[App REQ] Browse Android from PC - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Is there an APP that will allow my android devices (GS3 and Xoom specifically) to be visible from windows homegroup or network? So when I pull up my network on any given PC I would see my other PC's like I already do, plus see any android devices on the LAN? I know I can use ES File explorer and other APPs to see my PCs from within Android but I cant find anything that will work to see android from the PC side. I have seen some apps that start a server within your device and you have to navigate to a URL but I am looking for something that will just make the android devices visable to explore within network conections from a PC.
Thanks,

Sorry, answered my own question again...LOL.
Looks like SAMBA does what I need.
Thanks,

Android Commander is free.

Viewing Phone Screen on Pc

Hi Folks
Is it possible to view and control my phone on my pc?
thanks for any suggestions
It depends if your device is rooted. If it is then it's really easy using an app called 'Picme'. It's designed for allowing you to use your web-browser to screenshot your phone, but a (very good) side-effect of this is that you can control your phone by clicking and dragging your mouse in the browser as if it was your finger.
Otherwise the closest I've done is simulate Android on my computer, which isn't the same at all.
I tried webkey in market, it just working awesome!

With androidscreencast you can view your phone on the computer but not control it.
Try Lazydroid...you can access sms/calls/contacts from your pc browser via wifi...
In the name of Allah
I am using Remote Web Desktop.
This app have a addon that called 'Remote Control Add-on' , with this addon you can connect your phone remotly, like remote desktop on MS.Windows.
This addon use vnc server and you can connect to your phone with vnc client.

No vnc server at all
I think there is still no working free vnc-server for android as anyone who wrote sources for it

file manager for mac

Hello guys I need small help, what is the best file manager application for mac? o wanna transfer music videos and pics between GN and iMac
ta for helping
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
You don't need a file manager per se...
This is the app you use to connect your GN to an OSX machine to transfer files. Google created this for the specific reason of interfacing with android devices that use MTP and not UMS.
http://www.android.com/filetransfer/
You can also transfer over WiFi with an FTP setup. But this is easier.

Lol he doesn't need all that. If he just wants to move pics/music/vid/files back and forth, simple download from Google. Done.
And another thing on that post, I don't see how having to connect your phone via USB to sync with 'Mail', 'Address Book', iCal, iPhoto and iTunes is more seamless than simply letting everything backup wirelessly and automatically with Google services. You're making it harder on yourself by relying on your computers built-in apps. You don't buy an Android phone so that you can go back to the 2007 iPhone strategy and start plugging your phone into the computer every night to sync. That post is basically showing you how to step back from all the great things Android does.

[Q] Using Seagate Wireless Plus

I'm trying to improve performance with a Seagate Wireless Plus and Microsoft Surface RT. The Wireless Plus can stream video and audio through an app on iDevices and Android (where it works very well). There is no app for Windows RT but files can be displayed using Internet Explorer. Selecting a file starts sending the file to the Surface RT but Surface waits until the file is fully downloaded before it starts playing. I'm using the default, Xbox Video app.
Is there a better solution?
Is there some way to force the video to start playing while the file is downloading?
Is there an app hidden somewhere that will work with the Wireless Plus?
Thank you
Questions 2 and 3 are both flat no's.
Question 1 though, if you can access the files in a file browser (ie, not internet explorer) which if the device isnt a pile of junk you should be able to, then browse to them in the file browser and open them from there. Windows will stream them fine in this way.
Sadly looking at the user guide for the wireless plus, seagate have shot themselves in the foot before rubbing salt in their wounds. They haven't allowed the device to function as a standard network storage device like they should have (which would have massively broadened the number of devices it would work with and increased the flexibility in its usage) and won't allow you to view it in that way.
Alternately, you could just use the USB cable......
It should actually be possible to write an app to do this, but I'm not aware of one that works. If there's a Windows desktop app that does the trick, it might be possible to port it, or something else that speaks the same protocol, to (jailbroken) RT devices.

Thanks for the note.
Are you volunteering?
The Wireless Plus has a samba server so I can see and open files with File Explorer. I was hoping for something a bit easier for someone who is not so technically proficient (as in the wife).

big shortcut on the desktop, that usually works.
Although in my stepdads case I had to add a new shortcut to chrome, then go into properties and give it the internet explorer icon and put "INTERNET" as the shortcut text and leave it on the desktop in the very top left corner where he can find it. From there he was fine though. Just the chrome icon confused him somehow and since then he now seems to get the idea of different web browsers existing separately but the icon has stayed where it is. This is still the same person who also saves all of his files to the desktop and cant find them if they go anywhere else, such as his documents.....
Should cover the wife and if the samba server works properly you should simply be able to add a shortcut to it directly to whichever directory you need. I should think it should be fine like that.

I don't want to spoil anything, however I'm trying to understand where the advantages of your application are, when compared against other similar solutions?
eg. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid
The only difference I can notice is the fact that you can share between two android devices, but hell for that we already do have bluetooth?
