I am wondering if its possible to port or compile gingerbread 2.3.3 to the galaxy nexus ?? i know this is a bit awkward but i don't like ICS its horrible and feels sluggish .... its too different from the GSII i used to have and plus, wont it make the phone faster since 2.3.3 is an old os to me its like i downgraded from the galaxy s II cause its slower i cant believe this is googles "pure android" is it possible ?
I'm sure its technically possible. It will most likely never happen.

ICS destroys Gingerbread in every way I've found so far, bar none, end of story. I'm even using an underclocked kernel and it doesn't skip a beat plus I'm averaging 18 hours of battery with moderate use!
If you're finding ICS laggy at all on the Galaxy Nexus then you're definitely doing it wrong... more than likely it's a crap app or two screwing you over.

No, even if it was possible it's not going to make your phone faster. If anything ICS is the more efficient OS. The reason the Nexus sometimes feel sluggish compared to the GS2 is because they are both running with similar specs but the Nexus is running at a higher resolution.

Man, aside from the camera, the GalNex is better than my old Epic Touch 4G in every way...using one of my devices on GB after using ICS is horrible. GB feels unbelievably dated in comparison. There are all these devices dropping still running GB, and it's hard for me to even look at any of them as appealing. Anything not running ICS is automatically a step below the rest...its just so damn night and day. Played with a friends Razr, loved the form, but using it just felt the same as every other Android in the last 3 years. ICS feels nothing like the crusty old Android everyone has become used to.
You are holding it wrong...

the only thing possible is that you don't know what are you saying....
ics slower, horrible, downgrading from the gs2....i don't think you are serious...because it's impossible,i played a long with gs2 and ginger, but i don't see that slugginesh that you refer when i changed to gnex..and you are the first that i heard say that...coincidence?
Sigh I still want gb
Idgaf what every1 hates my desires so much but I tryed gb on the n1 and compared It just feels better had gun since it came out .. but gb still draws my attention

Great thread bump... this still isn't going to happen.
Buy a Nexus One.
**** this kind of threads.. Is it possible to install windows 3.1 on a core i7? Is it possible to install a 4 cylinders engine to a ferrari? Is it possible to use a NES controller in a PS3? Yes might be, but nobody will waste time doing such stupid things... If you want that, why dont you waste your own time and do it yourself?
Pure Google doesn't mean hardware drivers updates for old hardware.. Its like saying that pure Microsoft computer will create drivers for the Last generation nvidea video card to run with pure Microsoft windows xP for not going to much back in time, they wont support drivers for older OSs
Cheers

Buy a nexus one. Hold it to your head. Call 911. Tell 'em your suicidal. Problem solved.
let it be.
Gingerbread is the buggiest android version so far, y would anyone (who tried it) want to revert back...

The new beta works just fine, talk to Samsung about their f'd up kernel and leaks ....it runs great on galaxy nexus
So it's not chrome it's probably Samsung not having full hardware acceleration right in the leaks etc

Yep didn't think of that
I may get a gnex for the hell of it
How is it speed wise compared to et

Cpu is about the same not really slower , screen resolution is better, being 720p but colors are a little duller...camera is not bad and love the take picture while recording video...I would advise to wait till thursday and see what's announced about galaxy 3....I will get it probably get it unless it doesn't have exynos

hmm
A galaxy nexus phablet would be nice too lol.
If the s3 isn't a major upgrade I'm not jumping in.

There have been rumors of such but who knows...yea in az I don't have 4g so didn't matter between wimax and lte, but #1 thing I love is the same recovery all the time no built in kernel junk team win recovery is nice too...that makes it worth it to me and makes it really easier to run aokp , crossbones, cm9 , liquid smooth, miui ....and any kernel works vzw gsm ..no crazy odin el26 & flash or you brick your phone.. I loved the e4gt but it should not be that hard to flash anything

Please don't flame me. Honest opinions from people who has used the Droid RAZR xt910 (gsm). Should I trade my Nexus for one? It is a white version with box and 16gb SD card. I'm using straight talk at&t so hopefully it'll work flawlessly. Any advice? I loved my Atrix 2 when I had it and I love my gnex. :/ But the RAZR is like a thin Atrix 2. Help!!!! Lol

Um I had it before and it is pretty good phone, but it is really slow compared to Gnex... also you get pretty lame updates compared to Gnex. Gnex just brings more to the table if you ask me

I'm not too worried about updates. It'll at least see jellybean. But the speed worries me. I've seen Antutu bench scores in the mid 6000s. Thats on stock ICS. I know numbers don't matter but the gnex is around the same in numbers. Does the droid just have more menue lag or something?

I personally doubt that it's gonna get a jelly bean update... also razr is just had more "android lag" even with ics update... I just don't think you will get a lot from the trade, that is all. Of course, choice is yours

Its got the exact same internals as the nexus. Think the motoblur will be the factor in no jellybean?

Motoblur is definitely going to be the factor. It's going to take Motorola ages to push out Jelly Bean for it and that's if they even decide to at all.
Well it took Samsung and Motorola similar times to push ICS to the gs2 and the RAZR. But Motorola gets worse rep than Samsung. :/ why's that?

You guys think the S3 was a bad choice for me? I've always been about pure android, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus. Screen cracked on the Nexus so I "upgraded" to an S3. It's really quick but kinda laggy. Galaxy Nexus was definitely quicker and now there's rumors of the new Nexus coming out around November/December which I'll wanna get. You guys think the S3 was a bad choice getting it at this time? Do you want the new Nexus or like Nexus better?
I could always sell my S3 when it comes out and buy the Nexus, if the S3 is still worth something in December.
Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk 2
The s3 will still be worth something in December. I understand your wanting a pure android experience.... But "quick but laggy", which is it?? I've had no complaints but everyone wants different things out of their devices.... If you are not happy with it, sell it and buy the nexus.
What's wrong with aosp?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I honestly don't think an LG Nexus is going to be that amazing. I've never been impressed by any of LGs phones.
Also, just install any AOSP ROM and you days of lag will be no more.

After using Touchwiz for 2 months with ICS, it got boring because it lags. I flashed ParanoidAndroid and it's very fast.

Own a nexus and it is no way smoother than the gs3. But if you want aosp just install aokp,cm10 or paranoiddroid. All of which work great on the gs3.
Touchwiz does get clunky after adding all my widgets but nova prime on stock with touchwiz icons worked well for me too.. currently though aokp is going solid.

Ya I get this response a lot. I had the gnex, gf now has it and multi tasking was smoother, YouTube was a lot smoother. Watching YouTube on my S3 and pulling my notification bar down it is pretty clunky. I don't want to run custom anymore.

Oh, right; sorry I missed that. Yeah, my notification bar lags when I'm watching a YouTube video, too! Never had occasion to bring it down before there....
I think the JB OTA will solidify the GS3. I'm a little hesitant to run custom, too. I mean, they're called nightlies for a reason. If there was ever a bleeding edge, they are it.

Ya the lag isn't to big of a concern cause I think JB will really spice this phone up. I do t wanna run custom, I don't have the time to flash everyday anymore and keep up. And my laptop is broken rn
I'll still probably get the newest nexus though, if it has the rumored update and isn't made by LG.
Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk 2
I have both a nexus with custom JB and I have my S3 back to Triune2 ICS. I tested JB roms on the S3 and they ARE noticeably smoother! Also nova Prime is definitely a better experience than stock JB launcher on nexus (especially if you take advantage of the swipe gestures).
If you want to check where the difference in horsepower lies, load a fancy live wallpaper such as ocean HD (it was 25c a few days ago), it runs like butter on the S3 but the nexus struggles with it!
Just looking for opinions...
I know these are both old phones, but I want to stick with 3g phones because they work on pageplus without manual programing. So please don't suggest any other phones that are 4g.
That said, the fascinate and incredible 2 are similar in specs, but I wonder which one runs jellybean the best?? I've heard that samsung has better support, but the inc2 has slightly better hardware.
Has anyone here owned both? Comments?
Seems like the fascinate has great support, just remember that this phone has a front facing camera, wireless charging, its global and i prefer sense to touchwiz if you were to ask. Also the camera on the Inc 2 is better than most 2011 and back phones
My dad had a fascinate and it was terrible. Kept freezing and gps sucked *ss.

You guys seem to forget that the CM crew turned the original Galaxy S line into little Nexus S clones. Hence why they get official CM nightlies while this phone doesn't.
No offense though, the Inc2. Was a hell of a phone

Samsung may have great support, but you can't compare the inc2 to the galaxy s or the quality of the phones. Hell the HTC one is the sexiest android alive save for the Moto X.
Plus we got cm nighties, all you need to do is install the updates provided by chilly, or try Evervolv, or if you wanna level with the s1, cm7 nighties

I'd avoid the Fascinate, the radio on it is horrible. I've used both with page plus and the Fascinate had no signal in areas where the INC2 and droid x did. I couldn't make calls with the Fascinate in some areas where the inc and droid x could.
