I live in Southern California in a suburb of Los Angeles and i believe there is a 3G outage. My calls and text messages work but not 3G. WiFi works. And i don't believe it to be a bad ROM or kernel since i didn't flash anything the entire day. It started about at like 10:00. Anyone experiencing an outage too or is it just me?
I live in Hollister, CA and the same thing happened to me, I'd have to say also around the same time
I can still make calls and send/receive texts, but no data
I was running Myn's RLS4
I tried *228, but that didn't work
Then I flashed the latest CM and tried *228 but still nothing
Good to know I don't seem to be the only person that this has happened to
There's another topic about this that I encountered earlier - this issue is definitely widespread across VzW and the US. I'm still without 3G and I'm in MD.

I had a brief outage yesterday as well - not sure how long it lasted, just know it was 15 minutes or so after I found it. "Just like that, it was gone."

Yep thats right. If you know me then you know what I say is true. There was a problem with the EVDO's DNS serverthat started at around 12:45 am EST and was resolved a few hours later. You could ping it but it stopped doing it's job. If you put in like 8.8.8.8 (Google's DNS) manually then it worked fine ;-) It was during the maintenance window though ;-)

I've looked everywhere in my menus..
Where do you change DNS settings??

Last night I had on WIFI all night, usually I don't. I just do not bother with it as I have unlimited data.
This morning I wake up, turn it off and my bars were grey...as expected for a bit...but then nothing. So, I tried toggling airplane mode, toggling to CDMA/LTE to CDMA, turning on of mobile data, restarted the phone, and a battery pull.
Any and all help would be appreciated. I really dont want to return the phone. It's just the way I like it.

EDIT: I turned off mobile data for about 5 minutes, then back on and it is working. Do not know if that actually helped but I am getting 3G again.
Same here. No data issues until today, now I can't get it to come up.

It's a huge outage. Nationwide apparently. They are working on it. What's crazy with mine is I just finished rooting mine and when it booted back up, no data. Thought I broke it at first. lol

There is wide spread 3g and 4g data issue with verizon across the united states. I read it on gizmodo.com

I have voice and data after switching to CDMA only and rebooting. I also flashed the 4.0.3 radio so maybe that had something to do with it. Data is slow but usable.
My galaxy s II has been going unbelievably slow.. 0.02 mbps, the most i've gotten is 9 mbps and that was ONCE when i opened my phone.. is there any idea why my phones so slow? It is rooted, but running stock 2.3.6
Are you using the latest sim card (one that came with the phone?) and your wifi calling works? My data speeds jumped from 7mbps to to 11 mbps as soon as I used the newer sim card.

Yes I am, I got it with my first galaxy s II (it had a problem so i got a new one,) it actually slowed my other phone down and froze it for a good 30 minutes, this one nothings been wrong since today, but I got slow speeds, now i'm getting even SLOWER..

Corpus christi, Texas. 4 bars right now, on 4g. Plan Unlimited 2GB havent gone over..

Only happens with data, I never get 3G/Edge it just says 4g and acts like its doing its HSPA+ speeds..

4g is 3g just marketing . suprised you never get the E though. Have you tried going into airplane mode then back?

Try a speed test at night, at night I can get 15MBPS, 19 max...
During the day I average 3-4 and get 6 MAX.
It's terrible during the day.
Those are exactly throttle speeds. .06 mbps. You sure you're good on data? This has happened to me too though when I hadn't gone over. When my account was transferred from a consumer line to a dealer line I started randomly getting throttle speeds or slower. No phone rep could figure out what was wrong, I went through several SIM's, and even did a warranty exchange on the phone. Eventually my tmo rep did something on the back end and the problem went away. I wish I knew what he did so I could make a recommendation. Either way, good luck.

Sounds like it's throttled to me, call #932# what does it say for you're data use?
Did you change the APN settings at all? What do they say?
Settings > Wireless > Mobile Networks > APN
I put my S3 into airplane mode for about an hour, and when I turned off airplane mode, I no longer have a data connection. It connects to the network, because I can still call or text, but there's absolutely no data connection. Also, now when I turn wifi on I lose all cell connection, so I can't even call.
I'm on the stock rooted rom. Any ideas? It was working fine before I put it into airplane mode.

I think most of California is having problems. When I called 611 I got an automated message saying west coast is having problems.. Operator said should be fixed tomorrow 4pm

Oh okay, im in the San Francisco bay area as well, and am getting no data either.
EDIT:
Weird, in my house we have two s3's and one iphone 4s. One s3 is stock, has no data. My s3 is rooted & romed, no data and cutting out on signal in general, 4s is stock and gets full HSPA bars. Data works no problem.
The problem is with lte only I think. Try to force your s3 onto hspa

Under "Network mode" my phone is stuck in "GSM/WCDMA preferred". I cant even switch it to "LTE/GSM/WCDMA preferred". Sometimes it will say it has 3g, but it wont connect.
try switching the apn to wap.cingular from pta. this worked for me.
I am having exactly the same issues. I live in Davis, California, around an hour drive from San Francisco. I get no data at all. Sometimes even all signal will drop, can't even make calls.
Running AOKP 4.1.2 10/22. Thought it was a ROM issue, but looks like it isn't.
Hopefully this is fixed tomorrow, I have a very busy schedule that requires my phone!

Was just gonna post a question about having data connection issues, but thanks for the info. I'm in San Diego and also am having issues.
i was having same issue its ATT LTE apn setting..just changed setting on my an my girls phone to H+ an data works now..I live in between fresno and Bakersfield
Oh damn I was going crazy trying to see what was wrong with my phone. I'm in the los Angeles area and I can't get data and my signal continuously drops. Also noticed I can't use 4g as my preferred network. My gf iPhone 4s has full bars.
I was on aokp ROM and flashed another one thinking that was it but the problem continues

This is the same ROM im running, and switching to att WAP fixed the problem.
Nor Cal here. Concord. Got my LTE back around 11p.

Southern California here, oc, have lte signal but 700k download speeds..
Seems they are working on it
At least I have solid voice.. Earlier I would drop the signal entirely.. Not anymore.

Weird. The network issues are so randomly sporadic. My LTE speeds seem to be pretty normal here.

Working fine for me...I haven't been hitting LTE lately though. I drove all the way from Humble down to League City and had data all the way.

Made one call this morning through my car just fine and just called voicemail as well...
OK got something...went into network and disabled LTE and it's working...maybe the LTE towers are being worked on...
Still kinda goofy because the LTE/4G/3G is set to "auto" like it should try to find the 4G but it wasn't...
Yeah, I've been keeping LTE off for now until they work everything out. I noticed LTE was draining my battery even though it wasn't connecting to the LTE network.
Ouch...that's like NOT slamming the throttle down in my Mustang, gonna be rough, LOL...
I'm connected almost always with WIFI anyway, i'll check every now and then to see if they're getting it worked out...Thanks for the help!
Well I still connect to the 4G HSPA network so I'm just getting the speeds I'm used to. I would love to get LTE but it doesn't bother me too much. Plus in my office I BARELY connect to 4G if I keep my phone in one square foot of space on my desk...other than that I get EDGE only...
Yeah i'm usually UMTS at home but had great LTE at work for the first couple weeks of it (mid 20 down, mid teen up)...it is what it is for now, just want to make sure that when i get on the road tonight for NOLA that my phone isn't screwed, finding fixes like that suck, lol...
