Just bought a Nexus... now what? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I just bought the gsm nexus and I will be hooking it up to straight talk's att mnvo. Any recommendations on:
1. Accesories
2. Roms
3. Mods
4. How I can assist this community
I am excited to finally get here and I have a couple of years experience with android but I have only done small mods to gps as far as any dev experience goes which I know really doesn't count nowadays.

1. 2000mah battery/case
2. cm10/aokp
3. inductive charging mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470694
4. read the faq's before attempting #2

Cruzerlite cases are sweet. Avoid getting an extended battery unless you spring for the good brands like seido or mugen. Get yourself the toolkit from development section and do some reading before getting started. Welcome!

Lol at #4... What you don't want endless Q/A threads about how I soft bricked my device?
I'm glad I can find some peace over here. Verizon is charging me too much and HTC is tanking unless it figures something out soon.

I got a $20 Hyperion 3800 battery w/back for $20 off Amazon. Followed the conditioning instructions and get almost 2 days of moderate use. NFC also works.

Anker Battery

Emailed the Anker company about if they had the Anker t989 battery. This is what I got as a reply:
"Dear <email address removed per policy>.,
Thank you for
contacting us.
Sorry that we do not have batteries for t989/skyrocket
variant currently. They should be coming soon!

Any idea if their version will have the NFC antenna?
nope they didnt say
Staff named Apple in Anker. Interesting!
Anyway they are honest reps.
Awesome. I had their Anker batter for my Sensation and I really loved it. I have been keeping an eye out for since I switched to this.
I am coming from the myTouch 4G Slide. I have the 2 Anker Battery pack with the charger (Would link here to amazon but still havent posted 8 times - Just search Amazon for "Anker 2 mytouch 4g slide" and it should be the 1st one)
Can anyone confirm if this Anker "Universal Charger" will work OK recharging the Samsung OEM batteries for the SG2? I need to invest in a 2nd battery and since Anker is late to the party here I wanted to be sure I won't ruin the OEM batt if I use this universal charger.

Most likely won't charge the Sammy battery.

Just checked on Amazon by keyword searching, and happened to find actually Anker already have t989 battery for sale.
Here is the buying link:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006BHTA8Y
BTW, it seems batteries of this brand are gaining much popularity.
I'm confused...why is this better than the stock battery? It appears to be rated for less juice and it doesn't have NFC.

usually it has more than stock, and the battery time is about equivalent to stock for about 1/3 of the price, that's probably why people like it.

Cases for 3800Mah+ extended batteries?

I'm awaiting my new galaxy nexus gsm in the mail.
I'd appreciate some insight anyone would like to share with me for a few questions please...
1) is the mugen huge double battery pack worth it? The giant one that comes with a new door?
2) are there any cases that will fit that huge extended battery?
3) I've read conflicting reports about the otter box fitting both Verizon and gsm versions. Can anyone give me first had experience?
Thank you

1) EVIL JIMMY has a very in depth thread on this very sub forum that will allow you to make your own educated decision (I just responded after it had been buried since Feb 20th, so check it out).
2) LTE ONLY, but there's a chance Seidio will make a GSM version as well, since they also make a GSM extended battery.
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus-surface-extended-case-black-p/csr2ssgnlx2-bk.htm
Keep an eye out, or just shoot them an email - they have pretty good customer service.
3) I had the otterbox that Verizon sells.. wasn't a fan. If you're skipping the extended battery, Diztronic has a phenomenal case. http://amzn.com/B0065PGWQ0

Where the cheapest place to find OEM batteries? Genuine
Sent from my Unnamed 2.0.1 EL29 powered Galaxy S2 brought to you by Sprint
Probably eBay. Not sure if this is the cheapest, but I found one for you http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SAMSUNG...Accessories&hash=item41650839da#ht_500wt_1156
$18.95 and from the US.
Trustworthy to be genuine?

Read the feedback and decide for yourself. If you are worried about a fake battery then spend a few extra bucks and buy retail.

I think so, I mean 25 were sold and feedback seems good (100%).
Positive feedback usually occurs right after the product is purchased. For products like batteries if you are looking for oem quality, you are best going paying retail at a reliable store. There are to many fakes out there if you are trying to find a real oem quality battery. Most that I have found and tried have been sub par. If you are looking for some extra power as a back up, go ahead and take the risk if you see something interesting. If you need the reliability, spend the extra at the store.
Even expensive 3rd party like Mugen and Sedieo fall way short of their ratings when tested. Google it. I would post a link, but am not allowed to do so yet.
You are gambling unless you go to a store. That is if you absolutely want a real 1800mah battery. There are too many fakes and creating a battery that looks oem is too cheap and easy.

Are there any nfc equipped batteries and even more importantly would our phone be capable to use that technology? I'm not really sure how that works and anyone who can enlighten me, much thanks.

It won't work. SPH-D710 doesn't support NFC.

Will the GSIII battery fit our phone?

Title says it all. I did an advanced search through XDA and also did one in the GSIII talk thread and couldn't find a definite answer. I'm looking for a bigger battery without increasing the size of my E4GT. I found one on eBay but is there any others that are cheaper?

It was really nice of you to answer his question. I don't understand how this question makes him a noob at all? He's simply curious. To the op; I'm not 100% sure but I do not think it will fit. You could do a search for extended batteries specifically the slim ones. And you could always buy another stock battery plus charger and carry that around with you and just switch them out.

i dont think it will. it looks like the dimensions are different.
Thank you for the responses.Yeah, I was looking through some of the slim extended battery threads and they were saying that they weren't getting that much better battery life (andida). It would just be nice to get a bigger OEM battery.

Non OEM 2100mah battery with nfc

I'm looking for a reasonably priced non OEM battery that is equivalent to the OEM extended battery (2100mah) and it MUST have NFC. I don't want anything where I have to change the OEM extended battery door. Can anyone recommend one?

My choices on ebay are the OEM 2100 which are not really much cheaper than what verizon is running it on sale now or 3100 non-OEM one's that have NFC, but I don't want 3100.
I'm not familiar with the process for "buying" through the forum. Can you enlighten me. I'd be willing to do that if it was a good price. I guess I was just trying to see if anyone had stumbled on one and has experience with it. I'd like to spend $13 or so.

Well... buying on the forum... i guess it's all trust. Go to the appropriate thread and find someone who said they have an extra (there are a few over at the thread about the Sprint 2100 offer). This usually has to do with Paypal, but just PM the guy/gal and see what you can arrange with them.
BTW, are you located in the US or elsewhere?
