Hi,
I was wondering how long it typically takes you guys to backup your devices? I just got my GSIII, rooted using no trip, and installed CWMR recovery. Takes about 5 minutes...was a lot faster on my Captivate Glide :|
Is this normal?
Also,
I noticed TWRP has factory reset and wipe data...which one should I use?
5 minutes is normal.

Do you have compression enabled?
Also, they are both the same, but factory also wipes cache with data.

This is normal. Your phone is not updating its building app cache or something.
Search is your friend.
Question is though... Why is it always rebuilding?
Is it still completely stock from Day 1 of purchase?
Have you rooted it? If so, what method?
Have you installed any apps?
Have you tried doing a factory reset? (Ensure you back up your data)
The phone is purelly stock
I havent done nothing except using it and installing apps...the regular as an every day phone...i got since sunday
Should I factory reset?
Thanks

And what do that means?
Does your GN does the same thing?
Thanks

Any way to back up that?

mine does it to. its normal
I can tell you its not normal for it to happen on every single boot! It's probably an app that is causing issues with the os. Try and remember what you recently installed and uninstall a couple apps to try and narrow it down. This happened to me when I installed Wallet.
mine has done it since i powered it on out of the box the very 1st time. so i'd say its normal
I wonder why its doing it then? If on my device it only does it when system files are being played with but on others on every boot?
Happens for me too, only noticed it since upgrading to 4.01 (stock)
title says it all.
It's always a good idea to do so. Your more than welcome to try it without, but make sure you have a nandroid handy
If the roms are similar enough, you can sometimes get away with it.

for this rom

I would just wipe everything anyway that way you know for a fact it won't go into bootloop or something

I am having a reoccurring problem. Sometimes, when I flash a new nightly, or even just reboot my phone, I get no data. Even when I turn on wifi, it connects but stays gray instead of turning blue or teal. Same thing for my 3G. I have full bars, but it stays gray. Best way I have been dealing with it if wiping cache and reloading the rom.
I have tried going in and out of airplane mode, rebooting the phone, letting it sit for hours. I would just like to know if I'm doing something wrong.
By the way I am running CM10.
All in all, it's a small price to pay to run such a slick rom. And now that I got dual boot all figured out......much easier to try things out.

Did you do a clean flash?
Did u use the sprint cm10?
Does this happen on tw ROMs?
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Emperor using psycommu
I wiped everything except for data.
On sprint cm10
Does not do it on a tw ROM I have
So this is what you did
Was on random tw ROM>wiped cache and dalvic> flashed cm10
If so your only hope really is to wipe everything and reflasb

I finally figured it out. The problem seemed to be with my clock settings. I can replicate the problem by setting my clock ahead and reboot. Then I will not connect. I figured out it was a Google account sign in issue. If I then reset my clock to the correct time and reboot, no problems.
Just had a question about dual boot. Was it easy to setup? How hard is it to go back to single boot? I would imagine having two roms would take up a ton of space.

I want to return to ics after trying a few jb leaks and have some issues I have a backup of my stock rooted 4.0.4 can I restore it or can I flash a custom ics over the jb rom I'm using now.
Sent From My Galaxy S3 Boricua 100%
You seem to have a few options. Only thing you really can't do is dirty flash ics over jb.
You can restore your nandroid and flash from there if you like. Or wipe data dalvik and cache and flash another rom.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
So I can use super wipe and then flash a ics rom over jb?
Sent From My Galaxy S3 Boricua 100%
I wouldn't even use superwipe. I only recommend tthat if you are having problems.
Just do factory reset from recovery, then flash your rom.

Ok thanks.the problem is I flshed xquizit xD I love the rom but when phone goes in to sleep it wont wake and starts vibrating with the blue led don't know why and I have asked for help in the op but didn't got help so I'm going back to ics.thanks for your help.
Sent From My Galaxy S3 Boricua 100%
No problem. Just a guess here but did you do a full wipe before flashing xquizit? That sounds like a oroblem that used to occur a lot when there was data left from a previous rom. Sometimes even had to wipe internal sd.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I did super wipe then did wipe factory/chace/dalvik wipe flashed rom then did factory wipe/cache wipe/dalvik wipe/fix permission and reboot with the same results rom is perfect but have the sleep/wake problem.
Sent From My Galaxy S3 Boricua 100%
I never had to run fix permissions on xquizit. And it has caused me problems in the past with other roms. Maybe that's the problem? Just a guess.

If you really want to stay on JB, give Black Jelly a go. No problems at all for me...been using it for a couple weeks now.

I will give it a try I don't want to give up on this rom not yet I really like the battery life and performance it's near perfect just having that issue and I noticed it happens when I hit the power button to turn off the screen it vibrates one time and when I hit power again it starts vibrating like crazy with blue led and black screen so I have to take out the battery and reboot.

How much storage do you have on your data partition?
You don't have to be out of space to get that message. Its set to do that once a certain percentage of your storage is remaining. Probably 5-10%. It does this to ensure there's enough space left for the already installed apps to use.
So you could have a few hundred mb remaining, but still be below that threshold.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I still got 5.59gb free.

You mean you fixed the issue you were having with xquizit earlier or this last one with the storage and installing apps? Or both?

Op. My biggest issues happens when I do not format "system". If you have a solid nandroid backup and you place a copy of the backup on your home computer you can recover from almost any mistake. Take the time to do the research. Happy to help with the basics.
I rooted and unlocked bootloader for my girlfriends galaxy note 2 (GT-N7105) and installed CleanRom. After a couple of months, she just started getting issues with her mobile data so I told her to just reboot. Now her phone won't turn. It just comes up with an empty battery with the loading sign. I rebooted into [Philz] recovery and wiped cache as well as format. Still nothing. I could easily reinstall stock with odin but I'm not near a computer for a couple of weeks so I was hoping for a quick solution. Every little helps

So even after restoring stock via odin I still can't boot up the device.
