I'm coming from the e4gt. We had a 4G toggle for that. Is it automatic now?

Maybe this:
Settings>More Settings>Mobile Networks>Network mode>LTE/CDMA OR Just Plain CDMA.

Default in this section should be CDMA. Switch it to LTE/CDMA and you're good :good:

Now if my area doesn't have it yet, will it consume more battery if I have lte/cdma on?

The phone will be searching for 4G when you have it on, so yes it will consume a little bit more battery if you do not have 4G in your area. You wont see a huge impact, but it will cause a little bit more of a drain than if you just left it off
Thank you all for your help. I appreciate it.

Are you pure stock or do you have root/custom recovery?
If you are stock there is no way to stop it but if you have custom recovery there was a mod created in the development section to stop it.
Link
im stock damn. I just got my s3 like 3 days ago, i was going to wait to root it but because of this reason imma root it to get rid of this damn thing!
In settings raise the bar for roaming like 100GB.

I hope the 4g isn't set up like it was on the thunderbolt, how it just automatically runs with no toggle switch.

Theres an option for CDMA only (no LTE) however leaving the CDMA/LTE option enabled has no truly noticeable effect on battery

Obviously there is because your phone certainly isn't connecting to wimax.
You can go to s4gru.com and check to see if there are live towers near you... though I think we can assume there are.

In addition to checking out s4gru.com as decke003 stated you can also visit http://www.sensorly.com/ and select Sprint - 4G and see if anyone else has saw LTE.
Texas is the most 4G'ed in the country I believe. I was getting 4G in a middle of nowhere in Texas. (truck driver)

Go to Settings > Mobile and networks > and make sure your network type is set to CDMA/LTE as opposed to just CDMA

LV still only has WiMax. No LTE there yet at least not officially, there may be a few spots active. Use the sensorly app from play store to see if theres any Sprint LTE in the area.

There is already a thread for LTE where and when. And no Vegas does not have LTE yet. There are maybe only a couple small spots in Vegas that once in awhile get LTE. My brother lives there and has no LTE.

I think they mean this:
From what I can tell, it appears every time you connect to a new WiFi network. If you have sleep mode enabled (which means it turns off data and WiFi after not using your phone for awhile), then you'll see this notification multiple times a day.
ah. yeah I get that too
Why is Adblock Plus using so much data? I'm pretty sure it isn't actually using 30GB of data, I could be wrong. But why is it reporting that much data used?

Looks like it was running amok. Have you tried force stopping it and then reloading? Hope you have an unlimited plan or that is going to hurt. Have you verified the data usage by using the dial code to see what the provider says you have used?
