+1 this is a great App using the phone at night
That doesn't actually uv the screen though just so everyone is clear. The app is putting a filter on the screen not reducing brightness which if it was working they way you claimed it would have higher scores in quadrant. Test with your normal brightness setting first you will see that with brightness turned down you get higher scores but with this app it actually makes the scores go down which implies its actually using more voltage that takes away from the processor which is why the lower scores. So and which more voltage is not gonna help with battery life as the op was asking for.

No not that i know of lol you can only adjust brightness which will save battery also black helps conserve battery also so i would suggest you set a dark wallpaper and flash a dark theme
Screen Filter is cool but I notice if its lower than 54% on our phones, it gets annoying to look at. It does help with battery life when you're indoors, the second you take it outside you have to pop that thing right off. Helps to have a widget on the home screen.
Which kernel do you guys prefer? Gladdos is awesome because I love its app with sound options . App seems to also work with Franco kernel though, but as far as reliability and performance goes, which do you guys like more?

Personally I'm a big fan of the CM9 kernel. I use CMPlus by Cheekybutt simply because headphones sound like crap without Ezekeel's high performance audio mod.
I use Glados. Its outstanding. I find I can oc higher much more reliably. I use 1.6 for everyday usage which is not even seen as an option on many other kernels. on a lot of other kernels, Franco included I can't run higher than 1.35 CPU and 384GPU. I run 1.6 and 512 with glados. And the app kicks ass with tons of adjustable features!

512 GPU doesn't make a difference.. neither really does OC or UC

I heavily beg to differ. I notice a difference immediately. Everything is smoother when I do oc.
Just tried ocing the gpu in glados kernel and wow, definitely a difference! Now, at 504mhz, does it effect our battery life in a major way?

From what I've heard (not tried), the gain from OC'ing is minimal and battery consumption increase is quite big.

why do you even need to overclock? To me battery life is most essential factor and I have yet to come across a kernel that can give me satisfactory results, stock included. The screen on this thing is beautiful but eats battery like no other. I can't wait for Verizon to have a larger Note like device so we can have a larger battery.
The battery life on this phone is amazing for a Verizon LTE phone. Before I activated the phone I played with it around the house for about a week (had to take care of some things before I quit using the iPhone). I went 25 hours with 3 hours of display time. Mind you this was all on WiFi and since it wasn't activated there was no talk time. LTE is the battery destroyer not so much the screen. I have never ran this phone stock, so I have no benchmark to compare it too, but the charging times on the Franco kernel are insane. Went up 65% in 1 hour over a car charger.
I'll have to check out the Gladdos kernel.
what car charger do you have and what apps were you running? I have a 1.2amp usb charger from monoprice and with maps and pandora on it charges for a bit before it gets too hot and switches to "not charging" to not overheat. Then it stays at about the same battery level, give or take a few %

I suggest reading through the Franco.Kernel thread.. everything above 384 is minimal at best.

which brings me back to the another comment I made in another thread, LTE speeds for a phone is unnecessary. Lose battery life and pay up the wazooo if you don't have unlimited data (soon all of us)? Just a way for the big red to justify charging more. #switchingoffLTE

Then why offer a 512oc if its nothing? Reality is, the phone is noticeably smoother with it. And virtually no hit on battery life. I'm still getting high 3 hours screen on time and 20+ hours battery life. I'll take the much smoother experience for minimal battery life hit.

And as for battery life, I get 5hrs screen on with 384.
Games run smoothly, UI is smooth, what more do you need.
If you can run 512 then why not but it does not make that much of a difference.
I have used both and I find no difference.

Well, for me on my phone, its a major difference between 384 and 512. And I've seen several people comment that it is a difference on their phone too. Web pages scroll is jerky on 384 for me, and with 512 its perfectly smooth. I've never ever gotten 5 hours screen on time with any setting I've ever chosen on my phone so thats not even in the question. Max ever was 4:30 screen on, that was with screen brightness lowest possible, entire time with wifi, which is not even in the question for me on a normal day. Normal for me is high 3's.
Anyways, we all know none of these phones are the same. They react differently to different settings. All I know, is on my phone, 512 is by far smoother than 384. And at a 40% OC of the CPU (1680-1700mhz) the phone is also noticeably faster. And actually, on my old Galaxy S, 1400 was the magic number i needed for things to actually FEEL and LOOK faster, which was 40% more. Anything less than that, I couldn't notice a boost. Thats just my thought on my phone.
Its very easy to see the difference in scrolling smoothness between 512gpu and 384gpu.
All you have to do is go to theverge.com mobile site and just scroll up and down using the stock browser.
The difference is very noticeable.
Glados 1.34 seems to resolve data drop issue, so I've stuck with it for now.

ok so i just got my GSIII and downloaded cpu gauge and cpu spy
cpu gauge shows my max cores being 1.026 each I thought this is a 1.5 dual core it should show max at 1.512.... also cpu spy shows NO activity past the 1.026 mark..
phone is fully stock i have not done anything to it yet my question is, Is the phone defective and i need to return to att?? thanks
Have you turned on power saving mode? Not sure, but that may cause it.

Yea power mode, horrible feature, barely saves battery and slows phone down. Your phones cpu throttles when it needs to use its power so it saves power that way. Im on JB AOKP and with it overclocked too 1.9ghz and throttling too 197mhz I get awesome battery life. Im sitting at 35 hours on battery with 7% left with moderate use. Thats incredible!

i use the power-saving feature a lot... i get paranoid when the battery gets below 30% and i know lithium ion batteries should never be fully discharged. the phone functions surprisingly smooth at even 1000 mhz and the decrease in speed barely even unnoticeable unless you're heavily multitasking. i also have SetCPU to underclock my peak speeds even lower for certain apps, or during various charging states, or different times of the day (evenings, weekends, work hours), and overclock for more resource-intensive apps (browser, skype, games, etc.).
try undervolting your cpu as well to have the best gain in battery life. ppl often forget the voltage part of CPU especially if you are going to overclock this puppy
Hey guys, I had my phone for no more than an hour. Rooted and flashed cm10. Phone seems to get warm like 100 degrees f. And that's not using data or WiFi.
I had stock on for a little and noticed the same thing, is my phone jacked or is this normal? I have warranty so if none of you guys experience this I'll take it in. I just don't think it's too healthy for the device...

My phone gets pretty hot sometimes too, but only during heavy usage and multitasking. If you're finding that it's heating up when you're just browsing the web or installing apps, try using another kernel. I recommend Lean Kernel with CM10

Yup it can definitely do thst. I just consider it pretty normal at this point and dont pay it much mind anymore when it does warm up.

Very normal for me. Light use it can get warm. The phone bring made out the plastic (or whatever it is) and super thin doesn't help either.

Im tempted to take alluminum foil and place the shiny side facing away from the device under neath the battery cover to attempt to wick away the heat -.-
Yea its normal. Let's not forget the back cover is really thin compared to other phones. To me it makes it seem a lot hotter than it really is.

My s2 barely gets hot :/ and thats with no back cover on just a case. but the battery temps are much lower as well on the S2. usually around upper 70s to lower 80s degrees farenheit under normal load.

Personally I believe it can be rom/kernel related too. Usually it doesn't get really warm for me except under load. But with the latest leak, if im using it at all, it just stays warm. When I was first using it this morn it actually got pretty hot and when charging got even hotter. I let it cool and hasn't been that hot since.

Well in my life of hacking phones, under/overvolting seriously reduces life of the CPU.. i dont quite feel comfortable undervolting my brand new galaxy s3. lol. Unless someone can provide scientific evidence to undervolting not causeing long term harm to my CPU.

No reason to undervolt or overclock this hardware. Overclocking became irrelevant when dual cores came out. Undervolting was never relevant. People do it because they like to play around with their hardware, which I understand, though I've always been more interested in software myself.
What are you doing when the phone gets warm?
Mine seems to get hot as the battery gets low (not even on the charger).

So over in a Development thread I mentioned that I use Juice Defender Ultimate still, I got some heat for it because it's old.
What's new that I should be using instead? Running CM10 11/30 Nightly that I v6 Supercharged (Die-Hard, so I don't think Tasker will work).
I don't need anything to sync or notify me when it's in my pocket, just calls/texts via radio. I also already use CPU Sleeper and it's locked in memory via v6 bulletproof.
My goal is to make the most out of my battery.

not sure exactly. i used to use green power battery. these data killing apps used to work miracles on gb and froyo. but nowadays i think the main battery killers are the hefty processors. i now focus on kernels and governors and whatnot to save battery. i think killing data will help if it stays off most frequently. when you have the settings to turn on data as soon as the screen turns on, the device is toggling data and constantly searching for signal, maybe even killing more battery than saving.. idk thats just my opinion. and on the other hand.. if your not really using your phone so much i think it would save more in the long run. i would just test it yourself and see what works
Only thing that will improve the battery is a new phone .
I've tried everything. The best result has been ditching AOSP and going back to TW. It might not be fancy schmancy, but it functions and has marginally better battery life (at least in my experience).
Good luck on your quest. I'll probably keep my eye on this thread to see if there are any new suggestions (but not very optimistic).

I unistalled JD and set a CPU profile to reduce clock speed on lock, testing for wakelocks now as well.
Anyone know best governor/scheduler combo for battery on CM10 while still keeping it buttery? Im using OnDemand/Deadline for a few minutes and it has not dropped yet.

Sorry but no one can say for sure whats a rock solid combo. I suggest you try them all like I have to see what works best for you. After trying everything I came back to Ondemand and felt it gave me the best results but thats me.
Good app to try is Llama and its free and does all JD stuff and more
to add, regardless of what kernel i use sometimes the processor will climb to unnecessarily high frequencies when the screen is off. to tame it a little more use setcpu and enable profiles. my profile, when the screen is off, is min 384 max 540 and conservative/noop. then when the screen wakes, interactive/noop 384/1512. but im sure most of you already know this. cpu sleeper will do the trick too. beware of wake lag

I'm using the same Anket battery. I followed everyone's advice, ditched JD and made a SetCPU profile.
I think it was Google Music draining my battery so bad. It's absolutely amazing now.

I no longer use Juice Defender and, for me and my set up, JD did not have noticeable impact.
Nor did more complex strategies using Llama.
The ROMs, governors, CPU settings, and tweaks seem to be where it's at.

I have found that to be the case with every such app I've tried. The best results I've always had have come from removing apps that I don't need or use. I can get thru a full 8 hr shift, so I'm happy.

3 to 4 hour screen time here and gsam currently has me at 1 day 5 hour battery life average. without juice defender. I got rid of it when I saw it was waking my phone 150 times a day.
