Unrooting Nexus Without USB - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi Guys!
Now that i got that error with the USB Plug not working I need to unroot my phone and send it back to samsung (I already figured that relocking the bootloader isnt possible but i guess ill let it come to that).
All the tutorials i found where using fastbood and not the recovery, right now I'm on a rooted JB Rom, after ich had several Custom Roms installed (i.e. CM9)
Is there any way to get back to stock just using the recovery and not having to use the USB port?
Thanks in Advance

It's possible to relock the bootloader if you have root.
There is a guide on how to go back to complete stock + locked bootloader w/o USB cable.
Maybe i should drill myself a few times with it, let me dig out the link.:good:
Here you go!

[Q] Unroot and relock bootloader with broken USB port

Hey guys.
My GNex's USB port recently stopped working, so is there any way to get it back to stock (for warranty purposes)? Would adb wireless work?
Thanks in advance.
I'm guessing downloading mobile Odin and finding a stock image to flash. All done from your phone.
Edit: I don't know if you can relock your bootloader. Will any terminal app helps.

I doubt one can lock their bootloader from mobile terminal due to that fact that oem lock is from fastboot. But then again, I may be wrong.
it's impossible! sure you can access adb over the network but the bootloader is only configurable trough the usb with fastboot. seems like you need to fix your usb port to relock the bootloader :-/

Ok thanks, that's what I thought and feared.
I'll go and try to get it exchanged with the bootloader unlocked then, and hope for the best.

How did the replacement go? I'm in the same sort of situation... I plugged my phone in tonight and the power port shorted, burnt the end of the charge cable and needless to say the port no longer works.
I'm debating going through Bell Warranty or using the Insurance coverage which comes with a charge. Gotta love the UNLOCKED Icon when you boot the phone :|

Well after using mobile odin to flash stock images, the usb port magically started working again, although only partially, and I could relock the bootloader, so I don't know what would have happened with it unlocked.

strange, glad it worked out for you! I went for the replacement phone through the Bell insurance option, It'll be here within 3 business days. Given my power port is physically burnt I'm not so lucky.

Can I revert back to stock without a computer?

Can I revert back to stock without a computer (just like it was when I first bought it, locked bootloader and all)? I don't have access to my computer at this time and want to revert back to factory stock all from my phone. Is this possible? Any links to assist with this?
Thanks.
to get to a stock rom yes it's possible. you will not be able to lock the bootloader as far as i know.

A couple of people have posted similar threads and no, there is no way to lock the bootloader without a computer.
One user who was trying to send his phone in with a broken USB port actually tore his phone down and ghetto rigged his USB port to work...lol.

Unique solution that i think possible if you can't flash in bootloader is using stock zip flashable file, passed with airdroid and flash stock but you can't flash stock recovery without bootloader, for lock bootloader i saw trickster mod ( root app ) option but is experimental
Are you sure that is Phone problem and not driver on PC/Usb port damaged on pc? it's strange :/

[Q] Some Rooting Questions About The Nexus 7 Flo

Hi,
Sorry for the silly questions. I just want to quickly check some things about the Nexus 7 Flo.
QUESTION 1: I'm constantly scared of bricking my device when rooting it. If I brick it when rooting, will ASUS repair it? If not, is there a tool I can use to unbrick?
QUESTION 2: If I use the All-In-One toolkit, how likely is a soft brick/hard brick? Can I un-everything (unroot + lock + install stock ROM + stock recovery) using the All-In-One toolkit if I need to?
QUESTION 3: If something happens with the hardware (e.g. port broken, screen cracked) and I am everything'ed (root + unlock + ROM installed + custom recovery), will ASUS repair it?
QUESTION 4: Can we get ParanoidAndroid 3+ for Nexus 7 Flo yet?
Thank you, and sorry for the noob questions!

As far as I know, you don't have to unlock the bootloader to root. If you do, and need a repair, see question 2.

I would say unlikely to soft brick, and very unlikely to hard brick. And yes, you should be able to undo everything with a toolkit / fastboot commands.

If the USB port breaks you might have a problem, since you need USB connection to issue fastboot commands, which are used to restore the device to locked, stock state. If the firmware is altered and/or the bootloader is unlocked, the warranty is void.

@ameinild, will ASUS still repair it for me (but for a fee), or will they refuse to repair it at all? I don't understand warranties

Honestly I have no idea. I'm not too sure about how vendor repairs work either.
But as long as you don't erase or corrupt your bootloader (which would be an amazingly stupid thing to do) or smash your USB port, you should be good.
@ameinild, I have another question: Will ASUS know my device has been previously rooted or unlocked? Is there a triangle or something? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure they can't know that in any way - I don't believe Nexus devices have a counter...

Not entirely true. Ordered mine from B&H, rooted, etc., and woke the next morning with a hard brick. Even restoring through fastboot did not work. So I wiped system, recovery, and boot, relocked the bootloader, and sent the device back for a refund. Just received the refund today without question. Simply told the customer service dude the device wouldn't boot when I received it. I know, a little dishonest, but I followed all instructions to a T, I believe it was a hardware issue anyway, though I only overclocked to 1800 or so.

But you still managed to relock your bootloader, meaning fastboot worked which is the important thing.

Return to stock

I rooted my phone and flashed some custom rom.
It's 1 year the usb port is not working anymore and now I want to repair the phone (still in warranty) so I'll send it at HTC service shop. I don't wanna have problems with the warranty, it's only an hardware problem, so I want to go back to stock beacuse they HAVE TO fix my problem, even if the problem is not related with the root.
Is there a way to return to stock not using the usb port but only the SD card?
I'd want to be more stock as possible, so first I have to find the stock rom (and I think I can't use the RUUs because of the USB not working).
Then I should return to stock recovery and to stock bootloader, but I totally don't know how to do it.
Please help me, I don't want to change phone, I love my WFS...Thanks!
