Hey Guys,
is there a way to save RAM ?
I'm using this Rom & I have only 79Mb free of RAM.
I tried zeppelinrox V6 SuperCharger
But it doesn't work.
so does anybody know an other way ?
Hmm and a question,is tehre a way to disable Sense 3.0 Task-manager ? cause maybe V6 SuperCharger doesn't work,cause of task-manager(maybe he kills it)

no need to think about the ram handling. when its going to be full (mean few MB), android will free some ram
One thing you should know about Android is that it takes care of itself when it comes to freeing RAM and all that. Using task killers and RAM optimizers can do more harm than be helpful. I wouldn't worry about not having much RAM available since Android frees RAM for you when it gets a little low. Maybe check for apps running in the background.
Two excellent guides which support meaples opinion:

I never looked about Ram,but with this rom i have only 70MB free and sometimes the rom feels very slow. And a friend of mine had the same problem and he used this script and it works very well for him,so I thought I could trie this ,too
Hi I'm rooted and have an unlocked bootloader (CM9 RC2 with included FXP kernel). Now I'm wondering if there's any other tweaks I can do, I've heard some people talk about superchargeV6? and SmartassV2? They're suppose to improve RAM from what I understand? When I was on android 2.3.3 games and emulators ran pretty smooth, on CM9 (ICS) they're not too bad but I've noticed a bit more lag from time to time. I'm wondering if one of those RAM enhancers would help in my case. Also, are they safe? I haven't overclocked my CPU because I heard it decreases the over all lifespan of your device. I currently have 306MB of free memory on my phones internal memory ( I still have a few apps to move over btw ) and my RAM is at 177MB free. IDK if there's anything I can do to boost internal memory but surely the RAM can be improved correct? And lastly are there any files or folders on my phones internal memory I don't need? I've noticed a slight change when using Androzip (file manager) on 2.3.3 it went from "/" to "/sdcard". Now it goes from "/" to "/mnt" to "/mnt/sdcard" why is this? Is this ok?? Just some small change I noticed ( perhaps this happened when my bootloader got unlocked? ) If someone could answer these questions and guide me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

V6Supercharger is a script-based application that changes some settings in your phone, some of which tell Android how to pick which apps stay running and when to kill other services. Very useful and has just been updated to work better with Jellybean, if that's of any interest to anyone (other than me, that is).
smartassV2 is a cpu governor, and depending on which kernel you're using (FXP, Mjolnir, LuPuS), you may or may not have this option. smartassv2 is just one of the many options available, but the cpu governor doesn't affect your ram at all, it just affects how quickly or slowly your cpu will speed up and slow down, and when it decides that it needs to change speed.
As far as overclocking, yes, if you keep your phone clocked too high, it could damage your phone. However, given the lifespan of current phones (with newer, better ones released every few months), it's not likely that you'll cause drastic, irreparable damage to your phone should you overclock to, say, 1.1 or 1.2GHz. You could even use an app like SetCPU where the max speed can be changed based on what app is running, what time of day, certain activities you do, etc. Overclocking is just like anything else: All good things in moderation.

The V6 Supercharger script just tries to use RAM more efficiently. It loads more things into RAM and prioritizes processes such as the launcher above less important processes. Most people experience more fluidity in the UI, mostly when switching tasks or returning to the home screen. Some people claim it helps gaming, though I've not experienced that. I suppose the more apps you have running, the more noticeable the effects will be

(Moderator, i posted this here because this it's a solution about the lack of RAM on Defy running CM10)
Hello people!
We are all excited about the Defy with CM10 Jelly Bean
But there is one thing that many users are complaining like a grumpy old man
It's about using too much RAM in Android 4.1.1 on Defy
Well, first I want to say one thing:
WAKE UP PEOPLE! IT'S ANDROID OS, NOT WINDOWS! :good:
And now comes the old explanation about RAM on Android:
- The Android OS is based on Linux, as everyone knows. The system features a smart task manager that handles all apps minimized to the re-start of apps more faster.
When the system needs more RAM to run any app, it kills unused apps to free up more RAM. And it will be that way forever, because that's how it works with the linux memory management.
End of this beautiful love story.
[Q] - So my friend Salo-S, why my Defy uses so much RAM in JB?
- I just finished explaining right now. But however, I have not seen any lack of free RAM on my Defy+, is always at 185 ~ 230 free (open with some apps, like Google Now or WALKMAN player of Xperia S).
[Q] - And then? what you have to do with that?
Simple. Check what apps are consuming as much memory as you describe.
Probably you installed an app that consumes a lot of RAM.
Solution: Full-Wipe IT. Reinstall the CM10 and now pay attention to their apps.
[Q] - Oh Salo-S, my phone keeps in low memory like 100 ~ 85 free.
Ok, then do yourself a LITE version of JB!:cyclops:
How? I explain.
My wife has a XPERIA X8 which has only 185 RAM running good the CM9.
Witchcraft? No, it's just removing unnecessary content as LiveWallpapers, Dev Apps, Google Apps and some many other apps that do not affect the functioning of the system.( Something like a LITE version of ICS )
185MB of RAM the phone has, ICS runs well with only 40 ~ 50 MB free.
I do not think this is useful in Defy with JB, but try!
This is the solution if your Defy loves sushi of RAM memory.
The Android system has a great management of RAM, I think all this unnecessary.
It is the explanation and tips for users with RAM problems, I think this will help ..
Right now friends, we can stop asking about the SWAP on Defy (we have locked bootloader) and stop talking about low RAM. This all explained now.
Thanks to Quarx and Epsylon3 to make JB possible and good on our Defy's!
Thanks ,
nice explanation !!
but still this thread is more worthy of general section

thought so....
It might sound rude to fans of Task-Killer apps and V6 Supercharger (it works, but not for everyone),
but Salo-S is right. Even with task killing, it only temporarily frees up the RAM, but if you have a lot
of apps installed, the RAM will fill up again in a few minutes.
So the best way to free up ram on a low-RAM device like Defy and Defy+, is to limit the number of
memory-hungry apps in your phone.

you can install as many apps as you want, you just need to avoid that they start automatically. i use this app and it really helps to control when which app starts.
hope this will help you guys
@salo-s
basically you were right. but have you ever read some posts in quarx' cm10 thread?? it is a fact that our defy runs very slow with cm10 and 50-70 MB free RAM (or less). This happens when you flash full gapps and some favorite apps. if you flash minimal gapps (and also some favorite apps) free RAM is about 120-150 MB and the rom is very smooth and responsible.
some useres think it's a cache problem. more free ram = more cache = smoother system.

That doesn't matter.

Very good explanation on the way Android Memory Management works.
To extend on it, people you can use AutoKiller Memory Optimizer app from Play Store. Using this App you can increase the Minimum amount of RAM to be free. Basically, this app is not a task killer but is just an extension of the natural Memory Management system in Android as it helps you customize the Amount of minimum RAM to be free and change the value of RAM to be consumed by the Non-Active Apps etc.
I have been using it for months now (on Stock Froyo, CM7, CM9) and it has been working it's magic ever since.
Hello to everyone, i have installed a custom rom for my Xperia Play with Locked Bootloader, the Custom Rom is NXT 1.3 and its performance in games was excellent newly installed, but when i started to install my apps or restore my apps the performance felt. So i thought that was ocurred cause was filling up the internal memory, so I put most of the applications on the SD card and some go to the ROM, but the performance doesn't improve as well, i read and a i have try different things like install Ram Manager Pro to free more RAM in games, to Use Task killer for Tasks in Ejecution and i dont see an considerable change in its performance. So Can i do for play more smooth?
The another thing is the NXT 1.3 have Busybox and support for scripts Init.d but i try to use an option for swap but maybe my stock kernel dont support it and another option for max size aplication's data in Ram Manager Pro ask me for busybox as if i didnt installed it, and i don't know why.
Thank yo

A Question
But if i have locked bootloader and by that stock kernel i cant to overclock cause i cant change kernel. is there another option for improve the game experience with the NXT 1.3 Rom or another???
I know this might not help but could you tell me how good heavy 3d gaming was when you first installed the ROM. Did you play games like GTA:VC/GTA 3/Modern Combat 3/4 / Batman Dark Knight Rises etc without NO LAG or with minimal lag? Im on dixperia 2 and out of the 3 ROMs ive been on, its provided me with the good performance although it does slightly lag when doing heavy 3d gaming...
Nxt Light 1.3
I was experiencing the same issue. I am using the light version of the custom ROM, and it was blazing fast upon installation. Now that all of my games are installed, it is slightly slower than it was before, not very noticable though. If it helps, before playing a game, I use Es Task Manager to clear up about 200mb of memory so more is available for the games. My bootloader is locked as well. I wish there was a stable ICS on the Xperia Play. The ICS user interface, in my opinion, is much smoother than gingerbread.
Well i played games as Nova 3, Modern Combat 3, Pes 2012, Fifa 12, Asphalt 7 and i felt the rom really smooth but later when i had all my apps restored and time after working with the rom, definitely the was slower than rom newsly installed, now i have lag in all games :S. I have Advance task killer installed and when i'm going to play i free memory with the task killer, i used chainfire with Qualcomm and i free cache memory, but i never have 200 Mb free only when i reboot. Cause the services are restarted and the Ram memory is fill up really fast and i dont know why and what i can do :S
Dont use any task killer!!! This has been discuss throughout XDA in any android dev. All custom rom hav init.d support & they hav thier own set of minfrees'. Using task killer/manager will conflict with all the roms' tweak. Capish!!!

Sdojoin

Many task managers are there just to run ads, they can eat up your battery, the programs will try to load in the free ram, it will kill it and over and over.
Install LBE (in my signature), it have the feature to prevent user and system programs from autostarting, although there might be other lighter apps that does this. Leave the ram management to android, just clear the ram before you launch a game.
You could try and watch what programs use up the most ram and see if you can replace it worth lighter apps. Launchers and widgets tends to, especially weather ones. I use holo launcher with light widgets only.

Dont do anything. Just use it as is. If it gets laggy, reboot, wipe cache/dalvik-cache. Solve. Custom rom hav init.d support. That alone is enough to giv u the perf u need. Any other ram management app will only eat ur intrnal mem & ram at the same time. Just find some init.d & build.prop tweak all over XDA. Its impossible to "NOT" find any. Cheerio.

I am currently on Xperia Nexus v3 and Trinity Kernel, and this gives me about 300MB free ram from the beginning. And I have used Greenify to help my low ram situation. However, Becuase I am running a lot of services in the background that I need, 300MB of ram is not enough for me and my phone lags like hell and always causing home launcher redraws etc.
So anyone can tell me how I can solve the problem? I heard AOSP ROMs gives more RAM, but then I won't be have cybershot mod along with AOSP, and camera is a big thing for me too.
Thanks guys for helping!!
In Linux, free RAM = wasted RAM
For "more RAM" it should mean "more usable RAM"
If Greenify really can't help you (it helps me a lot!), maybe you should uninstall some apps.
Ur lag isn't ram problem

Once I launch something like Brower, it closes my archives like LMT, call recorder etc, so free ram is not wasted ram in my case
And even I lock the launcher or even put in system, it stills redraw.
And I am already using custom Rom and kernels, and I believed it's already supercharged

I guess eventually I will have to go with PAC, just that I wish there is other solutions so I can keep my cybershot.

There are a lot of ways the combat this issue. You can try simple fixes i.e uninstalling apps or closing background processes or the slightly more advanced stuff like the v6 supercharger script, u can also go to development options and limit background processes or choose the option to close app/process as soon as user leaves (forgot the actual title, but yeah u get the idea!)

v6 supercharger script only works in ICS, at least that's what is says on the page of the one who made it, if that script works in JB the one who made it should update his page from time to time.
