Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
not currently possible (at least not stock, im not sure if a custom rom will allow it). google and samsung keep pointing fingers at each other as to who's fault it is, but ive heard reports of other devices with ICS having the function, so its probably samsungs fault...
Definitely Samsung's fault, spoke with a technician from Samsung....

So what is everyone using to move apps to external sd? This is driving me crazy if not pissed.. never had internal storage problems on my g2 with minimal storage... can't believe Samsung is selling these phones with no choice to put apps on your external sd card.

I just got my Dinc yesterday and I was wanted to know the difference between internal storage and phone memory and what they're used for. I came from the Eris so I've never seen internal storage. Thanks.

Internal storage is like sd card type memory that's not removable. Phone memory is for apps, the rom, data etc.
At least I think so lol

I see. What does the internal memory used for?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Whatever you want. You can put music on there, set your camera to save on internal. No app data tho...

If I could ask, where are you seeing "Internal Storage" and "Phone Memory?"
So I can't get this to work. ... anyone know why? Something about storage emulator. ...

I have to ask.. why? My GN2 shows that I have 9.3 GB free... I understand the need for this on the older devices like the OG EVO where int storage was scarce but on our kind of devices with so much memory... what is the point?
Really? It's pretty common knowledge that Google removed that functionality from Jelly Bean.

works great
i bought a 64gb class 10 sdcard and followed that video (can't put links yet) but someone posted the link in this thread and it's working great.
I did have some trouble moving the apps, but i am a noob with android, I just uninstalled it all and re-downloaded them on playstore (couldn't figureout titanium pro) it downloaded on the new 64gb, all the apps run great i didn't notice any lag at all, everything seems to be downloading to the 64gb I'm HAPPY!
Well I stand corrected.

What's common knowledge to one obviously isn't too another. Thanks for those that have given passive feedback .

I suppose it's more of a piece of ming thing. I guess I just don't feel comfy when I'm limited. In the end of I can't get it to work if be Ok. ... I just like having the option

I also like to have the option and I am glad to see that it can be done.
I got a 64gig card as well, and really don't see the point using apps2sd anymore. 10gb free on the phone is a lot of apps, but I'm also a pretty light user compared to most.
Unfortunately, running you SD card as internal memory puts a tremendous amount of strain on the card. There's a high chance of corruption at some point in time, then you're screwed. I prefer something like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slf.ListglApp

I cant seem to figure out how to get apps that ive downloaded on my external sd card I only have a class 4 16gb sd but everything goes to device instead of card
Sent from my SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
This is a major flaw with the note. You can put data on the card, but you cant put apps or cache movies from google play, etc...
It is a limitation with jelly bean, but samsung has not provided a work around. I will research this more before buying my next phone.

One potential solution is to get a bigger sd card and swap the internal and external storage. For example I have a 64 gig sd card that my note 2 now sees as internal storage. With your current 16 gig card it makes no sense to do this, but if you NEED more storage for apps this may be the only way. As far as I know there is no way to transfer app data to the external sd, but if this is incorrect someone feel free to correct me. If you are interested in swapping the sd card to internal storage this was the thread I followed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2036796
EDIT: I've heard that some people are having success with an app called "link2sd" from the play store, but it wouldn't work consistently for me. Maybe worth a try though...
Thank you very much for the great info ..I will give that a shot ....xda community Rocks !!!!

I rooted my s4 but I have no clue how to move anything to the micro sd card its 32 gigs class 4 I bought music from the playstore and some apps and just want to move it to the sd. This is my first android I had ipod/iphones before this
Welcome to Android
First off, congrats on the switch to Android. I personally believe you won't want to go back to iPhone. With that said, I don't have my S4 yet, but if it's anything like other Androids, you can use a file app (I use Astro) and move any files back and forward as you see fit. You can also mount the phone to a PC and move it that way or put the SD card itself in the PC. If your filling up the whole 32GB or a lot of data, the fastest would probly be mounting the SD card itself into the PC.
Hope this helps, but then again.... I'm still waiting for the S4 to release in my area.
I found a way to move the music to sd card just not apps I think they made it harder to move because no apps I download do it but ill try astro. Ipod/iphone jailbreaking is simpler lol.

Not if you plan to install games.
I have a 32gb iPhone 5 and have at least 17gbs in games alone.
I'm also looking for a way to install apps on the SD card.
I haven't open my GS4 yet so I can return it incase we can't.
600+ for a 9GB is a not good.
@@@use " link2sd " application...download from play store...its not only let u too move apps to sd...and u can also uninstall unwanted system apps if u [email protected]@@
Am I missing some memory? Shouldnt I have more available then 3.5? Is this normal guys I thought this phone has 16gb internal?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
You got one of the recall S4's probably. Shake the phone and see if you hear something rattle, if so thats the missing memory. Take it back to the store for recall replacment
Some of that 16gb is dedicated to the "system" (Rom and pre installed app)

Most likely the other part of you answer. Although its a 16gb device only around half of it is usable storage. Still after flashing a ROM I tend to have 7+GB available. Backups take a big chunk. 2.5 - 3gb and by default store internally. Move these to an external SD and select external as default storage on next backup. I actually have a separate 32gb thumb drive+ otg cable with a backup from multiple ROMs. And I select the USB otg option. Keeps my on board SD cards clean.
