How to pair a bluetooth keyboard with broken screen? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I recently cracked the screen on my i9250 and am trying to come up with a way to sync a bluetooth keyboard etc and then use an MHL cable and just use it as an adhoc googletv. I've since picked up an S3 so I dont need to repair it. I was thinking the easiest way would be to use a usb hub with MHL and USB mouse but I've read that it wont work. Any ideas?

Yes the phone has built in Bluetooth and usb profiles for keyboards and mouse. It will do everything you asked about.
found a compatible keyboard, any ideas on a mouse?

My Microsoft Bluetooth mouse works just fine with it.
I'm sure that my apple bluetooth keyboard and mice would work then. FYI if you peeps do connect the apple keyboard, don't forget to hit function f6 twice..otherwise your keyboard won't work properly

[Q] Broken t989

Hey guys, I been trying to read the forums the last couple of days but i haven't been able to figure this out.
So both my lcd/touchscreen is not working. (the way i verified is i plugged into mhl adapter and i see screen. but i can't even enter in the pin)
my s2 is stock. and i'm trying to back up the stuff on my phone. (photos/music)
Is there any way to enter in the password through kies/odin/other apps. so i can get to the next step of backing up my stuff on kies?
I've even gone all the way of researching if i can use a usb mouse with mhl adapter and that doesn't seem possible (?)
anyone have suggestions?

If you have a pin (instead of a swipe gesture) and a usb otg cable, you may be in luck. I just set a pin, locked my phone, and was able to unlock it with a usb keyboard connected via the otg adapter. in theory, you could could swap between your otg and your mhl adapter to get things going for your backup. If you have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, you may want to get those configured first so you can have both input and display at the same time.
My biggest gripe with the sgs2 is a not being able to have otg and mhl at the same time!

There should be a software to connect your phone screen on the computer. You could try that and control your phone from your computer.

[Q] Using Vizio VUR10 as bluetooth keyboard/mouse

I am not rooted and I have a Galaxy Note 2 from ATT model I317. I was able to pair my Vizio tv remote to my phone using bluetooth, it is a VUR10. It works great for a while, but if I am not constantly using it the phone seems to forget that it is there or only part of the buttons work. I thought that I read in some other forums that the Galaxy products do have a bad habit of loosing the bluetooth connection with some devices. Is there a better way to utilize this remote as a keyboard without being rooted? Any apps that would help make it more functional or fix the bluetooth problem. I really want to use this remote while I have my phone hooked up through the smart dock. At this point I don't have a usb powered hub to hook up to the smart dock to use a wireless keyboard/mouse combo.

Help , need to get OTG and MHL working simultaneously !

Hi guys,
My galaxy nexus screen has been cracked and it does not respond in 75% of the screen.
I bought a MHL to HDMI convertor on amazon and luckily got the phone UI to show up on my TV
Now since the touchscreen won't work , I need to connect a keyboard or mouse via USB OTG and use it for navigation.
Problem is the Galaxy Nexus has only a single microUSB/MHL port combined into one.
I have no idea how to split the output from the phone to connect to a USB OTG cable and MHL to HDMI adapter simultaneously !
Any help will be appreciated,
The phone is not rooted AFAIK , but may be I'm not sure. It was running Android 4.1 JellyBean when I dropped it on the floor
The phone does show up on my Windows PC and I have copied the photos off it. But I still want to copy contacts and SMS messages.
You tried just using something like Android Screencast from the PC (USB debugging is needed)
Also, some MHL adapters have a USB port in them, for power. Have you tried getting a crude micro USB splitter? Like this one? http://www.replacebase.co.uk/micro-usb-female-to-2-x-micro-usb-male-splitter-2392-p.asp#.URk59JGYOBs
Not guaranteed that would work though. Also, a quick google of what you want brings up some others with the same issue, have you tried to see if any of them have succeeded?

Good news
I had a spare galaxy nexus in the office and I gently took the screws of both the devices , and just swapped the displays so that I could quickly turn on usb debugging , backup essential stuff and also turn on bluetooth.
Thanks to some assembly videos on youtube ! will share some pics soon

[Q] Broken screen, is there anyway to connect phone to tv to use it?

Hello my girlfriend has this at&t samsung galaxy s3 and she recently broke her screen. She got a new phone through an upgrade and the S3 is now a spare laying around, I don't want to buy a screen to fix it because its too much money. I have an old Atrix 2 that I have connected to my HDTV by HDMI cable and have an app installed in it called Droid Mote Server and that phone is always connected to the tv and the app is set to launch at start up and is controlled by another droid phone running droid mote client. So like that I have netflix, pandora, youtube, web browsing, and basically can run any app.
Well she asked me if I can do the same to her phone connecting it to her hdtv by an MHL adapter then run the droid mote server app to be able to control the S3 that has a broken screen by another phone running the droid mote client. She mainly wants netflix on her tv.
Can this be done with a broken screen? The phone is not rooted, it is connected to wifi at home, all the hardware buttons work. I don't think the digitizer works. So can this be done by connected the MHL adapter and maybe get a cable that I can connect a keyboard to the phone to enable usb debugging to root the phone, install and set up the droid mote server app and thats it? And what would I need to connect a keyboard to the phone?
