Does anybody know where the default browser icon image is located? I want to change Dolphin Browser beta's thumbnail to the default, because the icon for Dolphin doesn't look that great. Thanks.
EDIT: I found it, for anyone who would like to know it's in /system/app/Browser.apk, open it with a .rar viewer and navigate to /res/mipmap-hdpi/mdpi/xhdpi (depends on your phone), then extract ic_launcher_browser.png.

Hi Guys,
Can anyone help me with this problem?
My main browser is Opera however when I click on a link from an app (for example from Pockettwitter or my RSS reader) the web page opens up in Internet Explorer.
I hate having to use IE as the pages never fit etc....How can I change it so that when i click on these links they open in Opera?
Thanks.
anyone help with this?
I thought it would be an easy one!
If anyone else is bothered by the same problem as me this is what you need to do.
Download JZ SmartMort v1.5 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382043
It does lots of hardcore techy stuff but more importantly for me is that it has an default browser option in it's settings (go to JZ Settings from your programs list, then JZ Browser options, then Choose a Default Browser, select Opera).
See? I told you it would be easy didn't I?
This has been annoying me for ages... thanks for providing a solution - I'm about to give it a go.
You should setting IE to defalut browser
1.Go to IE browser and start
2.Enter URL www.google.com ( you can find other web site )
3.If web page show go to bookmark icon and add google to bookmark
4.Exit IE and push internet shotcut for add google to shotcut from favorities
5.Push google shotcut and wait for web page show 100 %
6.Exit IE and see picture on google shutcut
7.Go to windows by resco file explorer and find folder name Thumbnail
8.In the Thumbnail folder will show xxx.tmp.bmp
9.You can create picture .bmp size is 256x256 and rename to xxx.tmp.bmp
10.Replace your picture in Thumbnail folder
11.If picture can't change you should restart TF3D again
*** After set picture shotcut don't push your shotcut form ie web browser because picture is change everytime. You should setting other browser to default browser don't used IE
This way work for me
*** Install iris browser and go to page > option > perferences > and select set as default web browser
Thanks. It works great!
Hi,
The default / stock web browser in HTC Desire, is that it?
I found the user interface is not that good
- Is there any easier way to go to the bookmarks instead of pressing the "menu" button then bokmarks
- Is there any way to add FOLDER or GROUP in the bookmark?
Is this HTC limitation or Google Android limitation?
Its a No to all your questions really. What I do is have a folder on my home screen, and then create bookmarks for all my favourite sites and put them in the folder. Then I just need to open the folder and go straight to my bookmarked website. Its fast and easier this way.
Other option is to get Dolphin browser, an excellent browser. It`ll allow one tap of the icon at the top right to access your bookmarks. It uses gestures too so you can set one up for bookmarks.
Have used Dolphin since it was released and its always improving, but I still go back to the default browser as it does a better job of pinch/zoom.
Does anyone know if there is an "Inverted screen rendering" widget or toggle for that stock browser Accessability setting?
Thanks.
+1 that. Looking for same.
+1 I'd like to be able to quick toggle this while browsing. It's great that we can do it in the browser but its a little clunky having to go through settings to do it.
I use this userstyle css in Opera Mobile. It does the same thing as the stock browser and makes the backgrounds full black, but it keeps the images in their original color which the stock browser doesn't do. This might save you from having to toggle. Extract the zip and put the css anywhere on your device. Go to opera:config and search for user css and use the attached one.
Credit goes to reddit user melhouse.
I upgraded to frosty jellybean, which I think is using the browser from the Galaxy Note 2.
In the updated browser, hovering over image which is also a link, opening the link a new window is no longer an option. Instead the submenu has the options to save image or set it as a wallpaper.
So I'm wondering if someone could upload the old browser apk. Or If someone knows of a fix to get the old submenu back (since the new browser is more fluid and smooth).
That or if I could remove the integrated video player in chrome, which sucks donkey balls, and replace it with the external samsung video player.
