can you help me about building a cwm recovery for i569?
Sent from my GT-S5660
Well for sure you need Linux. You also need a lot of space on your Drive.
Is it for Stock or Custom Rom (Like CM7)
Try checking this out: Build a custom kernel and [HOWTO] Build custom kernel, libraries and applications on your own
Make sure you're using the right/recommended toolchain but if you pulled directly from the AOSP repo then i guess that's not your problem.
thank you for cwm recovery for 5660m but when I try to clear dalvik cache it reset back to home screen

This customization is much appreciated however I still have two bugs:
1- I can’t mount the sd-ext (I’m using ext2 partition for link2sd); everything else were mounted correctly (cache, system, data and SD )
2- In the last step of backup I had an error when trying to generate the md5 sum (error while generating md5 sum!)
Any thoughts?
Thanks

1- Weird.. Try checking the original post and ask for help there or search your problem there
2- Did you try backing up just once or multiple times? Try backing up more than once. I had same problem even without my mods. But i tried what I said above and it works. If it still doesn't work ask in the original thread also and/or search on google

It seems when I Backup on my own phone (without any fix yet), it seems to work!? Keep in mind I also have no SD EXT.

Peteragent5,
I just tested Nandroid backup with your CWM and ArpegGioMod 0.8 and I also get "error while generating md5 sum!". I tried it multiple times.
You mentioned that it works on your phone, but were you testing it with an EXT4 base system or RFS?
Nandroid backup with your CWM on a Ext4 system worked fine for me, but not RFS.

When i try to do format /data or davlik cache , i have this problem:
http://imagebin.org/207052
How to solve? Thank u
Is it rfs+ext4 variant of CWM? I remember switching to extonly after such issues. There's also a flashable ZIP around that formats everything - gio-all2ext4.
You can try.
Hi, i have flashed that .zip but the situation is the same... help please!!!
Maybe you could try v. 5.0.2.6. Everything works fine for me. Further ive no idea what to do :s

its in the cm7.1(!) thread, there you can still download px-cwm-v2.zip, it is v5.0.2.6
here it is:
http://www.mediafire.com/?p7r2bcn9447bpc8
however this version may give problems too, as this is the changelog from cwm v2:
Code:
New CWM v2
special thx to ZimniY
fix error mount command
remove rfs support
but also :
Code:
Based on particle's CWM Recovery, only add ext4 support for system, data & cache
\
but this one is working for me fine too, only sometimes after going from ext4 to rfs it gives problems, then flash 5.0.2.7 with ext4+rfs support..

Hi when i try "wipe data" or "format /data" i recive this error:
Wiping data...
Formatting / data...
Error mounting /data!
Skipping format...
I have tryed restore, i recive
E: format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/stl13
I can replace the file stl13 with that of a nexus S with ADB?
why? i have a CWM 5.0.2.7
Stock recovery and stock ROM are installed when you flash with Odin.
Files and folders in /dev are symbolic - they are created with Linux kernel's and services' startup. They cannot be copied and transferred.
Are you trying to restore ext4-based ROM within rfs+ext CWM? My experience says it's better to install ext-only CWM if you're going back to ext-based ROM.
Hi! i have CWM ext + rfs but i tryed flash ROM with Odin but don't work!
When i finish the flash ROM stock, i have connected my phone using ADB.
I have run:
"adb shell"
"cd system"
"ls -la"
but it's empty...
/data is empty ...
Why?
After you flash stock with Odin, "update" get's installed (the screen with opened paper box) and then it's stuck at bootlogo, you have to turn it off (quickest way: pull the battery off the phone) and turn it on in recovery mode (home + power button) and clean both data and cache to be sure. Then after reboot, stock will run.
If you want to switch back to ext-based ROM, install ext-only CWM (it will complain at startup about not being able to mount /cache), format all partitions (besides /sdcard and /sd-ext if you used it), mount /system and restore from backup.
It has to work.
Download CWM from phiexz - ext-only flashable from Odin.
I can't wipe data. I recive error:
E: format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/stl13
i have flash recovery ext only but i haven't solved
What have you exactly done that you messed it up so hard?
Tell me each thing you did. From the first, when you were still running stock.
I have flashed AOKP for Gio... it's OK... but after 30 minutes i have flashed a kernel...
i have run: wipe davlik and wipe cache partition...reboot and the phone goes in loop in the initial screen
I don't remember name of kernel... "delano-aokp-kernel"
Partition / data I think it is damaged
...
Quite strange to me what happenned. There are metods to repartition internal storage using GNU parted. I haven't ever tried it. I can't help you here. I only suspect something has tampered in partition table.
I got an error message at restoring Backup Rom.
E: format_volume: no MTD partition "userdata"

Please let me know how to resolve this error.

Need more info!
Why are you restoring?
Are you restoring same rom thats on it now?
What are you using to restore the rom?
any other info you think might be helpful!!
Sounds like it is unable to mount the data partition, if your using cwm try mounting data partition before trying restore. The partition has to be at least the same size as the original rom you made the backup from, Were you using any a2sd scripts?
etc..
I'm very sorry for not giving you full information, I'm a beginner.
1. Why are you restoring?
I installed cm9 fxp126 and - LT18i_4.1.B.0.431_(1254-2184).ftf, but this has some errors. So I troed to install Complete Xperia S Transformation - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727506, but this could not boot, and reboot continuously.
2. I mounted data at cwm.
3. About "a2sd scripts", I don't understand what it is.

Don't know about the layout for that rom but its always good to format any partitions before attempting a restore. Its a possibility that you have changed the layout in your nand. Try to install the new rom again. Let us know
To restore you're backup you will have to reset the same partition layout on your nand to the way it was before.

Are you sure you are flashing the correct boot.img for the rom?
The kernel is not loading if it is stuck on the android logo!!
While I'm not really in to modding android phones i have linux and cross-compiling experience and a samsung B7510. There Is litle or no support for modding this nice phone, and i just registered here to post about my success.
Using this tutorial here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398797&page=6) i managed to compile and repack boot.img with added ext4 support, and this hack to mount a second sdd partition as /data.
Maybe it would be god to add B7510 to supported phones there?
Then modified init patch from that tutorial (removed part that mounts second sdcard partition as /data) and installed link2sd fom android market,
and now a have full control over my apps, what goes where, and 1GB+ of storage space for them.
I'm writing this post from another pc, but if someone needs it I can upload modified boot.img packed and ready to flash with odin.
Please, upload modified boot.img packed and tutorial how to use it. :good:
thanks..
Sorry for my bad english.

A little howto:
Make sure your using latest gingerbread official firmware and have rooted your phone!!!
1: format (backup your files first) your sdcard to add a second ext4 formatted partition using tutorial here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning
2: download file from attachment (modified boot.img to support ext4), unpack it, flash that file with odin. If you don't know what i'm talking about here, stop following this because you will probably brick your phone...
3: install link2sd(Link2SD) from google play store.
4: on first link2sd launch select "ext4"
more about link2sd:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919326
With link2sd you can now, delete system apps like samsung bloatware, make other apps system apps, and most importantly "link" apps that can't normally be moved to sdcard like some games or facebook to your second sdcard partition and use them like they are on phone memory.
Now we got boot.img with ext4 support. The next step, for performance improvement, is to convert the stock ROM from rfs to ext4. And we need CWM recovery for B7510 too.
Anyone know how to convert rfs to ext4 easily?
The versions of CWM recovery for S5570, S5670 or S5830 are functionally working for B7510 but with display problem due to different screen resolution. I am learning to compile CWM recovery but haven't succeeded in producing a fully working one for B7510. My compiled versions of CWM recovery for B7510 boot up normally but further operations give me errors. I am still struggling to solve the problem.

Did you managed to install and get working CWM recovery more advanced than the 5.0.2.6 for the S5570?
I tried a 5.0.2.8 for the same device (but touch2 !!!) :installation was ok, but backup failed due to unability to mount the system
I just built a new CWM recovery from source and have it combined with stock kernel and ramdisk.
This image contains the kernel from Build 15.1.C.2.8 (dumped from C1905), the stock ramdisk, the CWM ramdisk and a custom root to select which system to boot.
Please backup your data before proceeding! I am not responsible for any data loss!
I've tried on my own Xperia M (C1905) and it can boot, but I haven't tried to restore a backup. You are warned! Not tested on C1904, but it should work though I cannot guarantee anything.
** You need unlocked bootloader to use this. Before you unlock the bootloader, you need to backup all your data and remove the SD card because everything will be deleted! **
Known problems:
If you mount /data, you cannot unmount it from the interface (the CWM code is designed to not allow unmounting it). You can, though, execute `adb shell umount /data` to unmount it if you really do need to.
(Only applicable to CWM 6.0.3.7) There is no "mount USB storage" (connect SD card to computer) function.
Install instructions (skip to step 5 if you already unlocked bootloader, rooted and installed busybox):
Install the latest Android SDK platform tools on your computer.
Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2457174
Backup TA partition: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598 (do this if you want to relock in the far future)
Unlock bootloader: All data will be lost! SD card will be formatted!
Download the attached zip and extract the boot image.
Power off your Xperia M, hold the Volume Up button and connect USB cable, release button when blue LED is on.
Execute:
Code:
fastboot flash boot combined-xperia-m-boot.img
Wait for it to show finished.
Disconnect USB cable.
Boot instructions:
Power off your Xperia M.
Power on by holding the power button. Your Xperia M should vibrate once like normal boot
Note that when the LED turns pink, press Volume Up once (no need to hold down).
LED should then turn cyan
You have booted into CWM!
Report bugs here!
Thanks:
CyanogenMod and ClockworkMod for obvious reasons[/url]
Also: Pack any Xperia M kernel with CWM
Check this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481864
Technical information:
The Xperia M doesn't have a recovery partition, therefore the recovery is packed into a boot image. There is an init script which checks whether it should boot into recovery, and if it should, the script will extract the recovery ramdisk and boot it. Otherwise it will extract the boot ramdisk and boot Android normally. The packer linked above is designed to pack the boot image.

Yeah, if whatever tool creates `/cache/recovery/boot` to trigger enter recovery, for once the script won't work because it didn't remove that file afterwards.
But I remember I've already fixed it in a previous version. Are you using the latest version?
Sorry about that. I was constantly fixing bugs and had released a few version of the CWM files. Even I myself may have messed up some files, so if you notice that the problem is still there in the newest version, please inform me of that.

But still, I haven't tested the restore function of this CWM yet, so if someone tried it please report back.

The internal storage is `sdcard0` and the external is `sdcard1`, while the USB storage is `usbstor0`. I am not sure how I am supposed to do that, I just referred to some other devices and that is what it seems to be, although none of the devices I've looked into actually has the internal storage.
I dug into the code a little bit and it seems that what I did should be fine, so I did it this way.
It may require some modifications before it can be used with CyanogenMod 10.2, but it currently works with CWM alone. It works anyway so I am going to stick with it at the moment.
plz provide for xperia m dual c2004..
thanks in advance.
