need some help with KFU

ok so my buddy just bought a kindle fire and asked me to go to town on it and make it "look good". i'm new to the whole kindle fire method of doing things. my wife has a nook tablet running cm7, and i have my SGSII skyrocket running cm9. i'm familiar with most things in the rooting process, but not too familiar with twrp ( but understand what it is).
the problem i am having is getting KFU to recognize the KF. i have read the KFFB and all associated threads, i have used the forum search, google, and even youtube but no luck. i have tried 3 different computers and only one of them actually showed the proper device info in device manager. the first laptop is running 64 bit windows 7, ran the install_drivers.bat and everything said it was good but no matter how many times i uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers the KF will not show up. the results did not change whether it was manually installed or not (possibly due to my samsung drivers causing a problem), laptop 2 is running the same configuration, and still the same problems. the 3rd laptop is running 32bit xp and with a manual install the drivers installed and the abd composite driver showed up on device manager under android phone.
so when i plug the KF in the computer recognizes it but when i try to run KFU nothing happens. i tried to run the install_drivers.bat but it comes back as installed fail - unsigned drivers.
so after hours of searching and reading i'm at a loss. is there anything else that i can do?
ok well i got KFU to work on laptop #1. i uninstalled my samsung drivers and all other android drivers i could find, ran the install driver.bat and it worked. seems my drivers from my phone were causing the device manager to not install the KF drivers properly. now to flash away!!!!

[GLAZED ICS ROM] unable to connect to computer while in rom, works just fine in twrp.

I recently flashed the GLAZED ICS rom onto my kindle fire, and now it wont show up in my computer. It shows up in device manager and the 'devices and printers' window, but not in disk manager.
I have tried:
*restarting both my computer and the kindle
*updating the drivers
*uninstalling the drivers and letting the kindle reconnect and re-install drivers
nothing has seemed to work. anyone have any ideas?
p.s. when looking at it in the 'devices and printers' window, it shows up under 'unspecified' as 'Galaxy'

Kindle fire Utility issues

I am trying to install twrp on my kindle fire. the KFU (kindle fire utility) is not working for me., I manually installed the ADB driver since i thought the driver_install.bat wasnt working. it still refuse to do what i thought was a fairly simple process. here is what i have done so far, i will list it to help rule out the issue.
- Used the KFU like normal. (retried by un-installing the driver in devicemanager)
- Used the KFU like normal and rebooting my desktop and Kindle Fire.
- Used the KFU on a laptop with a fresh copy of windows 7.
- Manually installed the driver and tried using the KFU. (un- installed driver and tried again) also did this on the laptop with fresh windows 7.
- Manually Installed the driver and rebooting desktop and kindle fire. (also tried on laptop with fresh copy of windows 7 and with all updates.
- installed JAVA JDK and then Andriod SDK and tried that method (both on desktop and laptop.)
- threaten kindle fire with hammer.
- gave it a night and hoping it would work the next day.
im basicly wanting to get this to work. So please can someone help me?
i just want ICS back on it and maby try 4.1 once its ready for everyday use.
If their is antoher way please tell me and/or link it.
Thank you and have a nice day.

[Q] Kindle Fire Driver Trouble

Hi guys,
Having a bit of trouble with the Kindle Fire Drivers.
First time rooting anything so bear with me.
I downloaded the KFU utility and used the install drivers on that.
When i ran the utility it saiid that ADB status is Offline.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and rebooting. Enabled ADB on the Kindle (STOCK FIRMWARE).
Tried to install manually by selecting "Android Phone" - But i dont get an option for Android Phone.
At the moment my Kindle is listed under " Portable Devices" AND under "Other Devices" (other devices with a yellow exclamation mark next to it).
Any ideas what i can do?
Cheers

Is your kindle 1st gen? System version 6.3.1? If it is it still isnt that uncommon to have issues with driver install. What computer operating system are you using. If your on windows 8 you need to go through selective startup and disable driver signature verification. Windows 7 is about the easiest. Look for samsung adb driver if you had previously installed those before for a samsung device or kies. If you are not system version 6.3.1 you're using the wrong driver and it very likely will not show as android phone even if you're using the correct driver and kfu is useless for rooting you're device. Not to mention dangerous.

[Q] After Rooting With Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 Windows 7 Won't Connect USB To Kindle Fire

I am brand new to rooting so please excuse the noob naiveté. I rooted my original version Kindle Fire with the stable version of Cyanogenmod 10.1.3. Everything went well until I tried to connect my Fire to my Windows 7 computer via USB cable. The computer will not connect to the Kindle Fire. When I go to the Device Manager I see the Kindle Fire listed as "Kindle" but I cannot communicate with the device. As per some other suggestions on the web I uninstalled the Kindle driver and tried to let Windows 7 install the correct driver. This has not worked. I tried to uninstall the current driver and use an older driver from Kindle Fire Utility 0.9.6 (I originally used version 0.9.8) but this too failed to be reconized and connect. Can anyone help me get my computer to recognize my Kindle Fire so I could transfer files? Thank you all in advance.

You should get a notification on the kindle when you plug it into the computer, you'll have to tap the notification to bring up a screen with the android guy and a button that says something along the lines of enable file transfer or enable usb our something, been a while don't remember lol, anyway click that and you should have it pop up on the pc for file share
