Ok so I have searched all over and for some reason I can't find out what is going on, I rooted according to the posts and that went fine. Even installed TWRP and that worked ok but after a day or two I went to run wifi tether and nothing, rebooted into recovery and I now have stock recovery back. How do I get my root and recovery to stick on LG8.
Odin valen then root.
I am sorry but I know what Odin is but what is Valen?

So, I dun messed up.
I was on stock rooted lk8, and tried to go directly to MA7, even though I knew better. My own fault.
Anywho, once I flashed to MA7 the phone lost root, lost custom recovery, and would not activate.
I flashed CWM to it, and CWM would show up, but not allow me to do anything (wipe phone, restore nandroid).
So I tried flashing the stock image (lj1) via ODIN, and now it fails whenever it gets to sboot.img.
I can not get to recovery, stock or otherwise, it tells me to do an emergency restore from Keis (which does not work).
I can still get into download mode but the odin flash fails every time. I've tried flashing the PIT along with the stock Image but still no luck.
Anyone have any ideas before I head out to get it replaced?
UPDATE: Tried flashing back to MA7 using the oneclick and it worked, but phone is still not activated. I can get to stock recovery now as will. Will keep working on it.

Have you tried the chameleon fix? It is here if you search for it. That might make the phone activate. If not, do what I did and flash LJC and then move up to MA7
I rooted my phone via Kingo and installed TWRP. Everything was fine. Installed various roms (CM 11, Jedi, Slim, Wicked, etc) Anyways I decided I wanted to go back to factory unrooted state. So I had put up a message on the forum asking how. Odin seemed like the popular and easiest way so I download the stock rom and put my phone into download mode. Clicked on PDA and selected the md5 file. Ran Odin and it said it was successful (Said Pass when done). Anyways my phone rebooted and now it goes through the Samsung logo and into the T Mobile logo where I hear the T-Jingle but it just stays on that screen. I did try and redo Odin and ran into the same results. I can get into Download Mode and Recovery Mode. By the way Recovery is back to the stock version.
Any help would be appreicated.
I figured it out. I went into the stock recovery and wiped everything and then installed the stock rom via zip and it worked fine after that .

Okay so here's the thing. I been following XDA for a while and I never had a problem with rooting and installing roms. Yesterday we received a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 from Sprint. I believed it's the T217S version but anyways I looked up info and found out how to root it and put a custom recovery. Everything went fine until I decided to install the Remedy Rom. Now I wasn't sure if I had to wipe anything but just to be safe I did except the SD card. After that I Installed the Remedy Rom but before I could install the Knox Remover 1.2 it had already rebooted when it rebooted it bricked on the Samsung Logo. Now I began to panic but I researched and found out running the Stock Rom from Odin would fix this little issue. After running it back to stock. I again tried to get into Recovery but this time I got a different Recovery it said no command in the background and in the top Android system recovery. I remember I installed TWRP. I'm not sure what went wrong but now I can't restore it back to how it was. I can't even get into download mode to re root it.
Can anyone help me with this dilemma?
Can no one help me with this issue?
There was a recent sprint update to this device as of a few days ago. It's possible that the older rooting and recovery may not be compatible.
You might be able to Odin back to the prior version, then try root/recovery.

Thank you for the reply. As I said I cant access download mode anymore so how can I run Odin through it? I can still boot into the Device itself I just can't enter recovery or download mode.
Hi everyone,
FIrst off, I rooted using the wrong CF-RooT. I had used the N-7100 version instead. Thank god it did not brick my phone but of course the root didn't work. So i used the proper one SGH-I317M with Odin, however it still does the installing SU, stock recovery etc but I still don't have root.
I also tried uninstalling SuperSU, then doing ODIN CF-Auto-Root then installing SUPERSU again and that still didn't work.
Does anyone have an idea of why it's not working even with the right file? Do I need to delete files install files from the 7100 that was left there etc?
Kinda lost right now.
Thanks,
Figured it out.
I had opened up KIES and used the emergency recovery. Entered in my model # and SN. Then it downloaded by my providers's aka Rogers stock 4.3 ROM. However, it kept on staying at the Samsung logo screen. I went into stock recovery mode and deleted the cache / data and all was fine after that!
Cell signal and root works....so I guess is if all else fells go back to stock using Kies.
Hi everyone,
I'm on COG5, rooted stock ROM. I've been using it fine for weeks and today I had to restart my phone. It just went into a boot loop instead of restarting.
I've restarted into TRWP and did a factory restore, but still boot loop.
I grabbed the COG5 TAR and tried to use ODIN to flash the unrooted version. However, now ODIN won't recognize my phone when I'm in download mode. For some reason it sees the phone when the phone is connected but powered off. Once I try to turn it on in download mode, everything just seems to disconnect. So I can't get it to flash the TAR. I've tried this on ODIN 3.10 and 3.07.
Is there anything else I can try? Am I doing something wrong in ODIN?
Try flashing Beastmode kernel in recovery with a cache and dalvik wipe.
If that doesn't work, Odin once worked on that PC for TWRP, right? Have you verified your Samsung driver? Uninstall and reinstall it?
Have you tried KIES to recover it?
Some PC's setup the driver incorrectly. Mine had the same issue on Windows 8.1 Pro. Read this thread OP and pay particular attention to post 14. It helped my PC see my phone in recovery.

May actually help KIES to recover your phone.
The boot loop is concerning, did you recently swap a kernel or flash something in recovery like a ROM from an older Android release? Any kernel flashed on OG5 rooted should have the kernel exploit like Beastmode has.

It is a new PC I'm working on (actually same PC, but upgraded to Win10). So I had to redo all drivers, Kies, Odin download.
But since I was still able to boot to TRWP, I just grabbed an OG5 ROM and flashed it. Everything worked, and thank goodness for my Titanium backups I was up and running with almost all my settings and stuff.
Thanks for replying though!
edit: regarding boot loop, I don't think I've needed to reboot in awhile and haven't changed anything recently. The phone needed to reboot after my kids played with it and somehow opened Adaway and in the end Adaway said a reboot was necessary. After said reboot, it was bootloop. I am running several mods in place of Xposed, so who knows if something crossed at some point.
Glad to hear you got your phone back up and running. The reason download mode wouldn't flash the stock OG5 rom onto your phone was because of the kernel currently detected.
For future reference, when using odin to restore your phone with the official OG5 tar, it looks for the stock unrooted kernel. I "think" freeza's stock root permissive "beastmode" kernel will let odin do it's thing but if not then you would need to flash a pure stock OG5 kernel and that would do the trick. I'm not sure but I think somebody made a flashable zip for the stock unrooted OG5 kernel. I may have also... I can't remember. LOL. Anyway if you have this problem again in the future keep this in mind.

If your phone is updated to OG5 or later, all you need to do in order to root and flash OBAR3 ROM is Odin TWRP recovery in download mode with auto reboot option unchecked. Wait for success...0 failed and pull USB and battery and boot to recovery and follow OBAR3 install directions.
