I was wondering if anyone has Straight Talk with T- Mobile using a Galaxy Nexus. Do you guys really get unlimited everything? And do mms work for sending and receiving? I'm thinking of switching to this if everything works well and if it has good service

Not really a good idea to stream music or video all day with Straight Talk, but may be able to get away with it by leaving proxy field blank in APN settings. I have Straight Talk and use less than 1 gig of data per month and it is perfect for me.
Thanks guys

I just started rooting and flashing and all that and finally found my msl because I was told you need that to edit your data profile. Now before I experiment with putting my phone on a straight talk plan, does anyone know if this is actually possible and if so does anyone know step for step how to do it? I've been looking for a few months how to do it but never found anything that sounded like it would guarantee anything without having a sim card. So it's either straight talk or an 800$ bill to pay with sprint. So any pointers would be really appreciated.

Um im pretty sure straight talk is gsm only.....

Yes its possible.. ST will actually walk you through what needs to be changed and edited to get it working on ST if i were you id do it with a verizon GNex for better service
Alright cool, thanks.

Also, do I only need to buy the service card or do I have to get a phone too?

OK i don't why your listening to this guy... You cannot use a sprint nexus or a Verizon nexus on straight talk since they are CDMA phones..... straight talk uses T-Mobiles and ATTs network.. You will need a new phone

Straight talk does operate as both a CDMA and GSM MVNO. That being said, the average consumer is indeed going to be limited to their GSM offering.
It is possible to get on straight talk but it will not be an easy task. You will need a donor straight talk smart phone to flash over to the galaxy nexus.

So really it will just be a matter of changing all the id's like my ssid msid and all that to match up with the straight talk phone right? Because I've been under the impression that all you have to do is have your msl and edit your data profile to match the phone that has the service you're trying to get. I've just never heard of it being done with a sprint phone.... This idea sounds almost nightmarish all the sudden

I have flashed several sprint phones to virgin mobile. Its no easy task and requires software that's not easy to come by but it is possible. Check out a thread by autoprime on the subject.

I would like to switch to Att since I get great speeds where I live. I have straight talk now on att but get throttled often. Is there a way to get the dataconnect 3gb for tablets to work on my phone? And just use Google Voice?
I have asked att chat services and they said I can't do that.

I'm using Ptel mobile $50 plan on an S3 flashed with tmokeiths mod. I'm getting speeds of 6mbps download in the Inland Empire California.
Using straight talk. Started off with good speed about 5-6mbps dl and 2-3 upload. Now it's been slowing down every month to .5-1 Mbps DL and under 1Mbps upload. Getting really annoying

I'm using net10 with AT&T Galaxy SIII, and I have to say I am very impressed. The data speeds are faster than they ever were with my Sprint service. It baffles me. If anyone needs a good hookup on prepaid service cards as well, I sell tmobile, straight talk, virgin mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and net 10 all at major discounts.

Does MMS work for you on via Net10? What rom? MY brother is using a AT&T S3 with Net10 t-mobile sim, and he can't get MMS to work for the life of him. He has tinkered with APN settings, rom's, modem's, etc...
Does everyone have to shave the sim cards down? Or can you get microsims for the prepaid carriers?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Net10 came with a total of 3 sim cards, two were att one being a micro and the other tmobile standard sim

So they sent you multiple sim cards for non net10 service? I thought you needed the providers simcard?

Hello everyone, tommorow morning i leave on a roadtrip to USA. ill be gone for 21 days mostly will be driving on i5 highway and will stay 5 nights in VEGAS and 6 nights in LA. I have the note 2 T889 Same as t-mobile version but from Mobilicity and its already unlocked. what would be a good prepaid service for me to use? unlimited calling , unlimited text and atleast 2gb of good speed data. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Trust me 2gb is more than enough for a month. I have unlimited 4g from T-Mobile and I never exceeded 2gb. Hope I helped good luck

So your saying I should go with tmobile prepaid?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
I go over 2gb because I use my note 2 as a hotspot while im driving with my kids so that they can use their ipods to stream netflix or go on youtube. Im on the $30 plan with 5gb and 100 min. The most I've used so far is about 4.3gb of data and my min are always under 70 min. I do more texting than talk so im ok with this plan at this price.

Are you prepaid?

When you travel you going to use lots more data on cellular than you normally do. 2gb of data not enough.

I live out in the sticks (Oklahoma), but in my experience T-Mobile has terrible coverage along even the major interstates. I might suggest ATT if you're going to be driving quite a bit.
I don't think you can get an ATT Straight talk card anymore?

Get either AT&T or an MVNO who uses AT&T's network
Hello,
My advice to you since you are travelling is to either use AT&T, AT&T Go Phone, an MVNO (H20, Net 10 {cousin of straight talk}) Now a few months ago I would have told you without a doubt to get straight talk but like inconceeeivable brought up, Straight Talk no longer sells sim cards that work on AT&T's network directly to the public. Now there are people who sell them on ebay but because they are rare now some people are charging a ton of money now (between 30 and 50 dollars per SIM when it would never go above 15 directly from the company itself) so I would buy from another mvno. If you search "mvno" on Wikipedia you'll find that there are plenty of different MVNO's that use AT&T's (& T-Mobile) network so if you search hard enough you'll have plenty of choices.
T-Mobile is improving faster now and is being aggressive but they have ways to go before they reach reliability status with AT&T.
Sooner than later Net 10 AT&T sims will be no longer (Net 10, straightalk, simplemobile, & tracfone are all owned by the same corporation) so I suggest you go get one. Their service is 50 a month. There is also Red Pocket & H20 but both of these options will run you 60 a month for unlimited talk, text, & web browsing (no streaming of movies and music)
I hope I was able to help.
I have the t mobile prepaid plan with the $30 100min/unlimited everything else plan. I love the pricing and this is truly a plan that fits my needs but damn I wish the service was better. They have always been great with me from a customer service perspective. Net10 on the other hand. ...
