Does anyone know of a silence app that meets the following criteria? I couldn't find one that met all of them on the play store. The apps on the play store seem to be an all or nothing sort of thing.
I want to be able to do the following:
Silence on a Schedule (all of the apps seem to be able to do this)
Silence all audio notifications (all of the apps seem to be able to do this)
Silence specific audio notifications - Ringer, System, Notification, etc. (none of the apps seem to be able to be this granular)
For instance, I would like to be able to silence all system and notification sounds, but leave the ringer on, overnight from x:xx o'clock to x:xx o'clock.
The latter one is the one that I can't seem to be able to find in the play store. It's entirely possible that I am missing something when I search it.
Thank you for your assistance.
I haven't heard of one that meets all your requirements. Sorry.

Have you tried on {x}? It's from Microsoft and you write the rules (i.e. I only use WiFi at my house so based on my location it turns wifi off)
I'm sure someone could help you write the rules you would need to meet your demands.
It's available in the play store and you write the rules via computer browser.

There is an app that does this called Timeriffic
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alfray.timeriffic&hl=en
I have it installed (at the recommendation of some other android-aholic and even set up a few profiles (even one v similar to what you want to accomplish, which is to silence everything except phone call ring for emergency calls from one of my 4 kids!!) but haven't actually tested it out (so many things to try and test!!!)
I DID somewhere (now I need to figure out where/in what app/setting so I can undo that and test Timeriffic!!) set it to turn on airplane mode from midnight to 7am which essentially shuts up all the social media alerts
EDIT .... found it ... I checked "Flight Mode During The Night" in the "Battery Widget Reborn" app ... so I turned that off and the Timeriffic profile on
anyway try out Timeriffic
I think I may have found an app that will work. I am going to test it tonight. It's called Sound Manager V2.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roozen.SoundManagerv2&feature=search_result
You can also use Tasker to easily create that yourself.

Sorry to reply to my own post, but this app that I tested does exactly what I was looking for. It's a pretty basic and simple app. Free to boot.
Thanks everyone.

I want my phone to vibrate or make a noise every couple of minutes if I have a new notification. I'm not always able to hear / feel it the first time and the only vibration setting I can seem to find is only two quick pulses.
I also noticed that the green status light doesn't flash if I get a text message, where if I have an email to my gmail account it does. Is there any way to change this?
I feel like I have to check my phone all the time without these.
Have a look at Tasker. I use it to watch for certain notifications and then play a sound or do something else to get my attention, without me having to look at the phone all the time. Telling it to wait for x time before the next action is also possible (and a whole lot more).

That's frustrating... Since tasker is about $7 I have to buy an app to provide functionality that my previous basic cheap phone had. I also found that there used to be a nice free app called 'MissedCall' that you could do it with, however it's no longer on the market. GRRR

There's a 'missed call deluxe' for $1
Or there's Missed Reminder which is free.
I think that's exactly what I'm looking for! Sweet thanks!
My recommendation is Light Flow - There is a free version in Market, perfect customization possible: set different LED Colors for Calls, SMS, Mail, Low Battery etc, set different repeating sounds, vibrations...
I don't know if anyone else has come across this, but it seems that I can't get Tasker to actually stay running in the background - it loads up and allows me to create profiles etc, and after clicking the green tick to apply, the Tasker notification appears (to allow it to stay running), but after a few seconds it disappears. I've tried this both with profiles in the app, and after a clean reinstall of the app with nothing setup, and have the same experience.
I'm going to email a bug report to the developer, but just wanted to see if anyone else had also had this issue, to try and figure out what the cause is.

Could you tell me - are you both running stock ICS, or a custom ROM?
Stock Galaxy Nexus CDMA
There's a number of threads on the Google support group for Tasker re ICS issues, including notification icon disappearing. Pent's waiting on ICS for his Nexus S to look into it further.
I'm due to receive my GN tomorrow and am a *very* heavy Tasker user so will be interested to see whether I hit any issues..
Either way I have faith that Pent will sort it; he's never let us down before
the icon disappears sometimes for me but when a profile kicks in the icon comes back, so I think it does actually run. For me anyway.

Running fine for me, stock ICS, light usage (very new)
As for alsex87 I only have an icon when a profile is doing something.
Tasker work perfect in my phone.

Works fine on my GN too. Agree with other comments that it comes back when profiles change. So I'm pretty sure it's still running.
Well it's looking good so far for my setup; had to tweak tasks setting volume levels as I moved from an Atrix but everything else seems intact (including deactivating the lock screen when in 'sleep' mode). Will know for sure by the weekend.
Re: the notification icon, I have run in foreground unchecked and no icon showing. Doesn't seem to have had a negative effect so far..
It doesn't work for me. Same thing. Allows me to create a profile, but then keeps crashing.
Won't run at all for me, I was assuming it was an ICS compatibility issue. I kept waiting for an update but when I never got one, I figured I would google it. Well, I found here that it's working for most people, so I don't know what it is that's wrong.
I am a heavy Tasker user too. Just got my profiles installed. The "home" profile (wifi near) activates, then both the Tasker icon and my "home" icon disappear.
As a side question is there an easy way to copy the backup files from an old phones sd card to the Nexus? The SD card folder doesnt show up when I plug into my computer.

I've seen some people leaving it in MTP mode, but I have the best luck transferring files in PTP mode. When you plug it in to a computer, select the various modes by clicking on the USB symbol in the notification tray. Just don't switch it up while moving data.
This isn't immediately pertinent, but Locale (which I'd consider the predecessor to Tasker) seems to work fine. The only problem I have is that I can't split notification volume from ring volume (I silence emails at night but leave ringer on), but that's not Locale's fault as ICS itself doesn't seem to offer the option.

Pent now has ICS - expect reported / found issues to be resolved with the upcoming v1.2 release of Tasker per http://groups.google.com/group/tasker/browse_thread/thread/e3a1ec4dd8e30a0a
Tasker crashes for me when I try to launch it. Running a Sensation with Android 4.0.3.
I just downloaded and setup Llama. So far it has been very handy in letting me adjust my settings based on whether I am at work or home.
However, I attempted to setup an event to toggle GPS on when I open the Maps application and to turn off GPS when I close the application. However, it doesn't do so! It did note that it cannot do this on ICS as the permissions to do so have changed. However, via Google Search, I did find some mention of it working for some people but they didn't say how.
Anyone here able to do that? If so, how? If not, any other suggestions (Tasker?) on how I can accomplish this?
It doesn't work on stock. Use custom ROM like CM.

You probably already got your answer or quit looking by now but you can toggle gps. You need to use the Secure Settings plugin from the Play Store. I think you might need to be a root user to unlock all the functionality as was mentioned before but mine works like a charm now.
Another great find for me was using the Smart Shortcuts app so that when I plug in my headphones, llama turns down my volume to a manageable level and pops up a list of apps (pandora, google music, stitcher...) I use my headphones with. I do the same for when I plug in any USB, it pops up with a link to care home or clock or my alarm app because I'm usually only plugging in at night or in the car.
I just wish I had some other ideas to look through. I'm sure there is a lot more this thing can do that I'm not thinking about.

I think there is an explanation in the app. Google changed how gps could be toggled. I gave up turning off gps a long time ago. It really only uses power when an app requests it and judging by the notification it's not very often. By default llama uses cell towers, but I use wifi to pin point my location. That way my Bluetooth doesn't turn off until I reach my driveway.

Couldn't find a good answer in the only topic relating to this so I decided to post here. I am someone who frequently changes roms and the biggest problem for me is constantly setting alarms to wake me up. You might say whats the problem if you got patience with doing restore on everything else you can handle this too. Well I typically set like 10-12 alarms about 5 minutes apart so I dont skip a alarm on trying to wake up for school (yes im brilliant ). Is there a app or a thing I can use to automatically back these up without breaking my clock app or causing it to not ring sometimes and miss it.
Damn 10-12 alarms, hard time waking up?? I use 1, to wake up for work.
Try backing up the app data and restore them within different ROMs.

Not a google app developer, just if useful at all - grain of salt here - i use this one alarm app all the time from google play. The newer version did away with the backup restore but according to avg, they are going to bringing it back. Anyway i like it because it keeps reminding me throughout the day, where as the samsung is limited on the number of reminders/snoozes. I have been using alarm clock xtreme to backup and restore alarms between phones. Made customed talking alarms from another google play app type and speak (volume amd pitch are customizeable, higher pitched to me is easier to hear but more grating on the ear) which is louder than the built in native alarm when speaking the alarm name (enabling this in the samsung phone settings). Keep in mind that You do not want the alarm to go off when at the grocery store, etc. of course. Issues with the alarm app though are 1) cant have more than one alarm at a time (only one will go off if you try this) so workaround for me is to have to put them each at a different time 2) once you have too many that you dont dismiss, it will get stuck in notifications that you can not dismiss until you force stop the app, and i have had like maybe 15 or more alarms. I have an old version of the app though and when i power down the phone, and power back up, or force stop, and restart the alarm app, some alarms are still on - i like this because what i do is force stop the app before a meeting, then start it back up and my alarms are still there (though you lose the alarms that went off during the meeting). Too bad there is not an option to pause even alarms that ring while the phone is silent (while alarm defaukts are set to ring while phone is silent). On each alarm, there is a turn volume down option when phone is turned silent but my default is to alarm even if the phone is turned silent (you can pick either one since that is one of the options). 3) to me anyway, the auto dismiss is different from what is best for my use - where i want it to keep reminding me and then go after after XXX time or XXX reminders - i can not have the reminders and also the dismiss (unless i am not using it right) so i end up having to choose to get just one notice and then it autodismisses itself (example: i have a meeting and its a reminder before the meeting but i wont have time to dismiss it). 4) if you dont put the customized typeandspeak file in the ringtones folder on your phone, you may have to do these steps - for the ringtone, select "es file explorer" (if you have it), select the file, make sure the right name gets populated for ringtone, then click on ringtone again and this time select "media," then select the customized ringtone from this list (i know it sounds silly to do all this but when i dont do this, the ringtone does not go off correctly), plus there seems to be a maximum number of files it can remember, so i would just move the customized file to the ringtones folder in the main directory. Anyway, not meant to promote the app, this is what worked for me if helpful for anyone out therr - Might need to though change the alarm and/or alarm default settings to be silent when your volume gets turned down, cant tell now because i changed the original alarm default settings, whichever works best for your case. I did not test to see if the alarms are guaranteed to go off if too many alarms exist so if i have a really important event, i set my samsung alarm or my calendar so it talks to me so two alarms go off. At least the samsung alarm is guaranteed better to go off.
Oh by the way, i use helium to backup app data because i am not rooted (titanium backup). Have to test all of the app data is there afterwards though. And helium is not able to backup all apps (for example google apps prevent helium from backing it up for some reason or i could be wrong?).
This will drive me insane until I figure it out or get an answer or some sort of modded rom. On my S3 these settings were independently controllable, I used sound manager (before that, Tasker) to set schedules to turn the notifications off at night. Does anyone know how to unlink these?
Don't believe it's an option on the One. Likely will need a mod in a rom

Might want to look into Tasker to automate the disabling sync at night. Or something similar. I have my phone switch into a 'sleep mode' where I can still get calls but don't get notifications.

I don't understand when people say tasker is a puzzle.. It's easy to figure out and has a lot of guides. I have it turn off wifi and data silence my phone and only ring if certain people call at night for emergencies. It also puts my phone on vibrate if I am busy with something on my calendar.

You would ask me to do that the day I send my phone off. I can't look right now, but when I created the profile I just opened the app and goofed with it. Have you checked it out lately? The new UI apparently made things much easier and I was able to cobble it together very easily. It's not selective like "only let my family" call at night.. but I did do a time event, said after 11pm, then turn off background sync .. I also set notification volume to 0. There were far more options in Tasker than HTC had available out of the gate.
If you can't figure it out send me a PM and when my phone returns I'll get that profile set backup and I can pass it along.
