Both lock screens w/o 3rd party apps? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Just got the Nexus and I guess I'm just used to being on gingerbread for so long. I used to be able to see the unlock slider option and I had the choice between Unlock/Camera/etc. I can do this now, but when I do, it just unlocks. No security at all. If I set a pattern/pin/pass it just goes straight to that and completely bypasses the slide to unlock option. I'd like the option to unlock directly to my messages, gmail, camera or Google search. So I'm looking to be able to see the normal swipe to unlock with the 5 or so different options and then be taken to my pattern screen to confirm. I googled this and the only way I have seen people "fixing" this is to install third party applications such as go locker or widgetlocker, etc. I am wondering if there's a way to do this naturally on a system level without downloading an app?
Model: Toro
ROM: ParanoidAndroid JellyBean
Kernel: Francos kernel
Thanks in advance...

Possible? Very likely it is. Has it been done yet? Not that I know of. All I have ever came across are apps like Widgetlocker.

mod to allow noticification drawer in lock screen?

The only thing I miss about iOS is the ability to preview my txts/emails without unlocking the phone even when I had a password. ICS doesn't allow this unless when you disable security with is obviously a bad idea. Any one knows how to work around this?
Not trolling, but isn't security on your lock screen supposed to protect your information? If you opt to have your info (emails, texts, etc.) displayed on your lock screen, then it renders any security measures on your device useless.
I recently came across an app that did this, but can't for the life of me remember which it was. If it comes back, I'll let you know - but you could always search...
Agree. iOS is unsecured and it is nonsense to display pop-up alerts about my personal notifications while my phone is security locked. If you really want them you may try 3rd party apps like Friendcaster for Facebook and Handcent SMS.
I use widgetlocker. I can pull my notification bar down while the screen is locked and go straight into an app with it. Also you can change the crap out of the lock screen if you want.
https://market.android.com/details?...DEsImNvbS50ZXNsYWNvaWxzdy53aWRnZXRsb2NrZXIiXQ..
I'm using the latest CM9 KANG build and it has support for this.
It doesn't need to display personal information. It only needs to show what types of notifications you have. Personally, I don't care that much if someone reads my new emails. For messages and IM, it only needs to say you have a message from X. The rest of my notifications are not at all personal.
I tried Widget locker but didn't like it.
I'll definitely try CM9.
Thanks!

You can do this with stock locker also..
Indeed, you don't need a custom Rom, third party app, mod, or whatever.
You can just pull your notification screen down when your GN is locked. That is a standard function in ICS.

This only works with slide to unlock, if password code protected you can't drag down the notification bar(which the OP seems to want).

Since I couldn't find a solution I disabled security all together. This feature, especially with slide to costume apps added with AOKP is just too good to not use. I installed avast anti-theft and will lock my phone if it falls into the wrong hands.
BTW I recommend avast mobile security. It's free and has MUCH more options that seekdroid and where's my droid.

[Q] Any way to change secondary option on slide unlock screen?

I like the slide unlock feature, but I would like to change the secondary (camera) option. Any way to make it a different app?
Yes and No.
Yes, if you are rooted, you can use a custom ROM that permits this. I am a CodeName Adroid user and you can set multiple 'targets' on the lockscreen that point to whatever app you like. You can also just change the one camera shortcut to point to something else. I am sure that many other ROMs allow for this too!
No, if you are not rooted. I'm not 100% sure on this, but there are no apps or command lines that allow you to change it without being rooted first!
My advice? Try CodeName Android as a new ROM. It's awesome!
Bummer. Thanks for the info!

you can use widget locker to do this, but it replaces the lock screen.

[Q] Unlock Screen Slider for Google Voice App

Wondering if anyone has a solution to unlocking the screen the way we do with normal SMS and MMS but for Google Voice notifications instead. It would be nice if it didn't require a separate app, more of a tweak or hack is what i'm looking for.
I attached the bubble i'm looking for. An ICS solution would be best

If you're referring to "Davis", that would be the City in which the weather is displaying. The option to display the weather on the lockscreen is in Settings-Display-Weather (Check mark it).
Oh okay so no way to put names on the screen
From the 2nd galaxy
I'm gonna go ahead and ask, what ROM is this?
And also, I've tried this before on other ROM's, to find solutions to sliders for certain apps (like GVoice) and sadly, all the times I've went researching, the only way to get them was through Widget Locker, or some other locking utility. But anyways, good luck mate.

yup, i had a gut feeling that was the only way. I hope that google eventually codes an api for the stock unlocker so that other apps can start using it. I'm running calkulin 1.6

Lock screen / pattern lock behaviour

I'm looking for a Galaxy Nexus rom that can be set up to behave like this:
When I turn on the screen, I should get the slide-to-unlock screen. So a single swipe would unlock the phone.
BUT if the screen has been off for more than 10 minutes, AFTER the slide-to-unlock screen I'd like to get the pattern lock, so I have to draw my unlock pattern to unlock the phone.
That means I'd get two lockscreens after each other when the display has been off for more than 10 minutes, but just one lockscreen if the time was shorter.
(This is exactly the way in which HTC Sense worked by default on my old Desire.)
Im currently running rooted stock Jelly Bean, and I'm using Tasker to implement this behaviour. But this is not the most elegant way... so I was wondering if there is any rom that can be configured like this WITHOUT using Tasker...
Interesting request. I've got Tasker setup so it will disable lock pattern while I'm connected to my home wifi. Does the trick for me.

So far that I've seen, no ROM does this by default. You need to download an app like go locker or widget locker. That's at least what I was told. I posted the same topic here a few days asking if it was possible to do on a system level w/o an app. Only real answer I got was that, yes it is likely possible, but hasn't been done yet.

Ive actually done the same, in addition to my 10 minutes delay.
Still, the task sometimes just doesnt work and the pattern lock doesnt get reactivated as it should... not sure why.

So Ill stick to Tasker for now I guess.
Problem is, it only works reliable when I set the Tasker task to "keep device awake", but then it just eats up the battery...
Most of the time, it also works if the "keep device awake" setting is disabled, but not always...
I wonder why Android doesnt offer this by default, as HTC Sense did. I think it makes perfect sense, since it combines the usefulness of the quick unlock actions (launch camera or google search from lockscreen) with the security of a pattern lock.

+1. I like being able to unlock straight to different apps, but don't want to sacrifice security to do so. Hopefully we start seeing this implemented into ROMs soon, or at least an option to check, in order to allow for it. Thinking about purchasing widget locker until then. :/

Yeah but then I would only have an option to unlock to certain apps while home. Where my brother could pick up my phone and do whatever he wants with it if I happen to set it down. Just as well, if I am out and about I will only have a pattern unlock and I can't open to anything but the homescreen. I want both all the time. Would be nice if I didn't have to spend money on widget locker to do so. Go locker is too much, everything GO is too much. Too over the top. From what I remember go locker always lagged on every phone I used it on too. It's not really that odd, or difficult of a request I'd think. Especially since it was stock like that on gingerbread. Guess y'all forgot since you had ICS and JB for so long. I on the other hand just got my Stratosphere (2.3.5) replaced with this and it was stock on that phone.... Also not that it matters, but what's with the little copy pasta there lol?
Just to update the OP and whoever else this may concern - this is now incorporated into BAMF Paradigm version 2.2.

[Q] Pattern/Pin Lock with Widgetlocker?

I was given Widgetlocker by a friend (He gave me a 10$ Google Play Gift Card) yesterday. I noticed that Widgetlocker doesnt have a Pattern or Pin Lock option on it, and I get my stock lockscreen on my Galaxy S3 immediately afterwards, which seems incredibly redundant.
Don't get me wrong, the application is great, and I haven't had any issues aside from this so far.
Is there any way to force Widgetlocker to use a pattern or pin lock? Or alternatively is there a way to add a camera shortcut on the stock touchwiz lockscreen?
You probably have to disable the stock lock screen for it to not show up after, or maybe a setting on widget locker, and I think the only way to get a camera shortcut is to use ripple on stock lockscreen

Well that bites. I suppose I will live without it, Its not like it takes me more than 1-5 seconds to draw my pattern/pin anyway.
Its really like that for a reason.
If you can access the camera w/o using your pin/pw/pattern, it makes using the security features pointless.
From camera you can open gallery/messaging and from there you can get to your contacts and dialer. So if someone stole or found your phone they'd have unsecured, easy access to most of your stuff.

I use lightning launcher ultimate (which has lock screen) and after clicking an app, it displays the stock pattern screen, then takes you to your shortcut, thereby security is still useful, choppy!

Actually WidgetLocker works this way too.
Enable pin/pattern on phone and ensure the option in Widget Locker to disable the stock screen is not checked.
Completely remove the swipe to unlock button and don't replace it. You'll have a blank WidgerLocker lock screen with a clock.
Long press and add apps and widgets. Change security to lock screen immediately. Power power button. Click a widget on homescreen. You'll be prompted to enter the pin/pattern! You have access to all your apps on the locker screen, with pin/pattern security simply by disabling the slide to unlock button. You're welcome (albeit months and months late.)

I realize this thread is old but I feel compelled to contribute my .02 for the benefit of those like me who's search for help on this topic leads them here.
It seems to me the OP is simply pointing out the fact that Widgetlocker doesn't offer a PIN or pattern unlock feature like those found in most other lock screen replacement apps. IMHO this a CATASTROPHIC omission by the devs of what I believe is an otherwise-outstanding app! I mean it -- I LOVE this app! The fact that something so simple and avoidable is keeping me from being able to use it pains me gravely. To be clear, yes, it appears WL can be set to give deference to system PIN/pattern security as mentioned in another post but someone please explain to me how doing this doesn't defeat the point of installing the app in the first place!
I agree that there are potential security concerns in having lock screen shortcuts bypassing the pin/pattern lock; I however disagree that such a thing necessarily "makes using security features pointless." Let's be frank. Some of us have much bigger security concerns than worrying about who might be snooping through our pictures or contact lists, but even in the event that such things are the aggregate of one's sensitive "stuff" there are ways to achieve essential functionality without turning over the keys to one's deepest, darkest secrets. One could, for example, simply download a basic camera app without a gallery link, or a standalone dialer app with a null (or decoy) contact list. With a bit of hackery one needn't even give up the comfort or utility of full-feature apps in this regard. Failing this, there are still plenty of other apps one might want quick and unfettered access to which do NOT pose an inherent security risk (i.e. music player, flashlight, weather, stopwatch/timer, calculator, universal remote, fruit ninja, etc.). What's the point of having shortcuts/widgets on the lock screen if you have to unlock your device to access them? Why not just use the shortcuts/widgets on the home screen if you're going to go to the trouble to make an effort commensurate to that end anyhow?
