Google now + asian accents = fail ? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Just wondering before i get my neus will google now work for malaysian or asians in general , as far as i know S voice and siri struggles to undersrand malaysian english ( judging it when i used my friends phone ) and i turns out more of a gimmick than a function , does this flaw comes to google now ?

I'm Malaysian and Google Now works perfectly fine for me

I am Vietnamese and Google Now understands my English as well...

I dont have any experience there, but my fiance is Colombian and Google Now does not pick up her voice well at all.

I am from India and Its perfect for me!
google now works perfectly ,can recognise my voice with no issues.. way better than siri.

I think its really depend on the way u pronounced it..

Some Malaysians have accent that make them mispronounce words, if you pronounce the word correctly, it should work.

Spot on, it's not the accent but pronunciations of the words.
Also many people don't realize they don't speak clearly or have speaking problems.

to OP, not to sound insensitive, but how is your incorrect pronunciation of words Google Now's fault?

Not to cause any disturbance here but I work with importation and some asians are EXTREMELY hard to understand, I have to tell them to write me an email... so pay attention to you accent and pronunciation while using Google Now!

Hey Buddy.
I am also from India and Until yesterday i was using galaxy s2 and i was able to use google now perfectly on that. Today i bought galasy s3. Now i am able to install google now without any problem and it is working too. however, the problem is changing the language. On S2, when i changed the language and tapped ENGLISH, it further gave me many options like English(US), English(UK), English(India) etc. Now on S3, it is stuck on English (US), and my accent is not recognized by English(US). Also when i change the language to some other, it does not come back to English even on selecting it. But my main problem is that only that i am not able to select English(India). Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Out of curiousity, has the bus stop card ever appeared for you? I use busses pretty often (bangalore, here.) and it's not shown up once :/

Not sure I am American living and Germany and Google now understands 50% of the time. Like I said wake me up at 6am well it understood bake shake sake lake but wake nope. Stupid **** I tell you. Voice recognition still blows major and i stick with typing it. Who needs siri or Google now? I wish it would work but nope. It sucks.

Don't know about the lingo one. I've got the Merriam webster one and I believe it's more than fine, especially since it comes with pron, so exactly what you want, I believe. In addition, you can add other dics and they all appear under each other. Really cool for any english learner/teacher.

Useful app... offline voicecommands

Hi,
I think there is a very useful app needed in all smartphone...and specially in the fantastic galaxy s2: the offline voicecommands.
People, like me, that have not the possibility to get always connected to the net, need the offline voicecommands like the mororola smartphones. We just need a porting of that app as the vivaldi 4season team did, but working for all the roms and in particular that app have to work...
Who is the dev that can do this for the "disconnected" community? He will help the people that need to call someone whilst is driving a car... No accidents trying to do a call whilst driving car, no money spent in a special contract to be always connected.
We need a hero!

Dont we have that already with the Built in Samsung Voice actions powered by Vlingo which also has a drive/car mode
Vlimgo requires Internet and to be honest is not greatest when dialing contacts especially if they are not typical English names.
Just do what I do as soon as I install rom, delete vlingo and put original android voicedialer.apk in system (note: not voice search) app from nexus s gingerbread or cyanogen rom. Works offline and much better for contacts recognition. Responds fine to bluetooth dial as well.

Could you post that apk please?
Here you go!
Remember put this in system/app folder with root explorer (do not install as regular apk) and remember to delete vlingo voice to go apk from there cause it will clash on bluetooth dial.
Istituto tris app multilanguage?
Is this only for dialing or sms too?
Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk
It's name is voice dialer! Ask me again if this is for dictating sms!
Or are you asking if you can start text message with this?
There's voice actions for that or vlingo or whatever but they all need to be connected to the net.
With this you can basically start any app installed on the phone with command open * (open MESSAGING or open OPERA MOBILE) or dial contacts on the PHONE or command redial.
You can not say 'send text to "contact name"'. If you want deeper than that then use online ones I mentioned.
Iono if it's multilanguage? I why don't you try it then tell us? What I do know is that I have plenty non English contacts and it dials them correctly even though it repeats them weird with English phonetics. It is able to learn as well so if it's confused between 2 contacts, manually selecting correct one, will not prompt again with same pronunciation. I have had few names that I had to gradually train like that going from English phonetics to native tongue pronunciation and now it's perfect.
I save data with titanium so don't have to train it again between flashing.

Calm down. If you insist, so i ask you again: is it for dictating sms?
A forum need people able to talk gently with others and if they can and want, to answer to the question, and not to be arrogant.
If you are nervous go to sleep.
So Dumb
So Dumb to not understand plain English.
Lol! Yeah all we need in forum are lazy people that post request in wrong section and won't do **** for themselves even when the help and explanation is being offered several times, but are easy to offend!
This was a waste of fingers. I'm off to sleep as you suggested and you wait for another soft spoken fellow or a gall.
But I'll throw you another bone. None of the solutions to date offer offline dictation on any smartphone platform and you ponder...

[Q] Jelly Bean Voice Search Woes ?

Hello,
does anyone have issues with the voice search not working as advertised on the keynote?
For example, asking "Who's is the Prime Minister of Japan" just returns a web search result and nothing else. No talking back.
It seems as though it's been disabled, can anyone confirm this?
Edit: Perhaps it's because I'm outside of the US? I'd love to hear back from users with Jellybean outside and inside the US.
Google Now/Search definitely talks back. I just tried that right now. Have you enabled all the features in keyboard/typing and search settings? Try a restart also after

I can but i m not very familiar with the file name if u do tell me i ll extract and give u
Alright so I can confirm. Once I went home I was able to get it to talk back and respond to some basic questions, such as "weather" and "who is prime minister of x".
Anyone have any other cool questions you asked that Google responds to? For example, currency conversion doesn't respond back to me, just shows me search.
Although I can never get the mapping questions to show up. "Map of gas stations near me", or "Map of closest 7 eleven"
Also, my Google Now shows no results.
Confirmed working over here in Australia. Pretty cool actually. Now excuse me I've got a bus full of iPhoneys to show off to!
I can't get it to talk, it just shows me some googlelinks here in germany :/

It's VoiceSearch.apk and GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
I'd appreciate it too.
when I change every language-setting to english it works.
Seems a bit hit or miss.
Ask who the prime minister of japan is and i get voice and images etc. Ask who it is for england and i get a google search.
Also, sending texts, settings alarms etc doesn't work

For England if you ask, "Who is the Prime Minister of UK" it works.
For SMS I say, "Send text to Dad I'm going to be late today" works for me.
For Alarm, I say, "Set and Alarm for 430 am tomorrow" also works.
Fun think to try, "What is the answer to life, the universe and everything" you get, "42"
Other things I've noticed:
"Where are all the petrol stations near me" works. Whereas, "where are all the gas stations near me" didn't. Then slowly, over time, as I used it more they started to work.
It seems like something is going on in the servers at ol google.

[Q] Galaxy Note II - Google Voise Search

Hey all, Since the purcahse of my Infnity Tab, I have been waiting to get an android "phone" to replace my old iphone 3gs. So grabbed the Note II yesterday ! Love it ! So far so good, with the exception of one small issue. S voice fine for what it is, but I watched many videos on Google Voice where it will actually "speak back" (a la Siri or "S" voice). I can not for the life of me get google search to speak an answer back to me.
I have check volume for "media" - I can hear S voice so I should be able to hear Google's voice
I have English (US) selected as language of choice.
I have voice response set to "Always"
What might I be missing. I have searched and watched a few videos, I am stumped.
Any tips/help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried generic questions like "what's the weather gonna be like today?" and if so, what happens when you ask these questions.

Where do you live? If you purchased your phone outside of the United States that's why it's not working.
I got my NOTE 2 in Canada and had the same problem. Refer to my post for the answer:

I'm kinda confuse here... You do know Google Voice and Google Now are two different products, right?
Google Voice: voice.google.com
Google Now: the voice recognition (assistant) feature introduced on JB, like Siri on steroids...
As for the question... Open Google Search, check on Settings\Voice\Speech Output
Peace!

But no matter what if you want Google NOW to to talkback you have to use the local/language app. Because for some reason none US phones don't allow you to change the phone language to English (US).
