If you call retentions, more than likely they'll take care of you. If you're out of contract retentions entire job is to keep you from leaving. The way they could handle this situation is more or less set it up in the system as if you were going to cancel, but locked into another contract... more or less, as if you had cancelled, then signed up as a new customer. In fact, that might be how they'd do it.
Give them a call and try.

I really would wait if I were you, signs of this means a new Nexus phone is in the making by Google. Which I would buy because GS2 has been a mess with ICS, and I am secured updates with a Nexus device!

Rethink that. Sprints version of the galaxy nexus is not supported by Google. The sprint version is code named the toroplus, look it up. Good development community though

I'm not sure that device is any better than what we have now, in fact it might be worse.

I know ICS runs better on it. Smoother In my opinion. My wife has one. I talked to Samsung this morning and according to them Sprint is hustling Epic owners about a bug fix update. The Samsung Supervisor even said it was never recommended that Sprint push the update. She said no update is in the works for this model. The funny thing about it is Samsung says there call lines are flooded with Epic owners having issues and Sprint tells me there are not any problems and I need to take out insurance. That will be a cold day in Hell!

Where did you exactly find that info?everything I saw was that the nexus was called "toroplus"as in the model name.everything I read is that it is Google powered and there roms for it..please lead me to the direction you saw what you did.

Read in the galaxy nexus forums, most people say don't get the sprint or verizon versions as they don't get their updates like the ones purchased through google play.Still good phones etc, just not the same google experience.

Hey guys i had one sprint nexus i never seen like this phone so f*** crupy does not have good network, radio, worset battery,
I sold on ebay anf boughy sgs2 best phone so far i got. Please i recommend for people stop buying this phone. I don't know verizon nexus sprint hell no.

[Q] Planning an upgrade!

Let me start off with saying sorry if this is the wrong thread/forum to locate this:
I have an upgrade with AT&T that I can use and I am highly interested in the Galaxy S3, however I am more cautious than my last upgrade because I previously upgraded to the Nokia Lumia 900 and just a few weeks later, they released no windows 8 upgrade, etc for it. I am worried that if I plan to get the S3 somehow I will miss out on the next S4. I guess what I am asking is should I wait or go ahead with the upgrade. I am interested in it now, because I can get it for 149.99 and get a free $50 dollar credit to the google play store. Any advice would be great, thanks!

The S3 is a great phone with really good dev support. The S4 hasn't even been announced yet so that means it's going to be over 6 months before the US ever sees it. If I were you I would get the S3 now. At $150 +$50 play store credit that is a pretty decent deal.
We just got 4.1 jellybean and 4.2 (I think) is looking promising, hopefully. I mean, we still have approximately a year left of support from Sammy.

I am really tempted to, because I've fallen in love with android, I got interested when I bought a S2 skyrocket of ebay and really am enjoying it. That's good news about 4.2, it looks awesome.

If any kind of SIV is releasing in April, it would be the international version, and even that is highly unlikely.
An announcement of the international version might come in April, but I highly doubt that the U.S variants will be in stores before June at the earliest.

I've been enjoying the GS3 for half a year now; excellent phone. As others have said, the S3 won't go obsolete anytime soon. If you can, see if they have the Nexus 4. Really digging that one

Ive heard bad things from a few people about the N4. Mainly build quality and battery life for starters.

Really??? Then again, I've just been reading reviews and haven't actually seen someone with an one. But from what I see, the build quality looks excellent... only downside is the inability to change the battery/back cover at ease. Not sure about the battery life though :S

I work at att and we were told that s4 might be different names and slightly different hardware per carrier like they did with the first galaxy line

I just made the upgrade myself from the skyrocket to the g3. So far i like the g3 just got it today so havent played with it too much. I couldnt pass up the deal i got it for 50 bucks.

If that's the case, I will most definitely not be purchasing it. I can only imagine the update delays when there are multiple carrier variants floating around. In fact, I think I'm done with carrier-branded phones altogether. As noted by another user, the GS3 is not going to become obsolete any time soon, so I may just hold out until the next Nexus, in hopes that it'll come with LTE. ::fingers crossed::

Good. Apple blows. Android has been outselling ios 3-1 for a while. Thats why apple sues everyone. The release of the sgs2 was a game changer and since android has taken over. Hell the sgs2 still out sells iphone 5. I hate apple with a passion.

Well you kinda can't blame them if they had really old laggy androids. My girlfriend had an lg Optimus s which was one of those phones and hated it so much she got the 4s. Makes me cringe saying that but the new Android phones out now are simply incredible. People don't know what they're missing. Once a sheep always a sheep I guess lol.

Yeah but if you're in my boat financially lol, once you upgrade you're STUCK with it for two years! So I don't really want last year's model when I could just wait a couple more months. This phone kicks ass anyway lol!

I've already upgraded from my et4g twice since nov. First went to the s3 now the note 2. Definitely wasnt disappointed with either. I actually just sold my s3 for $100 cuz I busted the screen. So the buyer got a month old s3 for $100 + $130 for new screen = $230 they got a sweet deal they're a member here too that I know outside of xda and they were upgrading from the et4g maybe they'll stop by and chime in on the difference and if they are happy or not with the s3. The s4 is still 6 months or so out. Its estimated date to go on sale for the international version is sometime in June and US 1-2 months later so youre looking at july or august b4 US carriers will have em

I've been hearing on different tech site's the s4 might come out as early as April. Either way I'm very happy with this device at the moment anyway so I can wait. This phone should be really nice once we get source I'm thinking.
Edit: I'm also coming to this device a couple months ago from the 3d so probably why I'm content with this for now.

Yeah I usually switch devices every 6 months or so cuz my dad likes to buy the newest one that comes out and give me his old one. I'm actually sitting on 2 upgrades now cuz of him giving me the et4g and s3 I used one of my upgrades on the note 2 tho cuz I wanted it when he dumped the s3 on me and I didnt have am upgrade available yet. They all came up dec 1 jan 2 and jan 15 lol used dec 1 on note the same day it was available after I sold some sucker from Craigslist my et4g with all the accessories for $300

Exactly it frustrates me. Every one goes for the free phone. I spent over $200 for my s2 on launch day with a smile! What I'm saying is that if more people went for flagship android devices it would change their mind

Yes sir. I'm loving the s3. Good looks on telling me first and holding on till I bought it. I also like to upgrade ever few months. I'm waiting for the s4 to use one of my upgrades.

On the box it's called the galaxy note 2 so it has something to do with the galaxy line. OP, Sprint won't drop the price for awhile. Maybe never. If you want it asap then look to other dealers or buying it used.

I doubt there's going to be a price drop on the Note 2. Not till the Note 3 anyways.. You guys are comparing a phablet to a phone. Price drop for the GS3? Sure, you can already get one practically free..

It's true. If you can't afford it at a certain price then don't buy it. But that's probably why they want to see it go down in price, because they can't afford higher price. Nothing wrong with that. Plus I saw an article that said s3 and note 2 aren't far off in costs to make. In the end the reason for price difference is the cell company trying to make more money cause phone is bigger. I guess it could cost them more but either way just look at the prices for the note 2, started at $299 for new customers, about 3 months and new customers were able to get it for $99 from Amazon.

He's not making up anything man. It IS called a phablet. Yes it's a phone too but it was designed as a tablet. I know the word phablet sounds really stupid but that's the chosen word I guess. How many phones out there have an SPen or have the features ours has? Think about it. Our device already does more than the gs4 ever will and once we get all the new software it will be even better.
Btw op watch the prices on Amazon.com. I got mine for $199 and I've seen it go as low as $169. It's different almost every day.

Well seeing for the last 2 weeks on Amazon it's been at $249 maybe it will hit $99 sometime around when the Note 5 comes out for the IDIOTS that want to wait that long! I'm happy for what I have at $199 thank you very much!

Saw this at work today and thought I would share it with everyone. I don't know how long it will last though. It says web only, but I called and they not only moved my upgrade up a couple months but they also matched the price!!!
If any of you have an upgrade or know someone who does, this is the chance. They only had white left when I called this afternoon.

Of course with a two year contract, it is AT&T after all It's still a great price if you have an upgrade though. Last week when I checked they were $199 with a 2 year....
I know I didn't hesitate to grab one today!
Now it's time to do some reading on rooting and roming so I can put this Infuse in the desk drawer

AT&T pushed it back up to $199.99 might have been an error on their part, you lucked out.

Yea, looks like AT&T made a mistake and fixed it last night. There was a really short time frame. That's why I posted the screen shot as well to show what I saw at the time I got it ordered. I was hoping to help a couple folks out and get the deal before AT&T caught it.....
Edit: Just checked my shipping status and will be at my house when I get home from work I am so excited right now.....

Wasn't a mistake. Att does has done this for the refurb note 2's twice already. Cheapest refurb it ever went was 99cents.
This deal started 2 days ago and was posted in slickdeals.net. Just so happened all the refurbs sold out already.

But it's good that you started this topic. Probably made some curious people into buying a note 2 for cheap. (Just like how I'm curious for the $130 HTC one at Costco)

If you're near Fairfax VA or Columbus Oh those two Microcenters are the first ones selling ATT phones. They have the S4 and One for $99 and Note 2 for $149. Bought my One there while I was visiting friends. (Then went on to trade my One straight up for 2 Note 2's )

I'm in Cali but thanks for the info. I'm going to try and call Costco and buy it at wholesale price instead of upgrading ($280- don't know if Costco sells without contract)

Nah....nothing like that....It's just my being sceptical of ATT at any point. Let alone the offering of a deal like this.

As far as I know, Costco will not sell without contract. That changed a few years back.
