Well I tried almost all the CM mods for Gio and I have the same problem on all of them: ticking the always play ringtones on speaker does nothing. All the ringtones are played on headphones when they are plugged in and this makes CM unusable for me since I keep missing calls. Any way I can manually set this from terminal or patch it somehow?
The only one that works is phiezx new nightly but without the old libaudio patch. If I apply the patch the problem appears again.

So I've been browsing the forums trying to look for anyone with a similar issue but to no avail. Now I'm not sure if this issue pertains to CM9 but I've noticed that ever since I've flashed RC1 or a later nightly, every app that uses the microphone reverts the phone speaker to call speaker. This is highly irritating as I have to put my ear to the phone every time I want to hear say, music, notifications etc. I usually reset this by plugging in a pair of headphones and then taking it back out, however the problem still persists every time I use the mic. This does not happen during calls so that's fine.
I am quite certain that this isn't hardware related because it only happens after using the microphone through some app and resets itself using the headphone workaround or a reboot. Again, I don't know if this is a singled out issue or if it pertains to the phone or the latest CM9 ROM.
Any help would be appreciated.
So after updating to RC2 and then again to the latest Nightly (20120802) I still have no luck with my loud speaker and my call speaker. To test this I usually use the Tune Me app and mess around with it and record some things but after using the app, instead of playing through the loud speaker like its supposed to, it plays audio through the call speaker.
Also, when I previewed CM10 and was playing around with Google Now with voice the same thing occurred. I don't know if there's a conflicting issue with some apps I've installed or something that installing the ROM did but any form of support would be appreciated.
Thanks.
since i installed CM 10.2 starting with the 20130901 nightly build i have been experiencing interference between any audio player and the notificationos or system sounds. whenever i am listening music and a notification arrives, i get some sort of static on my headphones or my speaker. even when i use my headset buttons to chenge the track they make a beep. no matter if my device is in silent mode. i need help.
from d2att with cm10.2-20130908 build
About a month ago I screwed up my phone and had to LGNPST it for the first time. I'm not even sure if this is the moment this problem appeared but it may have been the start of something. Before that, I was running a JB CM build with a GPS lock issue that I never got around to fix and decided to fix it before I flashed a Kit Kat rom. That lead to a bad stock-based flash which then lead to the LGNPST fix. I then flashed to a different stock-based rom, updated PRL and obtained a GPS lock, then flashed a few different roms before settling on the offical CM 11 rom.
Somewhere after the LGNPST I ran into problems with the sound volume settings being completely ignored and this issue appears across multiple roms. I'll have the settings set to silent and it'll still play some odd sound whenever I receive an sms. When I try to change the sounds, nothing plays when I am previewing the sounds and if I select one the settings will crash. The ringtone files do exist in /media/audio/ringtones and they play correctly in Apollo. I have also downloaded Zedge and used it for setting the sounds inside the settings screen and it does not play the sound when previewing and crashes when I select a sound. Setting the ringtone inside of the actual Zedge application does work for the notification ringtone, but does not work with phone ringtone (it does appear to be changed in settings, but no sound is played during calls). Furthermore, when I attempt to set the sound in Hangouts for either SMS or regular hangout messages, it does not change from "Silent" but does not show any crash messages or anything.
In a possibly related note, every time I flash a new rom it will get stuck on activation until I just skip it. However, data services work completely fine. I have no problems with making calls, 3G/LTE, sending and receiving sms including pictures.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
After restoring to stock from LineageOS, my device has no notification sounds. All that is heard is a static 'tick' noise (like when turning certain speakers on or off). Phone call ringing and alarms still work

Try flashing arise. Even without turning Dolby or viper on, will fix the silent notification bug.
Hey, I have the same problem, seems to have something to do with the audiofocus.
I don't even get notification sounds when I plug in my headphones.
The ony way I get the sound is, when the speaker or the headphones are in use by some other audio application, like the music player.
If someone has an solution please reply, I am open to test those.
Thanks!
Sound is back
I want to report a succes, after trying to update my mzp via ota the sound came back and the weriedest thing is, that the update even failed.
After the reboot I heard a "pling" and couldnt believe it so i tryed it out and it works. (after playing around I sideloaded the ota and it still works)
I hope this information helps to find a fix or helps tracking down the bug.
If the above solution doesn't work
Flash this Arise zip through TWRP!
It will bring back sound notifications!
But still before that i advise to take a nandroid backup!
Here is the link to the zip file!

I have a strange error where my HTC 10 headphone jack doesn't work properly. My right ear becomes incredibly week almost cannot hear anything. At first I thought it was a hardware issue. Cleaned the port, restarted phone. Nothing worked.
I usually keep it on vibrate. However one day I was on call and I turned my ringer on. I had my head phones plugged in at the time. I received a text message and my notification played just fine through both ears of my headphones. I tried music and everything worked perfect. I thought my phone had magically fixed itself. However, the next day the same issue occurred. My ringer was off. So I turned my ringer on and called myself from google voice. To my surprise both ears now worked correctly again music works as well.
What could be causing this issue? It seems like when I turn my notifications off the headphone jack stops working properly and needs some sort of notification to come through.
I am using LEEDROID and Rooted.

I just tested your findings, no error here sorry to say.
I resolved this issue. This was do to the ex kernal app. For some reason after an update it was configured to -64db. The app was also touchy and was difficult to set to 0. Once I got it set to 0. I locked the settings. I've never touched those settings in ex kernal manager.
I had that issue when i was on leedroid AND only with ElementalX kernel. On CleanSlate kernel everything worked fine.
Something changes on boot /sys/kernel/sound_control/headphone_gain file.
That's why i set kernel adiutor (or ex kernel manager) to reset that file to 0 0 values, because locking settings at default in ex kernel manager gives me -64db on both channels in next boot.
Or just simply change kernel to CleanSlate it solves that problem immediately.
