Which ROM, in your opinion, has the best battery life for the DHD? Doesn't matter if it's AOSP, stock, etc.
I'm just struggling to get through a days' heavy use with Cyanogenmod and MIUI...
Thanks in advance.

I've tested many GB, ICS, and JB ROMS and so far IceColdSandwich has been the ROM with the best battery life so far, Jelly Time is also good if you'd prefer a JB ROM.

Is the speed of IceColdSandwich acceptable? As a daily driver? I tried it awhile ago and didn't like it too much. I preferred AOSPx but the battery drain was ridiculous.

The speed is good, I sometimes get random lags but you might not necessarily get those.
I'm getting only 12-14 hours of battery life using Runny Xtreme Surprise - v3.0.1
Which rom should I go for? I prefer GB because of camera, I really take a lot of photos.

I was a sense user too but ever since i flashed CM 7.2, i have no complaints at all + you have theme chooser so that you can customize a bit here and there. Battery lasts around 2-3 days on standby. You will see yourself that the battery life is much better than all those sense or other roms...Now i was wondering if i was to flash LordClockan's kernel and replace the current CM kernel, would it do any good towards performance and battery life?
CM 7.2 stable version
Seems like someone forgot to read the rules.

I've done some collection of ROMs that look the "best" to me, but not in terms of battery life; actual looks is what I liked about them.
Whether or not their battery lives are the best based on looks, I don't know, but I was wanting to see if there was one ROM in my collected list which most people found to be their favorite.
Here is my list:
OMFGB Latest Nightly
MIUI Latest
Virtuous Unity Latest
Pyramid3D Latest
TSM GingerBang Latest
RMK Ginger Sense Latest
TSMPoolParty Latest
Liquid Smooth
Of these, I've tried MIUI, Virtuous Unity, TSM GingerBang, RMK Ginger Sense, and TSMPoolParty. I liked Ginger Sense due to the fact that it is essentially a stock ROM but optimized, and I liked MIUI due to its simple complexity. I like the Sense look and feel, but senseless ROMs seem more efficient in regard to battery life to me.
So, what is your favorite among this list, and what can you recommend to me, knowing that I like a long battery life while still having the Sense look and feel?
Seems as if this is the incorrect section.
Could this thread be moved to Q&A, please?
My phone HTC HD2:
I used:
windows 6.5
Android
Windows 7
Ubuntu
I still Android ROM Desire Sense, it's slow but I like it. If be fast it be perfect.
So you used Windows on your phone? How did you go about doing that? What are the benefits?
Gingerbang 1.6 gave me the best battery life, with minimum usage, only voice calls and light web surfing, I got 4 days out of a full charge on the Mugen 1800mah cell. version 2.01 is very close but I had sense 3.0 patch running so the extra weight used up a little more juice. I would say GB 2.01 it's on par with Skyraider.
GingerBang 2.01 has all of the annoying Verizon bloatware that runs in the background disabled, correct? If not, how would you recommend either removing those apps, or disallowing them from running in the background?

yup, it has zero bloatware, you don't need to remove anything from it. I have tried every single one of the custom roms out there and the Gingerbang 2.01 is my only daily driver, with the sense 3.0 patch installed it looks similar to Skyraider (another hybrid rom I would run daily), but the Gingerbang feels much more responsive and snappier.

Using the HD2 you can gain root, and install many an OS on it. I think due to the windows mobile it ran on.
RMK Gingersense has the best battery life for me as a user.
My phone works. Without glitch. And it provides about 15 to 18 hours of battery life with decent business usage (calls, emails) and streaming radio (about 3 hours).
Why someone would need more then that I dont know - I mean, I charge my phone before bed so it is good to go the next day unless I am traveling.
I've had good luck with CM7 or OMFGB for battery life.
25 hours, and still 54 percent left

Wow, that's definitely very impressive. What settings did you have to change, or what do you do differently than stock, to get the battery to last for that long?

Nothing to much really in changes. I was using JD kernals 8-21-11 along with the smartass governor with CM7 nightly 56 when I took that screen shot. I also was using Incredicontrol with all the voltages dropped -25 from the stock JD voltage setting.
I hadn't been using the phone much that day though, so that really makes a lot of the difference.
Under moderate use I will go 24 hours on a charge pretty easily.
Edit,
Here's a capture from my Miui days.
This was with the Tiamat kernal, 1.1.2 I do believe, using the smartass governor (basically my default governor).
Since I was using the battery bar at the top of the screen I can't say what my exact percentage was that is left, but probably around 35-40 percent. This would be more of a normal usage for me.

I've been using GingerBang 2.01 for a while with excellent battery life. I'm usually down to ~30% left after 18 hours of moderate to heavy use.
ROM stability is very important to me, that's why I have stuck with this one. Long battery life is an added bonus.

Vanilla or Sense?
OMFGB for me
I've gone from CM7 nightlies to TSM Ginger sense to Gingerbang Vanilla to Mikrom's Inc2 HD to OMFGB.
OMFGB seems to be the most lean of them all, and therefore the fastest and best battery life. For me anyway.
I keep on hearing good things about Virtous Unity, I may try that one next.
I've used MIUI on my Inc1 before and it seems faster than CM7, so I might give that a go as well.

Seems as if you're on nearly the same exact path as I. Good to hear! I'm using HD right now. Is OMFGB a Sense based ROM, Vanilla, or AOSP? How much bloat is on it?
It's AOSP, which is vanilla. It's a custom ROM though, so there's tweaks and stuff added.

Alright, sounds reasonable. What all do you do to it from the original settings to get it to be most lean, as you claimed?
What is the best stable custom rom for wildfire s ?
CM9 or CM7 or anything ??
its relative, depend the device.

CM 7 is the most stable non-sense ROM till now. CM9 has some bugs , if u can survive wth them , you can use it. For sense rom personally i like Wildchild.

no way! cyanogenmods are sense-less, if you want sense interface you must use a sense rom.
can try a non-sense customizable rom with a sense theme, but it's not a good choice imho..
Cryptomilk CM9
Just trying out ....
cm-9.0.0-RC0-CRYPTOMILK-ALPHA3-UNOFFICIAL-marvel
This seems pretty nifty, no issues as yet, and looks really good too with lots of control tweaks with the Trebuchet app.
cheers

My WildChild WOM wasts a weally wong time.
With moderate to heavy usage (phone, browsing, streaming, Market, etc.) I get a good 24hrs on it. Usually more.
If your main concern is battery life, set your CPU min/max to 600/600Mhz using the Performance governor. Use noop as the scheduler. Your phone will last a long time and still be peppy (but not overclocked).

I know this is a pretty dumb and common question but i wouldn't have asked if i didn't need to ask it badly. I am leaving leaving my place for a month and i would need a longer battery life between charges because i will mostly be on picnic outside or doing something else where the connection won't be possible. Two things i would ask is that whether the LC ICS atm has good battery life because i had stopped flashing a while ago and i don't have time to go through every rom just to record battery life. Also how is the 480p on LC ICS compared to the 720p on GB roms because i will be recording A LOT from my phone. If LC's rom isn't that stable then can someone link me to a good GB rom with smooth interface and good battery life. By "good" i mean 8-12 hours with moderate use, is that a lot? and of course more is better.
EDIT: oh yeah, Mods! please don't lock this right away xD
Thanks a lot in advance !
This gotta be in the Q&A section.
Back to your question:
I would maybe recommend cyanogenmod 7.2 or ARHD roms.

I guess that CM7.2 is your call...has no sense at all, but works great and battery life is great. Take into consideration that battery life is not awesome in this device, but CM7.2 is not bad at all...also paranoid android is awesome, but is ICS and camera is not as smooth as in GB.
If not, you can try CoreDroid V9.4 or the Energy Rom...both have great battery life and no lags at all at least for me....

I don't have a link but you should easily find it by google.....

I am back to CM9, trying out the official Weekly's, just had too many issues on the various CM10 ROM's to use as a daily for now. I appreciate all the tough work the dev's are doing on CM10 for the One X right now, and with their blood and sweat it will surely be bad ass, and perfect in time, but I need stability and battery life first, so CM9 it is for now. I know a Sense based ROM would give the best battery and stability, but YUCK, can't stand the look and feel Sense or any UI besides good ol vanilla Android
Which kernel would you recommend best for battery life on stock CM9 ? And what setting ? OnDemand or Interactive ?
Or is the stock kernel from the 0923 Weekly the best ?
Thank you

I got the same question but can't find help from anywhere... i am on cm9.1 nozomi, and i got problems with battery draining faster than stock ICS even when on standby... so I've search if different kernels could improve my battery life. i really hope someone could help...
I bought my Galaxy W and instantly started modding it, currently I'm on Arco's CyanogenMod 9 EOL, I didn't have much experience with the stock ROM you actually get with the phone, Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread with TouchWiz 4 UX.
My question is, is the stock ROM the most stable ROM with the best battery life you can get?
I would like to have some basic info like how smooth it is, the battery life, usability compared to the later CyanogenMod ROMs. I'd like to know whether its actually the best option except being kind of out of date now.
Thank you in advance :good:

I think that's true..
cause some Custom ROM come with some tweaks, some can keep the processor running low during standby. some also have some kind of better ram management.
Also if you want, you also can try some other kernel. cause some can even make longer battery life
switched for a tweaked stock 2.3.6 to a custom ICS and never looked back, the performance is just much better
I would say that my battery lasts longer with a custom rom. On stock sometimes it suddenly went off.
Currently I'm fine with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2214042. And the camera isn't green.
