I would like to purchase Sygic and install it on the SD Card of my rooted Desire which runs nlooooo's ROM. Will the phone automatically install the app (and the maps) on the SD Card? If not, is there any reason why the procedure described here shouldn't work on a rooted phone?
Update:
I downloaded a trial version of the app and part of it was installed on the internal memory (28Mb) while the other part was saved on the card (315Mb). I tried following the instructions given in the link above but I couldn't figure out how to move the directory from internal memory to sd card and there already is a Sygic directory on the card anyway. I then executed an 'a2sd reinstall' command from the terminal followed by an 'a2sd cachesd' command but that didn't change anything. Is there anything else I can try or does this portion of the app have to stay on the internal memory?

I've rooted my Desire and installed the LeeDroid flavour of Froyo. I've formatted my SD card with the EXT3 partition, and everything went perfectly. However, I've found that when I run the new 3D Gallery application, the app stops resonding, and I need to close it (not force close though, just usual exit). When it closes, I receive a message saying "there is a problem with your SD card", and it mounts read only. I can remount the SD card, which resolves the problem. I'm guessing that the 3D Gallery is corrupted somehow, but can't uninstall it to see if this corrects the problem. Can anyone please let me know if there's a way of uninstalling the Gallery app (if this is the best way), or if there's a way to file check the SD card to fix errors (like FSCK), or if I can remove a corrupted directory, or anything really to fix this problem? Thank you
It's the A2SD+ bug. Search for SD card corruption.
use card reader to copy everything from your SD card FAT32 partition to your computer, format the SD card (just format the FAT32 partition), and transfer back the files from your computer to the card. that should do the trick.
always reboot your phone after going into Disk Drive mode to prevent this from happening again. or transfer files in recovery mode. that's A2SD+ bug. otherwise use rom without A2SD+.
I've been running my A2SD for 2 weeks now and am happy with it - other than a few apps stutter a bit.
I've put this down to my slow 'non classed' 16gb memory card, so I ordered a Class 6 16gb one the other day.
Its turned up today, and I want to swap it for the current one.
As I don't have a Linux computer, whats the best way of doing this? I can't see the partition with the Apps on it in my Windows PC.
Should I just use Titanium Backup and do a batch backup of all my 'User Apps and System Data', then copy the contents of my SD Card to my PC.... then format the new card for A2SD, then copy the contents back and restore my Backup?
Any help appreciated!
download the ubuntu live cd here http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download. it will run from a cd or usb stick and dosent need to be installed, you will be able to see your sd-ext as its a linux os, you can then just copy the apps to your hdd, partition your new card using the native ubuntu disk utility and then copy your apps to your new sd card
Thanks for the reply.
Sounds simple enough - I'll get downloading.
Do I just stick my SD in a USB reader and do it, or read the SD straight from the Desire?
Cant you just copy the files to your pc then paste them back when you put the new SD card in? Worked for me today... well all seems fine upto yet
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
He can't because he has a ext2/3 file system partiotion that he's using for A2SD and ext is not shown in windows.
You probably don't have ext2/3 and that's why it worked without problems for you.

I don't think it matters, it should work both ways.
Just out of curiousity.... will my Mac see the A2SD partition on my SD card since Apple OS shares a lot in common with Linux?
Wouldnt the easiest option to be to do a nandroid, partition the new sd card, then just restore the nandroid saves faffing about with other stuff.
Depending on what rom your using it may be a better option to use data2sd
Hi,
So I read the instruction about formatting SD Card to run Froyo X. If I have a gps app on storage card for windows mobile, should I buy another SD card to run Android or do I need to create a partition for windows storage card for apps and another partition for Android? I have a 8gb kingston micro sd at the moment. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!!
I have iGO as well a sa bunch of WM apps installed to my SD card as well. Here is what I do, works like a charm every time, all WM6 apps still function...
Delete ANDBOOT folder on the card
I just create an empty folder on my PC called "SD"
Go to the root of the card, select all, CUT
PASTE on the pc folder called "SD"
When the move is finished, I do a full format using the SD Formatter tool:
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3
Put the new ANDBOOT on the card
Cut/Paste the "SD" folder from the PC back to the card
I did the same, worked for me also.
Hello.
When I install app to my tab, all aplications goes to internal memory. and i have almost full this memory.
When I use the "Remove to SD card" utility does not helping anyway.
I tried in cmd use "adb shell pm set-install-location 2" (external) but still app installing on sd card
Is there any chane to force the tab to install aplications directly to SD card WITHOUT root. (i dont have a root) (tab T520)
(sorry for my english
If you are rooted, go to app store and download NextApp SDFix... follow the instructions, then after that try to move your apps to your sd card
Hello.
What I have:
- SM-P605 on android 4.4.2 - rooted
- 32gb SD card formated as FAT32
What is my Goal?
Around 12gb internal space for installation is for me not enough. I have external sd card 32gb and I want to use it as a place where I can install games and apps.
I have tried few applications which "move" game data but they do not move all the data only installation folder (Hearthstone- apps move only 58mb and game has over 2gb used space)
I saw some tutorial how to swap internal sd with external by modification of vold.fstab but it was only for older system versions(or I do not know what to change to make it work)
Tried to change install location by adb using command: adb shell pm set-install-location 2 but it do not work, games and apps still use internal memory.
I do not want to install any other rom since I like stock rom, but if anyone could help me in this problem I would be grateful.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards.

I have a 128 gb sd card and use the app root folder mount. The app basically does everything for you. It mounts the folder to the microsd card. If you google it and go to the xda forums youll find it and it explains how it works. I have at least 50 gb of game data stored on it and all my games work fine.
