So, I get a phone call, and I swipe to answer, but I get an automated voice that says, 'Call from (caller) ... if you'd like to answer, press 1'. Now, while I don't mind the screening, is there a way to disable that? I find myself missing calls because of it.

Thats not the normal behavior for stock Sprint dialers. Are you running the stock ROM? Are you using google voice?
You have call screening turned on in Google Voice. You need to change the settings on the google voice site.
I've found it. It's a G-Voice issue.

Hi Guys.
Not sure if this is the right section to post under, so apology in advance if its wrong.
I was wondering if i could make my verizon number a google voice number. Like, release the number from verizon and get google to put it under my google voice account. That would mean that all my current contacts would become google voice contacts. The main advantage for me of this, is that i'd get missed call alerts even when i am in an area without cell phgone reception (ie work) through wifi.
Any advice appreciated.
if you use wifi from your work you shouldn't be missing any calls. If you are you should return the phone....

You can assign your Verizon number as the one that google voice forwards the call to; but dont think you can re-assign your VZW number to google voice.
Also, you can set your vzw number to forward to Google voice for voicemail. Then, whenever someone calls and gets to your voicemail.. you should receive the missed call notification.
When you're phone doesn't have signal, the call should go to Google voicemail immediately and count as a missed call.

The note 2 is my first android phone, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question. I cannot find a my voicemail. I have to call my voicemail to get my messages, and I do not receive any notifications when I do have a voicemail. I do not have a icon for the voicemail either. Thank you for the input

I use google voice for voicemail... allows me to see/retreive vmail from any internet device, not just phone, and also to use same vmail for multiple phones. Alternatively, your carrier may offer visual voicemail (for a fee)

press and hold 1 for voice mail. Or when you go to the dialer, you'll see a recorder looking icon below the star key. That's voicemail. But I agree, you should get google voice. www.google.com/voice
Google Voice user here as well and love it.
I can't an alternative to Google voice so I use it.
I'm on root box using Google voice for voicemail. Every time I receive a call I have to answer the call then press 1 on the number pad to actually answer the call. I don't know whether this is a function of the dialer or Google voice but is there anyway to bypass this feature?

go to google voice website and disable call forwarding... while your there might want to adjust all the settings to your liking i hate google voice for that reason you cant just plug and play you have to set it up and god forbid if you want to stop using it you have to go back to the website and turn it off... thats why i always use the sprint voicemail and blacklist 9016
I have Google Voice set to make calls. The settings are
Making Calls
Ask every time I make a call.
When I make a call, instead of getting a pop-up asking me if I want to use Voice to make the call, the call is started and I can hear the call ringing, but under the dialer screen, is the Voice pop-up.
If I immediately hang up the call, then switch to the Voice pop-up, I can make the call with Voice.
That isn't how it should work. When you make the call, the pop-up should appear but no call should happen until you select use voice or phone. That is the way it works on a S3 with 4.4.2.
Any suggestions?
- Steve

I can get it to work it just isn't clean.
What is not working for you?
Same here no matter if I choose Google voice to dial and always ask, it always call from my cell carrier not thru my Google voice number.
On the 2.18 update, google hangouts dialer doesn't work. It dials 0 instead of 1 so it redirects to a different country.

Very good for me. Bad for you
I checked mine. That has same issue. It only dial from network carrier not from GV
When I get calls and answer them,it asks me if I'd like to receive this call. It then asks to press 1 if I want to talk. How do I get rid of that ?
EDITED:
I figured it out,it was google voice screening. I just turned off the screening feature.
