brick your phone. While I have tested this file, you flash at your own risk. Again, this is T-Mobile only.
Flash this file from CWM recovery:
TMOGalaxyS3UVDLH3Modem.zip
The flash above does backup your original modem.bin
To restore your old radio use the one below. If you flash more that once you lost your old radio.
Flash this file from CWM recovery:
TMOGalaxyS3RestoreModem.zip - 418.93 KB
***Note: Though it doesn't have to be at the root of the card, this zip should be placed somewhere on your internal SD card (aka /sdcard) as well otherwise it may not see the modem.backup file.***
If everything works, you'll see a progress bar during the flashing process. Don't see a progress bar? Then the radio hasn't been flashed.
If you flashed the TMOGalaxyS3UVLG1Modem.zip twice and lost the original backup modem here it is...
Download and move to /data/media overwrite existing. The change permissions to rw-rw-rw
Now flash the TMOGalaxyS3RestoreModem.zip to return to the original modem.

I wasn't really expecting to notice a difference, but I went from no 4G in my apartment to 2-3 bars- very impressed. Thank you for sharing this!! I suggest everyone update, my SII used to be able to get 4G and I felt something was wrong with the S3, this fixes it :good:
Ok I forgot I'm over my 4G bandwidth so I can't check if it's any better or whatever but it flashed at least. And changed my radio. Thanks wild child!!

the original post says that flashable original radio file should be uploaded pretty soon.
same method as flashing this radio i guess.
---------- Post added at 03:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:51 AM ----------
another question:
okay so i tried flashing this radio via cwm recovery and i did not see any progress bar.
but when i go to my settings, the radio information says im getting t999UVLG1.
Did this flash correctly?
if not,
what does that bar actually look like? ( i mean does it look like the bar that we see in bootloader? actual green bar? )
Has anyone noticed any issues with phone charging after flashing this? I've had my phone on the charger for about 15 minutes and it hasn't even gone up 1%

The bar is in recovery after flashing anything usual behind the script that recovery puts out when flashing like "wiping system or flashing modem"

flash in cwm ... and it does remove cwm when it flashes .. and you go back to the stock recovery ...happened to me
I also lost signal when i flashed .. reinstalling now from 100% stock ...
Thanks Saint. When you say you lost signal, you mean you had no service even through a reboot?
OP, could you throw CWM in the next version?
On a side note, coming from an Evo4G, I don't understand why kernels and recoveries are the same here. I have seen the partition table and it is separate there, so can we not just flash a kernel that doesn't overwrite recovery?

It's Sprint, ergo, CDMA.
Seems to me like the CDMA tabs never got much love!
I had a couple problems installing it nothing I couldn't fix. Installed on Sprint tab. Had JT CM7 on there with cwm 5. something. When installed from the CWM 5. it stuck at samsung logo. rebooted into CWM again which had been changed to 4. in initial flash, did the 3 times wipe of everything again then reflashed and it worked. SO far I'm liking it really smooth. I have it OC with SetCPU at 1200. Haven't played with it much yet but so far so good.

If it's not working, reflash with Odin the stock rooted kernel available by rodderick in the mega starter thread. The experimental one I included seems problematic.

If you're familiar with my Samsung Epic 4G Rom (or if you're not, click here!) then you'll know that I currently provide matching blue and green themes, with a red one on the backburner.
The default theme for Osprey is WIP port of the green theme. I will also be porting the blue theme when that's done, and the red theme when I make it.

When I first flashed from cm7 with clm 5. Smething it wouldnt boot. Reboot into recovery and check your cwm again it should have flashed the cwm Random has included with the rom. If it has triple wipe again and reflash, then it should work. Took maybe 3~5 min max to boot after reflash

Oh snap! This is the earliest I have ever posted in a thread. GMan - congrats and I am looking forward to trying this out brother. Thanks for the help you've been giving us noobs with the ktoonsez kernel. I was about to go to bed, but it looks like I will be up a bit longer.

G - I'm getting a bootloop, brother. Twice so far. After I flash, the phone reboots as though it is starting up normally, but it reboots into recovery after about 2 - 3 minutes. My process was as follows:
1. Wipe: Factory Reset/System/Cache/Dalvik
2. Install ROM
3. Wide Cache/Dalvik
4. Reboot
I attempted to "fix permissions" after the first flash, but it failed. Any advice?

EDIT: I restored my nandroid. I'm trying to flash again without factory reset and wiping system - I'm only wiping cache/dalvik. MTF.
Wipe everything 3 times before flashing cant fix permission s until you do a full boot what was ur last rom

OK so I flashed the ROM, it booted up fine for me however when trying to setup Google account it fc's. I decided to skip that and when trying to go into settings as you normally would after fully booted settings FC's. Love that you left it stock cuz all I want is a ROM that's not over themed like most Roms are with the s3 it seems. For now I'll go back to my other ROM but can't wait to see what you come up with thanks man

Most recent ROM was FreeGS3. ROM before that (and my nandroid) was Odexed Blue. After I restored my nandroid, I wiped cache/dalvik, flashed ROM over nandroid and rebooted phone. It started to boot up and went boot menu. When phone finally booted up (approx 5 - 7 min) the OB ROM was still there and I was getting messages "unfortunately, system UI has stopped", dropbox has stopped, youtube has stopped.
I will go back into recovery, wipe EVERYTHING (factory, system, cache, dalvik) 3 times and try to flash again. MTF.
EDIT: It looks like some of what you have done with this ROM has flashed to the phone. When I hold the power button down to go into recovery, my "device options" menu is multi-colored...that is from your ROM, yes?

Here is a little mod to make your Device status show "Normal" instead of "Modified" under Setting->About device->Status->Device status
I found a post digiblur made (link), that shows you how to do this for the Note 2 so I deviced to try it on the S3. His mod require 3 edits but in the Sprint S3 (MB1) only required 1 edit. After hours and hours of testing trial and error, here it goes
Decompile SecSettings.apk and goto
Edit SecSettings/smali/com/android/settings/devinceinfo/Status.smali and modify the following
.
Code:
method private changeSysScopeStatus()V
.locals 7
const-wide/16 v3, 0x3e8
const v6, 0x7f09012[B][U][COLOR="Red"]a[/COLOR][/U][/B]----> change to -----> const v6, 0x7f09012[B][U][COLOR="red"]9[/COLOR][/U][/B]
const/4 v5, -0x1
const-string v0, "sysscope_status"
compile and push or flash and reboot. After reboot is will show you scanning for a few minutes but then change to "Normal"
Changing the last code in 0x7f09012a with the following will result in
0 - Select Activity
1 - Debug intent sender
2 and 5 - Device Info
3 - Battery Info
4 - Screen
6 - SD Card
7 - Proxy Setting
8 - Device status
9 - Normal - :good:
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. Always backup and try and enjoy at your own risk.
First!
Very nice find.
Second... lol
Sent from my bad ass rooted S3.
Will this change system status in download/odin mode to normal as well?
Nvm. Just read in the OP that this is cosmetic.
Thanks for the work!
Another much needed mod. Thanks

This is cool, if only I understood how to do this. Hopefully devs can implement this in new ROM updates. Edit: rompnit already has it in his ROM update, awesome, thanks.

has anyone done this mod and then was able to successfully connect to their samsung Allshare cast wireless hub? would be awesome if I can finally use that $99 paper weight I have sitting around on a ROOTed rom. - Triangle away does not work for me.
EDIT: tried the zip provided by kenny and device now says "normal" however my allshare cast still fails to connect. see screenshot.

You would think that right? But you know I go overboard to thank these amazing devs sifting through smali to find these places to mod. It's crazy in there...numbers and letters everywhere!
What else could this mod be use useful for?.. just trying to educated myself.

Say like if you're on a ROM with a stock look it would show up as modified, and if you ever had a problem where you needed to bring it into the Sprint store they *might* not help you if it says that, so mainly used for that I would believe
Anyone else tried this and not able to get into system settings??? Strange, everything else is fine... Maybe I need hookd on foniks~
Edit still can't get into system settings...
Still dicked, lol, time to odin new stuff

This is a ZVC Kernel for stock based ROM's that I made in my spare time. It is based off of Evolutionmods's Code-Craft ZVC Kernel.
This Kernel features CPU Overclock up to 1.8GHz, GPU Overclock up to 487GHz, Voltage Control, Faux Audio, Faux Gamma, and Dynamic FSYNC.
It currently only has stock governor's and schedulers. I may add additional ones when I have more time.
Thanks to: Evoultionmod, MysteryEmotionz, faux123...

idk nothing about kernels but, all the others zips that I've flashed has a boot.img file.
v1.1 doesn't have one, is that normal?
That one uses the any kernel updater. It unpacks your current boot.img extracts the old zImage and replaces it with the new one.
Great job on v1.1, everything working smooth, keep it up.

Hello please port this to e975... we need this kind of kernel... afaik e975 have same hw.. please thank you!!!!
Im willing to test 4 u thanks!
Does this kernel work on stock, rooted 4.1.2? What are the advantages of this versus the stock kernel? If I flash this how will I be able to go back to the stock kernel without restoring back to fresh 4.1.2 using a computer?

we have only stock kernel on our device . There are few stable cm based roms(but none bugless) and 2 stock based roms(no big deal). Not a very good situation. This is the only working modified kernel but only storage isn't working .I'm sorry but you succeed. :good:

Yes this runs on stock. And here's the stock ZVC kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45713037
You can overclock this kernel, plus improvements over stock.

Another option is to make a nandroid before installing this kernel. Then just restore to go back to what you had before.
