We get unlocked bootloaders. Exactly...
Tmobile Galaxy S3.
Besides I'm totally happy with my 20mbps speeds and $40 cheaper than yours. Spending $40 more just to get 16mbps more isdoesn't make sense, does it.
And it gives me more extra $$$ to focus on other more important things in life than your ridiculous "36mbps"
And F**K Verizon....they'll do anything to get more $$$ out of your pockets. Like locking your bootloader just so you can spend more money to get the Unlocked version.
Signed it!
Or before anyone on Verizon bought the phone, they should have known of the locked bootloader... If it's THAT big a deal, you shouldn't have bought it...

get yo' free WiFi calling without calling into C/S! Does not work with older plans, if you do not see it at my.t-mobile.com you need to get a grandfathered feature added. I have the Even More 3000 Families plan.
works great with the new KL1 update. WiFi calls also have much better voice quality.
Go into my.t-mobile.com, under manage go to change services and you should see the WiFi calling option under extra minutes.
When I bought mine this weekend, they gave me unlimited WiFi-calling for free with my plan. I was a new customer as well. Got the 500 minute Value plan with 5GB of data.

I'm glad they are advertising it. Unlimited WiFi calling minutes is a great deal for us and T-Mobile (offloads the local towers, we get free minutes)
Didn't advertize it. I went in not expecting to get it and the sales person was like "So I added free unlimited wifi calling..." and I was like score, and then double score today when I saw the OTA update was being distributed. My bedroom is in the basement of my house, so this is a great feature for me. Verizon would drop my calls, or just make me completely impossible to understand to the other end of the line all the time.
T-Mobile has been the best in-store experience I've had so far between it, Sprint and Verizon.
Bought my phones a month ago and I couldn't add it online. I ended up chatting with a CS representative and they added it.
Now the wait for the ROMs begins. C'mon JUGGERNAUT!
Unfortunately, doesn't seem to be available on the Wal-mart prepaid plan.

I don't see it either and I made a recent change to my plan. But then I'm on a family plan so I don't know if that matters and I'm the main account holder. I guess I'll give T-mobile a call cuz all 3 of my lines have wifi-calling.
ATT is screwing me by refusing to carry forward my unlimited data plan to LTE and has repeatedly tried to force me onto a capped plan.
I saw a newspaper ad today (archaic - I know!) saying T-Mo has an unlimited everything plan for this phone for $90 and it's tempting. I'm hoping to sell or swap my existing GS3.
Is there anything I should be aware of?
Also, what is T-mo's take on this plan if I try to tether?
Thanks.
I'm pretty sure you can just swap sims? Tethering has been beaten to death on these forums. I'd take a few minutes to search and ask your questions in those threads if they haven't been covered yet.

I think I already made it clear I anticipated getting a new S3. I know that they aren't fully compatible for 3/4G/LTE.
Re: Tethering. I though this was a new plan - it appears to be as much in the advert.
They block tethering on unlimited data plans but rooted tethering might work. I haven't tried it yet.

They are trying to kill teather with updates. I tried T-Mobile with still having my main line on att. Speeds were either really fast or dead slow. I'd rather just stick with att because it's decently fast wherever I go.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I just recently re-upped with T-Mobile. They have two types of plans out right now. They have what they call the classic plan and I can't remember what their new plans are called.
Anyway, with the classic plan you get the phone subsidized, but the plan itself is pretty expensive. On the other hand if you get their newer plan, you pay full price for the phone, but the plan itself is dirt cheap (cheapest I can find among the major carriers). While $600 for a phone might seem like a lot, they only require a $200 down payment and since you're starting a new contract you'll probably get $100 or so knocked off. The rest of the price of the phone is spread throughout the first 20 months of your contract.
Applying a little basic finance and assuming you have a decent stock portfolio, I estimated my cost of my Galaxy S3 at around $350 and my monthly fees went down from $230-250 to its current $140-150.
Don't know much about T-Mobile signal in your area, but if you can manage a consistent 3G I'd say it's worth the cost savings.
I would tell you that you will be very happy with t-mobile vs att, I did the switch my self and I couldn't be any happier, my data is very fast and yes it is faster than att and I get 4g 95% of the time in my area, my brother still have att with the s3 and my phone is way faster than his, on a speed test mine gets between 17000-22000 kbs consent vs his the highest he gets is about 5000-8000

So did they ever open any sort of lawsuits against sprint for pulling back on WiMax? I really dislike how I've bought 4G WiMax devices, only to never receive WiMax in my area (just outside Detroit). Was it in our contract? Weren't they expected to eventually give it to us since we were paying for it?

I haven't heard of any lawsuits. I'm sure somewhere in the fine print it states 4g wimax will only be available in certain areas.
It states right on the contract and all ads and 4g device packaging its only available in select markets. The $10 fee applies to all smartphones not just 4g capable devices and is a premium data fee, it keeps data unlimited even tho these devices can eat thru a ton of data in a month. I've never had 4g unless I travel and I don't complain since I use over 100gb a month between my 5 lines. You could go to Verizon and pay alot more than $10 extra for capped data. A single line with 10gb data on vzw is $140+ taxes and ends up around $175-180 a month

Also sprint never pulled back on wimax. The problem Clearwire ran out of money to expand the wimax footprint.

+1. They get around it by calling it a data plan. My wife's first smartphone did not have that fee because they were not offering 4g in our area and they were getting ready to be sued.

ahh the memories, you are correct.....the first phone to have the $10 added was the evo4g no other phone had the fee....then the epic4g got the fee...it was a 4g fee still no other phone had that fee but could web the same sites as the 4g phone......then sprint was going to get sued cause people were paying for 4g and not getting the service. Then they called it "premium data fee", since most windows/androids could access the same www sites that the 4g phone did and that is how they got around that no matter if you have a 3g/4g or LTE phone.
Sprint will always deny the truth that the 10 fee started first as a 4g fee.

P.S. Would it be fair to buy only to pay +$200 ETF after month1 & go T-Mobile $30/mo prepaid plan as some have suggested?
I think the etf route would be better if you dont have to deal with rebates.

Does this mean I could get the phone for $200 after rebate and then pay the $200 ETF and get the phone for only $400? Sounds too good to be true, what am I missing?

Are you sure about that? ETFs are generally there to compensate the carrier for the device's subsidy/financing that the contract would have provided hence why ETF have been moving up to $350 on other carriers & why paying for the device in full without that subsidy/financing would not involve contracts on T-Mobile or AT&T..?
In any case it's not exactly fair to screw T-Mobile if they are the last major carrier to raise their ETFs trying to keep up with the rising price of many smartphones..
Still would prefer that the T-Mobile full price comes back down to $650 like AT&T currently is & how T-Mobile originally priced the Note2.

Lately I have been experiencing poor service with simple mobile. In addition to that, they used to have an unlimited flat rate plan, now they add tax. And also they throttle you to edge speeds after 3gigs of data use. After they throttle me, when I reup for the next month it is like a **** show trying to get 4g speeds back. Their CS sucks and they blame it on my phone or sim card all the time. Im officially done.
1) Is there a better mvno out there?
2) Right now i got simple mobiles $50/month plan unlimited everything until after 3gigs of data, then edge speeds and with tax now its $55 and change. Im considering metro pcs $60 flat rate plan unlimited everything for $5 more. Anyone have experience with Metro PCS?
3) Metro pcs offers 4g "lte" speeds, is our phones capable of 4g "lte"? I think simple mobile uses "hspa+" which is supposedly equivalent, doubt it.
Thanks guys for the help.
Don't know about mvno's, but the T999 is not capable of LTE. You'd need the T999L, or if going with Metro, the T999N.
Metro is a good one if you don't want or can't unlock your device. Speeds are as good as T-Mobile with all taxes and fees included and its a flat rate if you pay online, and at store its only $3 payment fee.. As doc said T999 doesn't support LTE, only T999L and T999N..
So both the t999l and t999n are lte capable, but the t999l will not get lte with metro? What service for t999l then?
The two are identical in terms of hardware. Just one has T-Mobile firmware and the ither has metro firmware.

Wow that sounds good! Is it 4g speed data...through the whole 5gigs?
Update: Actually I just read their $45 plan, it says unlimited data and after 3gigs, speed is throttled for remainder of month. It is still $10 cheaper though than simple mobile. Might check it out, thanks.
Yeah I tried Simple Mobile once, they are ridiculous. You go over your data and they pretty much shut your data off and you can't even pay more to get more data. I use straight talk t-mobile on my t999l and love it. Get 3 gigs of 4g lte and after they throttle to 3g I belIeve, I didn't even have to unlock my phone just dropped in the SIM and set the apn and was working. For 45 a month I would recommend to anyone.

when I started it was 3GB but they upped it to 5GB after a month. this is the AT&T plan, maybe TMO is different.
It's not LTE, it's HSPA+ but quite fast here in Maine.
As to unlocking, I just called TMO and they emailed me the code. I owned the phone free and clear.
I get LTE here in Las Vegas on the T-mobile Straight Talk.
