ANY way to set a volume limit? (JB) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

My ear is still ringing... I'm honestly surprised that volume limits aren't baked right into every android ROM.
Please, please, please help me find a way to prevent anything from potentially damaging my ear drum while I have my earphones in.
Yeah... I've got a headache now. No fun. No fun at all.
Any and all tips are helpful, I guess...

Thanks asshole. I also would love the ability to change the top end volume. I use IEM a lot and having the volume at 1 is already a comfortable volume and by notch 4 or 5 it's already too loud. I would like to be able to set the mid volume level as my max and have more leeway in the middle for fine tuning. Any apps that can do this yet?

With that kind of attitude no one's going to help you. So how about you get some manners and come back? Thank you.

Really your revived this thread for that kind of childish response?
Really the volume down button works fine for me. If it doesn't for you then it's your problem not mine, no need to be acting like a big bad cyber bully.

I did find a solution that works, the app is "Fine Volume Control V2 (Trial)" - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=opotech.finevolumev2 It's a trial so you can see if it fixes your problem but it lets you set the volume much lower than android normally allows so it works well with very sensitive earbuds/IEM's.

Thread cleaned, edited and closed
Profanity and disrespect will be dealt with harshly as there is NO reason for it on a developers site.

headphones with play/fwd/rev replacements?

Are there any options to replace the stock headphones with something more comfortable? I'm looking for in-ear style headphones with the play/fwd/rev buttons. What are my options? All I can seem to find are ones with only a mic. I don't need that.
I just ordered the Jbuds J3m's. Lets see if they do the trick.
Let us know if they do. I am looking for some replacement too. Thanks in advance!
will do. Mine factory ones are falling apart on me. I noticed it today. Ill be very happy if these headphones work out!
the headphone came in. They're currently being broken in per the instructions. They sound pretty good. Only thing that I can say I don't like is that when I try to go back a track and try to click accordingly (3 rapid clicks) it skips forward and then pauses the next track. You must have to go pretty fast!!
Shipping was amazing!! I ordered them on the 6th and got them today (7/8)
If your willing to drop some decent cash you could go on eBay and order some klipsch s4's I just ordered em they're 55.00-60.00 and well worth it

how do the fwd and reverse functions work?
You talkin fast forward or skip? Skip you just click once and it goes to next song and ffw you hold the button but sometimes if you let go it'll skip

I use the "old" version of the Ultimate Ears 600vi (previously known as the UE super.fi 5 rev. B). I am thinking about replacing them with actual UE 600vi, since they add the skip/ffw/rev controls and a right-angle plug with actual strain relief.
I'm always so worried this plug will end up going dead in a channel...

My only complaint is that it is difficult to go to the previous track.
hi there. i used to have a g2 and i used the sony dr-ex14( it even has a volume button) using poweramp to change to prev and next track. but since i switch to mt4g slide it's a pain in the a*s. everytime i double click to the next track it redials. and it's so annoying. do any of you guys know how to turn this feature off on the phone. i wish i could just double and tripple click to switch song as my g3 used to do.
thanks in avance.

Yeah the microphone is pretty crappy, you have to hold it right by your mouth and stuck to your cheek otherwise it wont pick up anything but some muffled sound.
I took the phone apart, and removed the rubber grommet that goes on the microphone as well as expanded the microphone hole.
Microphone pick up has improved, but not great either, at least now I could hold the phone at a different angle or talk with a lower voice and people will be able to hear me.
Ill post some pictures later.

[Q] looking for quality wired headset with inline mic

Like the title says, I'm using this one right now:
http://www.amazon.com/Body-Glove-Pr..._1_5?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1327906766&sr=1-5
Everything works as it should, but the sound quality when listing to music sounds like a cheap 1.99 pair of headphones. I am an audiophile when it comes to sound quality especially with headphones, this particular pair is unbearable.
Can anyone recommend a pair for under $50 that has quality sound? I really like the convenience of the inline mic and the call button. It works well with Vlingo too.
I too would like confirmation on which headsets work for our phones. My previous phone (Epic 4G) would not work with several different headphones with mic. More specifically the buttons did not behave as you would want them to. For example: music controls, volume controls, voice control, etc. I have tried Bose headphones(AE2i and Quietcomfort 3) and earphones(MIE2i), Klipsch S4i, and several skullcandies. None of the inline buttons worked for the Epic 4G and I'm afraid these iDevice headphones will not work for my E4GT as well.
Instead of making a new thread, let me just ask here:
Is there anyway to hack/mod or phones to recognize the inline buttons? I'm not familiar with how an iDevice interprets these commands, so it may be completely out of the question, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Those do look nice though. The thing is, like the Body Glove ones they use words like "premium" and "high quality" and a big WTF/Facepalm when you actually get to use them. I don't want to get suckered again so I want to get some recommended ones.
Ya know, maybe of I could just find the cord with a mic and button with the 3.5mm jack I can put my own headphones on that would be a great option too, I'd need a confirmation that it works with our phones though.

Clicking sound when i tap the screen?

There is a clicking sound when i tap the left side of the screen (in the center). There seems to be nothing wrong with the screen. Seems to be in place. Is it normal?
It reminds me of the common problem that the nexus 7 has.

There's nothing we can do. All the gnex do this. Just some type of bug or quirk.
This is strange, I read about this hardware flaw in GNex only in this thread. I searched all over the Internet about it and found nothing.
Thought that maybe only my GNex have this flaw.
It's interesting how many Nexuses have this bug.
And maybe it's worth to mention it in some FAQ or something like that?..
The Gnex has allot of problems

I'm sorry but i dont understand what you are saying. If you believe from what i said that this is a software problem, well it is not ! This creaking sound i can hear is not some software bug, it's hardware .
I did find that if i press the creaky spot then it stops doing this sound for some time. Then it starts again ! Maybe it's a glue issue or something ?

I think it's definitely glue issue, looks like glass unglued from LCD/digitizer part. But I wonder, why does it produce this 'click' sound then?..
I also mentioned that sometimes it doesn't click. Later it start again. Maybe someone with this problem try the rice bag, maybe it helps somehow?
After a week of this clicking, I've nervously sold my Nexus. I will never buy anything from Samsung. It's build quality is just awful, and, as I see, with this rare bug it's also unpredictable.
Does samsung service accept this as a problem ? Did anyone try to send it to them ?
It must be just some of the GNex's my I9250 doesn't do that.

That program has one really useful function which automatically turns the external speaker on when moving the phone away from your ear, but saddly it doesn't actually increase volume levels.

Really! but in my Xperia S, when i used it, it actually increases the headphone/earphone volume quite a bit.
I'm using an ion. Good phone, except for the low earpiece volume. The external speaker is loud enough.
This review complains about in call volume levels, so I know it's not just me.
(1:25 into video)
Other than that, and hard to use hardware capacitive buttons, this is a good phone.
There's got to be some kind of a fix for this volume problem. (or maybe there isn't ?)
Somebody please help.

Your statement that in call volume can't be increased, is useful information to me, and as such justifies this thread being open.
Your the first to suggest that there isn't a solution.
(but I still think there has to be some kind of a fix)

I'm in agreement with this reviewer:
http://allthingsd.com/20120628/sony-xperia-ion-entertainment-filled-but-running-on-empty/
"I’ve been testing the Android smartphone for the past two weeks, and it offers some great features, such as a rich multimedia experience and zippy data speeds. The affordable price is also a plus, but it comes with some tradeoffs, including an older version of the Android operating system. But the smartphone has bigger issues — namely, poor battery life and low call volume — so it’s hard to recommend the Xperia Ion, even as a budget pick."

Am I gonna have to run out and buy the new S4 or HTC One ?
There has got to be a software fix for this problem. When people talk really loud I can hear well enough thru the internal speaker, so I know the phone amp and earpiece speaker are capable of good levels.
