I got it to work, its really nice, but man it really is slow. Is there a way to speed it up a bit, I mean Im using my SgS3 which can run some pretty fast wifi speeds. Its slower then dial up T_T. I ask because there are a few people who say its good and fast and there is no noticable speed drop when using TOR.
Sometimes tor is slow. Try using a new identity (or whatever it's called) and it might speed things up.

Identity??? How does one do that?
Toggle Orbot off and back on again. It will route you through a different way and maybe it will be faster. Just keep trying until you find a good one.

Download Iptables from Play Store> Run the apk> Goto settings in Orbot >Activate Iptables(check third option from bottom) >Star Orbot

Hey all. I am not sure if this is the right sub-forum for this or if I should have put it in General?
As we all know, HSPA is a huge battery drain compared to standard 3G. In fact if you are a heavy data user like me, switching to 3G mode can save you as much as 25%-30% of your charge over 24 hours. 3G is usually enough, of course the problem is sometimes you just want the higher HSPA speeds (for videos etc), and turning it on and off is a big PITA since it is a multi-stage process involving going into the dialer menu.
I searched high and low for a market app that could do this and couldn't find any. So I wrote this Tasker task to automate the whole thing. Assuming you have the Tasker app, all you have to do is import this task and assign it to a homescreen shortcut. You can then just click it and it will toggle HSPA on or off.
Hi ,

OP writes "Assuming you have the Tasker app..."
you need to download and install the Tasker app (paid) to install this fix.
That's right you need tasker, then just import it.
If you have never looked at Tasker I would highly recommended it, its basically the most powerful android app around.

Is there any way to disable (or block) internet connection to specific applications?
I don't want some of my installed applications to use internet service every time I start running it.
Is this what Ur looking for????
--------------------------------------------------
If I have helped you.... hit that sexy thanks button. ^_^
I don't see anything.
Edit:
Oh, do you mean the Restrict Background Data? Is it only for background data and not fully blocked internet connection?
I am looking for a way to fully block internet connection for certain app.

Not sure if these apps are compatible with Jellybean yet, but both Droidwall and Avast will allow you to block internet access to specific apps.
galaxy nexus (gsm) / cm9 / trinity @ 1.4GHz
Droid wall would be my choice.
Do they require root access?
I don't want to root my GNex yet

Yes, pretty much any app that can do firewall functions is going to need root access.

Checking it effectively prevents the app from transmitting any data.
I read that Droidwall didn't work on JB? I have Permissions Denied working well on JB: it can not only block internet access for a certain application, but any permission you want.
Droidwall. It works well and it's free
Jellin' like a felon
You can also set up tasker pretty easily to turn off mobile data and turn off wifi when specific apps are opened. Then set up an exit task, so mobile data & wifi are turned on again when you close the app.

Droidwall does work in Jellybean. I am using it now.
However, you may want to pay attention to this issue:
http://code.google.com/p/droidwall/issues/detail?id=222
Okay, there is now a translated version of LBE Security available on XDA that works on Jelly Bean! It can do this and more (allow and deny all sorts of permissions to applications). It doesn't give you as much control as Permissions Denied, but the interface is MUCH better and faster. Permissions Denied is really too cumbersome to use. I used it for a month or so, but it was unbearable.
Beware with LBE: the version in the Play store makes your phone crash hard if you are on Jelly Bean! You need to download the version someone has translated here on the forum, Google it.
This thread is pretty old, but if you don't want the app to access the internet, why not just freeze it with TB or another like app. This will work for apps that you don't want to use, but it certainly won't work if you still want to use the app.
Hello everybody!

apply the latest update, customize your screens with HD widgets or beautiful widgets, try out the different motion settings, install the amazon app store to get free apps everyday, learn the best way to take pictures during the day, at night and during motion....
being disruptive to others is not ideal nor should it be looked upon as a warranted action.
I have the wifikill app I found it on google and it is amazing. Lol

ROFL that's epic.
I suggest getting and setting up "Llama", I LOVE that app! Switches your profiles based on whatever rules you set. IE It puts my phone in Quiet and enables WiFi when at the office M-F between certain times, goes into Car mode on the way to/from the office, back into quiet if i work at my night job based on if i'm in the area designated, then silent mode to sleep and launches Lightning Bug app to help wife and I sleep.
DesktopVizualizer is another sweet App to customize any icon
LauncherPro and Nova Launcher are GREAT
Dropbox and AwesomeDrop are other favorites to make life easier
Get some game emulators -N64oid, Genisoid, etc -can use PS3 and XBox360 controllers with USB OTG cable
Robin is a sweet "assistant" for car use with 100% hands free aside from swiping your hand above the phone to get "Robin's" attention
Ok after stumbling accross this post, I have managed to do absolutely nothing at all work related today. wifikill is awesome. After turning on my wifi and connecting to a network, wifikill showed 186 connections. Going down the line and dissabling one at a time is truly comical. You dont know who has what ip but looking around you see people going like wtf happened. Great find thanks

So, I am getting internet in my apartment tomorrow (finally) but in the past week I have tethered about 4 GB. I'm running Flinny's CM10 builds. This morning T-mobile finally caught on to me and every site I go to redirects to a t-mobile page telling me to pay for the service I already technically pay for. Stupid.
I've been researching proxies and other stuff a little, but is there anyway around this app wise maybe?
If you're tethering a laptop or desktop, do a user agent change in the browser to a mobile browser. Website will come up mobile, but usually there is a link to go to the desktop sites.

This does the trick. Thanks for this.
Accessed Chrome's Dev Tools with alt+cmd+I, changed the user agent from there. I have to keep that window active, but it should hold me up until tomorrow. I would install the extension that keeps it active through all windows and tabs, but chrome thinks I'm a phone and won't let me access the web store - hahaha.
Sounds like you've got it figured out now... but as an aside, I experienced the same thing a while back using Chrome. I spent a couple hours trying different things to get around it, but finally I opened Firefox and voila - no more redirect.

So i recently rooted my phone and installed custom rom in it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171110
It works well, but one thing is bothering me very much. Mobile data works perfect on other programs like Delfi.lt or 15min or Google Play Market, but when it comes to a simple browser it cant load anything. It loads up a bit of the loading bar and freezes. This is really bothering me.
Before rooting everything went smooth, but now i feel like rooting+custom rom wasnt such a good ideal after all, cause mobile internet is very crucial for me.
Problem :
Browser not working on mobile data
Working :
Browser works on WiFi
Mobile data works on other programs that use internet.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
Yours, Vecord
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35066436#post35066436 Tried this ROM but it was the same.

I still have some ideas
Did you full wipe before installing the rom?
Did you make any modifications to the rom before or after install?
Do you have an app that interferes with the browser, or with the 3g signal?
Are you sure thay other apps are capable of using the internet?
Are you sure that the speed isn't too slow for the browser? Maybe you have apps that don't need fast speeds to operate, but browsers do need a decent speed for them to run. Download the speed test app from the play store and do a test. Post the results.
Did you use the sim unlocker? Maybe that messed up some stuff.
Are your internet settings correctly configured? Double check your settings.
Nooooww, I'm out of ideas.
