What browser are you guys using on your HOX with Jelly Bean?
I'm running tbalden's CM10 Alpha, and since it appears my favorite browser (ICS browser+) is still incompatible with JB, I'm interested in your browser choice. I really like ICS Browser+'s quick controls. They are a Labs feature in the stock browser, too, but for some reason they don't work on my HOX, they just don't show up.
Any input?

And there I went thinking the makers of Apex were making a browser and wondering why I couldn't find it on play or on the web.
Seriously, though, any ideas why neither the stock browser's quick controls nor those of the "Quick ICS Browser" don't work on my JB HOX?
Whoops yes! Completely missed that
I use Quick ICS browser. That's smooth etc etc and works perfectly with CM10

I get it to work sometimes, but it just doesn't recognize my gesture very well... :S I do like it a lot if it work smooth though!
Boat Browser
Just discovered Boat Browser and I love it. Text reformatting on pinch zoom (Settings ->Labs ->Text wrapping) is what I was looking for. (ICS Browser + still not working on JB)
Different UI is not bad IMO.

Scrolling and crashing are known bugs for chrome. It's just mainly optimized for the pure google devices for now.

I used to use Chrome on my CM9 powered GT 10.1, but I grew sick of the crashes and the absence of Flash support.
I have to be honest, I used Dolphin for a long time, have tried Opera and Firefox, but I always come back to the stock ICS browser.

Stock ICS browser is cool, but swap it out for AOSP browser...seems faster with a couple more features. Grab the one in the Frankenstein rom and while your there grab the AOSP MMS...much nicer.

That's what we were referencing. The stock AOSP browser my brother.
Honestly, CM9 feels much more stable than TW ICS right now. I suggest you guys try it out and go on IRC for today's build, which can't get any better

So here I am planning to flash CM9 this weekend, and of course JB gets released! Not that its a bad thing of course, but it just makes my decision that much harder. Does anyone have suggestions as to which I should go with and why? Please only post constructive advice with some facts behind your answer, no "JB FTW!" comments since this is a serious question.
Jelly Bean. The only thing I miss from CM9 is the integrated LED notification chooser. Light Flow isn't working correctly for me on JB.
For all the reasons here: http://www.android.com/whatsnew/ and more JB is a no brainer.
Maybe you should flash both and decide for yourself! I would go with cm cause jb is pretty stock rite now and if you want options jb will come up short vs cm..jb is very nice I ran it for a few hours but I can't handle the stock feel..
I find that most of the customizations in cm9 and aokp don't get used by me.
I have been running between aokp and cm9 for months. They are great smooth stable roms with great customizations.. If those tweaks are something you are really into then maybe stay.
Project butter is no lie.. JB is (for me) smoother in every day actions than cm9/aokp. New notification ui is great. Google Now is awesome and practical. You can still run custom kernels and over clock and have root... Just not those more in depth tweaks yet.
JB is the future... May as well go there as soon as possible.

Coming from CM9 to JB, I'd say CM9 for features, JB for speed.
There are some CM9 features that I really miss on JB. T9 dailer, lock screen weather, and lock screen shortcuts. But JB is really buttery smooth.
That being said, once the source code of JB is released next month and CM9 is updated to JB, I'll go back go CM9.
Are custom launchers working on JB?
I'm on cm9 but damn keen to try JB. Started d/l last night but stopped it at 10mb down. I'm stuck using 3g atm and a 250mb d/l will use up about a quarter of my months data.
Nova works on jb... Apex crashes for me.. But stock jb is smoother than both.

Once the JB source is released it will be in CM. I installed JB to give it a try but for the long run I am going to run CM.
I liked JB but there are still some apps that I couldn't get working most notably GTA3.

Nova has some quirks on JB. I went back to the stock JB launcher for the time being.
JB for now. The new features are amazing and it's butter smooth.

Jelly Bean. MUCH smoother, Live Wallpapers are lag free again (FINALLY), much better boot animation (CM is way too choppy, and the stock ICS one is just... no.) better camera, Google Now is freaking amazing, I could go on.
I hadn't even tried live wallpapers. Very nice. I have never been able to use them due to lag.

how's the battery life on JB? did the smooth ui have any effect on battery life?

It works? It says in the description that it isn't compatible with the N7.
Quick ICS Browser is an improved version of stock Android 4.0.3 Browser.
***Notice***
Nexus7 is currently not supported.
This browser doesn't work without Stock Browser.

I tried it on Paranoid Android and it crashes back to the home screen quite a bit, some sites won't open fully and crash as well. I recently started using Boat Browser and like it a lot.
I hope Google adds the aosp browser back in the next ota. I am never stock but chrome is just crap compared to the stock jellybean browser in smoothness, speed, and features. Not to mention some apps depend on it.

You need a rom with the old Android stock browser included, quick browser and ics browser+ both rely on the stock browser for core functionality.
i was able to add stock browser on my N7.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780746
only problem is that the URL bar is missing
***Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) Limitation***
cannot show url bar
cannot use auto text reflow
as this is 4.1 problem, im hoping that it will be fixed soon.
edit: im attaching newest version of Quick ICS (free).
I'm on Paranoid Android 2.54 (4.1.2) and the url bar works!
Flash, Stock Browser and Tablet-UI. 4.1.2 is Android as it should be!

Thanks. I haven't installed it yet though because I noticed that the files inside the .apk were last modified on 28/02/2008 6.33pm. If Jelly Bean only came out this year, how is that possible!?
stock apks are also dated to 2008. it's normal

I just presumed that the JB browser was the same on all Jelly Bean devices. Therefore, if someone with JB posted it, then anyone could use it.. Is that wrong?

I believe the only devices with official 4.2 right now use chrome as their default browser, i don't know if Google has made one for 4.2 like the previous ones.

Having too many browser also can cause your browsing slow so just disable plug in because that also cause your browser to search for plug in that also can cause slow on your browser...stock browser usually fast...

I use the AOSP browser.
i use javelin browser for few days, didnt think that much before installing it, but eventually really liked it.
RIght now I'm using Now Browser, it's based on lightning browser but even lighter.
mine is chrome.
+1 for Firefox, using extensions. I also have an HTC One and I like Opera on that.
The best browser I've downloaded is a floating popup browser, called "Floating Browser COBRA". It has a lot more settings/customization than the Samsung popup browser, so much that I don't even use Samsung's anymore.

Chrome as a daily driver for sure. Firefox and the AOSP browser are best for privacy though.
Javelin!!!!
As much as I despise chrome, I simply use it daily for the sole purpose of syncing everything. Other than that, I also agree that it's not smooth and laggy as hell!

Looks to be, after installing says browser already installed, but mines was already built-in my PA 4.1.2 ROM.
That meaning said, I've tested many newer ROMs 4.2-4.4 w/built-in AOSP browser and they all had weird bugs(in full screen mode browser and ROM), which is one of many reason's I still am sticking to 4.1.2, tablet mode being the main reason.

That is the aosp browser.
If you want multi window use omnimetal. It should still have multi window.
If it's been removed from the rom just let me know. I have an older build with working multi window on my "sdcard".
Opera seems to be alright...

Habit Browser
Loved AOSP when it was a viable option. Nothing beat Quick Controls. But I like Dolphin Browser now, pretty stable.
Yeah AOSP is the best still. although Chrome is getting less buggy and not as laggy. nothing beats the pie controls on aosp though.
