I have experienced an issue with the Samsung S3 recently. It is regarding the spellcheck or keyboard issue with "i".
Whenever I typed "i" in front of a word, it becomes capitalised.
Let me try to explaIn the best I could.
For example, when I type "The brown fox jumps over the lazy dog", and I missed out the word "quick" in front of "brown", I will place the cursor in front of "brown" and type "quick", the "i" becomes capitalised and becomes "qulck" (Note the captialised "I" in the "qulck").
This is frustrating as at times I need to key in missing words. I have tried on another Galaxy S3 and this is the same. I have tried on Galaxy Note and it has no problems.
I would appreciate if you or other forummer have the same issue.
Would like to know how to resolve it.
Thanks.
I had this issue also..what I had to do was turn off auto correction. You see If I turn It on It does thIs..This issue came with the new LG8 update along wIth the new keyboard..

Any other suggestions from you or any other forummers?
Thanks.
Just to inform you guys that this spelling issue is resolved with the latest Samsung update as at 8 August 2012.
Cheers.

Apple just fears having to throw all their latest technology into one device to keep up with the competition now that Steve Jobs isn't there to, um... innovate? Oh, sorry, I meant screw over the more ignorant percentage of American consumers.

I've posted this on several forums, since I haven't seen anyone bring this issue up yet.
Basically, I've noticed on the Phone screen and on the Clock screen, there seems to be this "Light Bleeding" effect near the power button. I went back to the Sprint store and confirmed that it's an issue as their display device had the same problem, and a new device they opened had the same issue. I don't know if it's just a bad batch of phones, or if this is some sort of software issue that'll get addressed in an update.
Anyone notice this?
Erm, dude... This "bleeding" effect means there's a tab there. Just scroll your finger on the tab bar, and *BAM* a new one will appear
Yh lol took me a while to find that out as well. Was looking for the keypad for ages
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
i have light going true just by the home button on back button side. damn
If it truly was light bleed then a screenshot would not show it. As above, it means there's tabs to the right. Grab the tabs and scroll for more
Got the same answer in another forum. Thanks for the quick response. First time using Android coming from BB. I'm sure there will be more things come up that I won't know about.
I know you are a new user, so you didn't know this, but how come sprint staff didn't know this?
this is just a visual effect to signify off screen tabs and not a hardware/software error, should really edit your post to site you made a mistake and made a hasty thread, not to mention the dumb ass reps at Sprint, just shows resellers dont have a clue when it comes to what they are actually selling.
That was funny

I didn't say there was a light leak. I said there was an effect that looked as such. I went through the proper channels (Sprint Corporate Store > Searched Online) and finally I asked in the forum. If that, and asking questions shows stupidity, then your reply can only assert even more ignorance. If you really have nothing to say that deals with the topic, then you'd be better off not replying at all.
Thanks.

Just different voices is all. Samsung (I think) sounds better.
Now onto a recommendation -
We Android users knew that the Apple people were going to show off Siri for a while, what the iPhone people may not know is how utterly useless all those voice recognition/AI apps are. Android has had these things for so long and they are only a novelty. Show off to your friends, use once or twice, move on and start typing everything you need.
No need to find better because it is going to just be a waste. Laugh at what the iPhone users show you, tell them it's cute, and then ask them to come back in two weeks and let you know how often they have actually used it.
Open Siri, hit microphone, "Do I need an umbrella in NY?" - How stupid is that?
Hold my search button, "Weather NY." - Easier and makes more sense.
Neither matters.

Please don't say it's AI. It's far from AI. It's voice recognition and control that's deeply integrated within a limited operating system. To say it's intelligent is not fully understanding the definition of intelligence.

Unless that thing is able to think on it's own, it is really not that intelligent.
I loaded up some of the Android apps to play with and then said to myself, when the heck will I ever use this. When I am sitting in my bedroom home alone so no one see's me having a conversation with my phone. I obviously removed all of them and kept my reliable Google Voice Search.
Google Voice Search on Android does everything I need it to minus having an actual dumb conversation with my phone. It gets me any information that I need and ask of it. Isn't that the main point of a program like this?
Why do people have to come in a thread and complain? If it doesn't interest you why even enter.
Obviously you guys haven't played with a 4S and understand that its not voice recognition.

Thanks god nobody got injured, but I seriously got a little irritated by this post. You put other people in danger because you were playing with your phone. glad it was only metal which was bent ....I think talking on cell phone and driving should be worth a ticket in Florida ....
You don't have those commercials where you live? The one where it'll have just one word in black text over a white background (for example)
"Hey"
Then it has someone explain how that was the last word their son/daughter/brother/sister etc. ever saw because that was the text message they were reading when they got into a fatal car accident.
I see the commercial almost daily here and don't personally need to be reminded, but the gesture is nice I suppose.
What you have to remember is that you are responsible for moving thousands of pounds of sharp, jagged metal, glass and combustible fuels. Generally speaking, none of these play very well with the human body. If you stop paying attention to what you're doing for even a second, you can effectively turn your car into a wrecking ball or missile.
There are plenty of ways to have your texts read to you via Bluetooth headsets or over your car speakers. This is Android, we can literally do just about anything with these phones.
(Off topic Apple rant spawned from this)
Every time I get in a car with an iPhone user they are always driving and messing with texts or music. Freaking idiots.
Just to clear the air a bit and I should have posted this from the beginning, I wasnt TEXTING or TALKING on the phone. I was merely flipping thru tracks on my music player and got distracted. I'm not saying this makes it any better, rather I am just stating the facts. I have apologized to the people I hit and I am TRULY SORRY not that it matters to anyone here. This can happen to anyone and I just hope that it doesnt. Lesson learned.

No, My wife has had the Note 1 since it came out and people still ask her about it.
I love "the best phone I ever owned!" I am coming over from the Apple universe and although I am still learning my way around Android... I absolutely love this phone!
I moved up from an iphone 4s and just holding the iphone now makes me feel like I'm handling a baby mouse. I could NEVER go back to such a small screen. Honestly the Note 2 doesn't even look that big. I've already gotten used to the bump up in screen size. Problem is the market is saturated with "baby mice" and when a rat comes along they freak out.

Hello, I'm sporting N5110 version, no LTE or 3g so it doesn't have a phone functionality. But there is something I don't know what is this for? A little hole above power button. Look like a mic hole, if I get one, at the bottom side next to the right speaker. I'm using gel cover for my Note and there are two holes in it: one for mic (if I get one) and other one above power button. I took a look and I found that there is this tiny hole.
What is it for?
Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 N5110 and the Galaxy Note 8.0 N5120 are almost identical with the only difference that the N5110 is WIFI only and the N5120 supports 3G, LTE & Cellular Network and IMHO Samsung just used the same template for both devices

Well, it seems like it may! Because i have that hole and I don't have a hole for mic on the bottom side. I know whag are you talking abut, that all Note 8's have same chasis, just different features. But it seems like they don't, otherwise I should get prop hole for mic, too, but I haven't.
Anyway, I have it or not, can't you answer my question, which wasn't if I have something or nor but what is speakerphone?
Speakerphone is nothing more then a microphone that allows you to hold the phone a little distance away from your face when in a phone call, this can either be half-duplex "one way" or full-duplex "two way" but since the N5110 is WIFI only this feature is not relevant for the device since it cannot make phone calls, now moving forward.
I do apologize for my ignorance, I took my N5110 out of its case and looked to see if it had a microphone hole located at the bottom and realized that I indeed did not have a microphone there either, so having said that I can only come to the conclusion that the microphone/speakerphone hole on the side located above the power button is the microphone for the N5110 to be used for lets say S-voice, video recordings or Skype.
That is about as good of an explanation I can give
Hoping this was a much better answer

Still hating when someone complains about interpunction, capital letters and other minor flaws in writing style, making it big dwal but not answerin questions.

I'm glad I could be of a little help but running for president is going a little far if not entirely impossible especially since I am Dutch and not a US citizen nevertheless thank you for the kind words
