For some reason when I load the 1115 PRL I only get 3g speeds for about 1/2 an hour, then it goes back to 1x. I have tried reloading a couple of different times and still the same thing. I use roam control to switch over to Verizon and that works just dandy, but no 3g speeds. Its the weirdest thing, anyone else have the same issues?
i have same exact problem i am on 1x all the time after 11115 prl
will wait for answer otherwise going to take it back to sprint let them fix it..
Maybe the area ur in doesn't have 3g on vz? I know there's one area I go to that there's barely a vz signal with 1x

1115 only gives 3 g in 5 states. I'm not sure which ones. Chances are 1115 will have no effect for you. If you want 3g you need to use 0001 otherwise your stuck on 1x

Also there is an app in the market called netmonitor it will tell you what if you are roaming.
If the "carrier " says sprint , your not roaming.
It also says the network type you are on.

Man what the hell I'm totally jelous...
Try out roam control. It's been mentioned in these forums before and it works great. Unfortunately it's not on the market anymore but you can buy it directly from the developers website. I use it at work where I get hardly any sprint service and it roams on 3G perfectly. It also helps out my battery because the phone isn't constantly trying to switch from roaming to local. I think the site is roamctrl.com.
I use Roam Control in Atlanta and it works great and I do indeed receive Verizon 3G on my phone. But Roam Control can't magically give you 3G if it's just not available on PRL 11115 in your area. I would try a different PRL but please be wary of roaming all the time. Sprint will eventually be very upset with you.

Use the search button or try it yourself.

It works in Houston, Texas area. When my discount with Sprint was through Dish Network all my devices would have the business PRLs. I found a way to change my discount from 16% to 20% by creating a AOL email. Anyway since doing that I no longer get the business PRLs. Not worth the 4%, since I no longer work with Dish Network I am stuck with this AOL discount

That's not the Verizon prl. It's the Sprint corporate prl that allows 3g roaming in some markets. There's a newer version available, 11119.
The Verizon prl is hacked and is v.00001. It is also very outdated.

Confirmed. Yes it works.
If we use verizon prl on sprint phone, it will always use verizon tower and it does not show the roaming indicator but it's under roaming. If you are going to use verizon prl, then you won't need roam control because you don't have any other choice. There are several prls which has the modified sprint prls. What this means, you can choose between sprint and other carriers(towers) and you may need a roam control to control the roaming.

Read closer. Sprint itself limits roaming to 1x, it's not a problem caused by Samsung.
And, for the record, my phone roams on 3g just fine with 111115 and 111119.

I'm interested in being able to roam on Verizon, since Sprint is a POS at my school and home, and I'm constantly loosing messages, and data speeds are very sad. Anyways, I did a quick search and found a guide on changing the PRL to Sprint's "Corporate PRL" which apparently grants roaming with 3G data on Sprint, but it seems as if though that guide is old (Sept 19 from last year) and I'm not sure it'll work on my ROM (AOKP JB) So, does that guide still work? Is it safe? If no, what are my other options?
Also, how much minutes/texts/data usage would piss off Sprint? I've been meaning to switch for a while now...

I don't want to get too deep into this since there is a PRL thread in the forums, but doesn't that one force you to roam all the time? Sprint has a roaming limit of something like 200MB a month; if you go over that they can and frequently will cancel the rest of your contact. Some people do that on purpose, which I don't recommend or advise. If you just want to use your phone when you don't have much of a signal, use a PRL like 11115 along with the app Roam Control, that way you control when the phone roams.
yes.. oooo2 or w.e is a verizon prl roaming 100%.. i used the sprint corp prl i think 11124 or something which wasnt roaming while set to home only. but would have verizon 3g while in roam only with roam control which is compatible with jb now... however if using verizon eventually u will get a call from sprints roaming team.. and the prl thread is right. just need to be on a tw rom and when u go back to a aosp rom prl will stay until u update it

I do a lot of roaming on US Cellular with a prl that gives 3G always with great results. Sadly looks as if this deal doesn't include Oklahoma. Sprint really needs some work round here. :/

Question when you are roaming aint theres a limit of data that you cant exceed if not sprint will terminate your contract? These are areas which USCC has NO 4g lte coverage because they lack the spectrum to do so or it's just not profitable. Not to mention these are also markets where sprint severely needs additional spectrum... the perfect storm i suppose.

Really depends on the area you're in, but I live and work in two different states and that is the best for me in both areas. With that you wouldn't need roam control as it is a Sprint prl.

If you know your MSL number
open phone dialer
dial ##data#
edit
enter MSL number
go to other
multimedia
set the proxy numbers to

0.0.0.0
0
exit out and reboot your phone.
It bypasses the sprint proxy server. One less data hop.

I have a friend of a friend (yeah, I know) who works for Sprint/Nextel. Supposedly, they are knocking down 3G towers and not telling any of their customers.
Another issue that you may or may not be having is 4G downloads on custom kernels. If your 4G download speeds are very slow you may need to use a repack or stock kernel.

This is not true at all. Sprint is disbanding their iden network, beyond that, their towers operate at different frequencies so they carry 3g and 4g on the same tower. What your friend might have been referring to is the practice of re-directing towers when coverage is opened in a new area, which can affect existing service slightly, and typically customers aren't informed.

You could install a port forwarder and a proxy server and forward port 8085 to 127.0.0.1.
Just an idea.
