Apn ipv settings. - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone tried playing with the ipv4 ipv6 home or roaming settings? Idk if any roaming data signals have an ipv6 address or not. Any improved data roaming from accepting ipv6? My sprint service is horrid out here so I roam pretty much at all times.

It may be in my head, but I went ahead and switched setting to ipv4/ipv6 and I feel like I am getting more data coverage.

This says it will make no difference to end user:

Suddenly no data when using wap.cingular.com APN

I've been using my S3 with LTE turned off by creating a new APN and setting it to wap.cingular.com. It's been working fine up until this morning when a strange thing started happening. I am able to make and receive phone calls just fine but I have no data connectivity at all. Email won't sync and gives me an error "network unavailable", no Pandora, no youtube, nothing that requires data.
When I switch the APN back to the default one, I get data again, but when I go back to the wap.cingular.com one, no data.
I tried shutting off the phone and pulling the battery for 30 seconds, I tried deleting and recreating the APN, and still nothing.
I've been using that APN because it gives me longer battery life so I'd like to keep using it if possible.
Any ideas on what might be going on? BTW, I'm in the Miami, FL area in case that matter.
At&t is killing edge in not so distant future LTE is the future. Maybe they killd old towers where you live?

Yeah but using the wap.cingular APN puts the phone in 3G mode, not edge. And if they killed the old towers that use that APN, why would I still get phone signal?
I'm at a loss.

I have exactly the same issue. Every 10 minutes with that APN I lose signal for about 30 seconds. Very annoying.

hrmm...and mine only started today. Before today I'm pretty sure it was working fine. I haven't noticed if I'm losing signal every 10 minutes though. I just know that I have no data whatsoever 100% of the time when using that APN.

When my phone is using edge, there is an E right next to my signal meter. It's not using edge when I'm on wap.cingular.com.
And when the E is there, I get data.
Can someone please confirm what the settings should be when I create a new APN using wap.cingular.com? Maybe my settings are wrong?
roaming charges
I did this also, created APN for wap.cingular. If you go to settings->about device->status, you can see that you are on HSPA.
Does anybody know if AT&T charges roaming for this? I hope not. Since the plan is 4G LTE data plan, any other network (even their own HSPA) might be roaming?

Its probably your apn settings. Make sure proxy and port are blank. ST's recommended apn settings will limit your data speed. BTW make sure you still have recommended setting for MMS proxy and MMS port.

I put my wifes ST sim in and i got 6mb transfer rate, so im calling ST. I def have not used a lot of bandwidth so i dont think im being throttled.
UPDATE: I called straight talk. They reset my internet settings on the account. They called it a 'congestion'. Either that or they were randomly throttling people to see if they notice. Anyway she did that then I rebooted my phone and get a solid 6mbps download connection and about 1 up. So that seems to have fixed the problem! They were pretty easy to deal with.
Glad to hear you got that figured out

T-Mobile LTE APN works on Simple Mobile.

I have Note ii and yesterday updated to 4.1.2. I thought that the APN setting intact as Simple Mobile setting, and I kept using it untill now. Then I found out that I am using T-Mobile LTE APN Setting, which they worked fine. and even more the internet speed is 14mbs. even even more I have test the MMS and it does work too. I am waiting for t-mobile to switch LTE so I can check the speed. that will be awesome. btw I am from Houston, TX.

Are you sure you're using the T-Mobile LTE APN? I'm pretty sure the standard connectivity speed for T-Mobile is 14 Mbps. Any incorrect or unknown APN will also be routed directly to the network's default, so it would help to know exactly which setting you are using.
Thanks!

Unfortunately that's just Dual HSPA+
You will see "4G LTE" instead of just "4G" on the top of your notification when it's enabled in your area. I'm keeping my fingers crossed also. When LTE is working you will also see a big difference with your upload speed as well.

fast.t-mobile.com ... My Note 2 updated itself yesterday and changed the APN to that. I have not been able to check it yet because I am on Simple Mobile and they turned off my data today for "violation of terms" [again]. When I stream outbound video they do that automatically. I do it on purpose just to piss them off ... right before my prepaid renewal of the 22nd of the month tomorrow. Will be anxious to see if Simple is given the LTE network too. Will find out tomorrow LOL

How much has the speed increased by the LTE thing? Like before and after updating APN thing.

TIP : " Slow Lte or no Lte avail"increase data Speeds below" Non Lte" WORKS!

TIP : " Slow Lte or no Lte avail"increase data Speeds below" Non Lte" WORKS!
This will dramatically increase the data, speed if you have poor lte signal or no Lte data available in your area.
This has also been done on many htc one devices
"Originally posted by mjybarr"
Over in htc one forum.
"I DONT TAKE CREDIT FOR THE FIND" IM JUST SHARING THIS WITH S4 FORUM.
I am sharing this with the s4 as it is relevant info for all
Note :you dont have to do this but for those yielding 8mb or slower i suggest.
Tmo has made fast.tmobile the default apn, which is the lte apn... so if lte is not available or poor in your area you probably will get 3g by default EVEN tho its a 4g icon it will yield 3g speeds, because 3g speeds can be anywhere from 1-3 mbps. You can add the hspa+ apn which will give u 8-15 mb dload speeds or more, it definitely has worked for me and many others.
Here's the settings From my Htc One, which will be same for s4 and any phone.
IMPORTANT* See the illustrations for reference.
You must add default, mms, supl
Under apn type for the new apn to stick.
If you dont it will revert back to fast.t mobile
You can leave it under lte/gsm/wcdma
Switch the apn protocol from Ipv4 to Ipv4/Ipv6
Then hit save and Run a Speed test
Good luck .
Feel free to Hit the thanks button

I've only been able to test in one location (undergoing treatment atm), but the results were definitely noticeable.
From 4.4mbps down to 14.2-16.5mbps down.
Sadly, upload is still around 1.9mbps, in this area.

I get this most of the time with:
Apn type

Apn protocol
IPv4
I'll be damned. I got 23mbit on fast.t-mobile.com in my home city, and thought the network was just overloaded here. Just switched to epc.t-mobile.com... tripled. What. This should not be a thing.

[Q] APN Settings Or Importer??

When installing Skynote RC9z I forgot to backup my apn's.
Can I get someone to list them for me and how do I set the IPv6 apn.
Plus since I'm on PostPaid I read that I could use MetroPCS apn's, so a list of those please. Thanks
I normally never worry about apn's cause they're automatically restored but I forgot about specifically reading in Skynote thread to backup apn's and forgot.

Yea I downloaded and used HiAPN, really wished I would've backed up my APN's from SkyNote RC9.1 cause I noticed I had a IPv6 LTE APN
I created a MetroPCS APN To tinker around with when I'm in low T-Mobile Coverage Zones that have higher MetroPCS Coverages. Shall be interesting, I was connected to it all night last night using it fine no problems.

I just used this link to correct my APN settings on my T-Mobile Note 2
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-6763
Or you can just create a new APN.
Just like to add, I was in a no coverage zone I go to a lot and there for half the day switched from the T-Mobile APN getting kbps like back and forth between edge and gprs and decided to try and switch to the MetroPCS APN I manually added and was instantly get 4G and HSPA or lot LTE speeds between 3mbps to 7 and 10 constantly.
