I'm currently using CM10 JB rom on my HTC One X and really miss the "swype" like feature of the original HTC keyboard ie. the "trace" option. Does anyone know if this HTC trace keyboard is available for download anywhere?
I don't want to use "swype beta" because of the built in nonsense (data collection etc) and plus I really liked the HTC one when I was still using stock rom.

I started with an HTC Aria and got used to the keyboard, which is different than the stock Android keyboard found on the A101. I have tried the gimpsta themer site that creates an apk, customized keyboard. I have successfully installed the apk, but it isn't working. All I get is force closes when I try to select it.
Has anyone had any luck installing this keyboard or any other that has the same look and layout of the HTC keyboard?
I tried the one from the HTC Incredible but no luck, they have some HTC specific libraries that would need to be ported over. I am not that handy yet!
I was wondering if the HTC dialler has been pulled out from a Sense ROM, and whether it would work with CM7 ? Or would it get b0rked because of the lack of Sense, friendstream stuff, and having no 'Sense contacts' etc ?
I ask as i'm running CM7, but don't really like the stock dialler (no T9 search through contacts), or Dialler One as i'm using now. Although Dialler One seems to be the best alternative i have found so far. So if anyone has any other 3rd party developed options i'm open to suggestions.
The HTC-Dialler won't work, because it needs the sense-libraries.
but you can find many alternatives, such as Dialer2 (https://market.android.com/details?id=org.dnaq.dialer2&feature=search_result).
or just take a short look here
Bah, thought that would be the case, but would ask just in case. Oh well i'll have to keep trying alternatives then.
T9 dialer being only one feature of all built in awesomeness which Sense holds under the 'hood'. Although I do not use HTC widgets, those little things are the reason I rarely manage to stick with aosp for long.

Hi,
I own a HTC Sensation XE and I use the ARHD v6.51 ROM with ICS v4.0.3. Before this device I have used a HTC Desire HD with Gingerbread v2.35. The HTC Keyboard with Gingerbread contained Arrow-Keys below the spacebar - the new ICS Keyboard does not have this four keys.
Is there any chance to get the old Gingerbread-Keyboard to work? Most important is that I want to use the HTC Keyboard, no other solution.
Thanks!

Unlikely that it will work. I haven't see any like that for ICS.
The HTC IME mod will work in ICS (tested this) but it has no arrow keys.
Smart Keyboard Pro on the Market has arrow keys and is functionally identical to the HTC keyboard, with more capabilities.
is this enough for you?

Thanks for the link. Will check it out soon (when there will be an open Download-Slot ).
The most important thing is that I can import my personal dictionary to the keyboard because it saves so much time - and my whole dictionary was created on 3-4 different HTC Keyboards over the past few months.
I checked out the Keyboard. Many thanks. Its exactly what I need
heres a screenshot of my new keyboard....

Here is a sample snapshot of my keyboard with arrows including font changes !!!!
WTF! Comic Sans MS???
Nope its not comic sans, its a font called ChinaCat.
Not only the keyboard, this font is applied everywhere on the phone.

Hi, thanks....its an app called "Thumb keyboard" , downloaded from google play, and for the fonts, you can use an app called "Font changer", that too from play store.
You need to be rooted to apply them.
Cheers.!!
Today, as I was trying to install Swype on my WFS, I noticed that on the homepage it said 'Now on the HTC Wildfire S', meaning it now comes pre-installed on our devices (the link takes you the the Sprint homepage, so I think this might only be for Sprint phones).
So, my question is, is there a port for the full version of Swype for the Wildfire S, or could it be developed, instead of the beta version which takes up 10 megabytes of space?
You can root your phone. When you've done that there is enough space for the beta :3

Nah, I have the beta, the space doesn't bother me. The lag while typing does I mean, swyping works fine and fast, but tying isn't really all that, and I usually don't type in English, and I can't swype in my own language. It's not really a problem, though, I was just curious about it, since it apparently comes shipped with our devices now.
It comes preinstalled on all MetroPCS Wildfire S's. Its the full version, not the beta. Typing still lags. Swyping lags.
It literally is the first thing I remove with Root Explorer.
If you'd like the full copy, download the MetroPCS custom ROM made by Team Blueridge and yank it out of /system/apps. Then install it into /system/apps on your phone.

Thanks for the tip =]. I keep Swype installed in case I need to chat with a foreigner, but I never use it as a default keyboard because of the lag. HTC's keyboard is one of the best out there for classic typing
I would like to know how can i get the m7 keyboard on my m9? Tbh i like the keyboard on the m7 a lot more.
Which keyboard do you mean - the build-in HTC Sense Input?
I'm skeptical about the possibility of bringing the old keyboard from a phone two generations back (and an earlier version of Sense), but perhaps you can try grabbing the APK and installing it on the M9.
Yes, the htc sense input on the m7
How do i grab the apk of the keyboard?
