Hello!
I'm using JJ's Hybrid ROM and I am really enjoying it, very smooth. My only problem is the amount of ram I can free :\ at the moment the most free ram I can get is 155mb is this normal? My phone is now finding it hard to play 3d games without crashing and I am wondering if you have any tips of how to free ram

1) download task killer pro from the playstore install it and change it's settings to kill apps as soon as the screen is turned off
2)create partition on your sd card and install link2sd that will transfer your apps and processes from inbuilt storage to sd card..
3)the crashing must be due to the amount of cache(correct me if i am wrong)hence download cache2sd and install it
4)freeze unwanted apps from link2sd
hit thans if i helped

1) Doesn't help. Certain apps start themselves automatically again and then task killer kills again and they start again etc. Starting an app uses more battery than leaving it running, so using task killer results in low battery life. Leave all the taskkilling to Android itself and use V6 Supercharger.
2) That has nothing to do with RAM.
3) Crashing is due to amount of cache? How can that affect it? Besides, reading cache from SD is a lot slower than from internal memory.
4) That will help indeed. Make sure not to freeze required system apps.

It's fairly straightforward, jj's rom should already have the modded jar, just download the script and run it with script manager. Option 6(512mb)should be ideal.

Thanks I just ran v6 supercharger but I didn't really understand it apart from when I set the min free numbers... (I selected option 6 )
It hasn't really changed anything and the amount of free ram I can have hasn't increased :/ is there Anything else you could suggest?

Hello all,
first I'm sorry for my poor english. I will do my best.
I have my Xperia Play since 1 month and I have change the SD card from 8 to 32 Go. I have many place to stock all the things and the RAM free is great. But the intern memory is less than 24 Mo when it's started.
I have install and use App to SD to do the best but there is the same problem.
How to please to have more free intern memory ? (it's a problem when I must download a think from android market and install an update for example).
Thanx.
Heads up, internal memory and RAM are the same thing in android. So I'm not really sure what you're asking since you say RAM is fine but internal memory isn't....

How can Ram and internal memory be the same thing? I have 270mb free memory but often low on ram when open too many apps
Anyways OP, you can look up on the Dalvik hack, not sure whether you need rooted phone or not..

He's talking about internal storage, not internal "memory".
Try rooting the phone and getting rid of bloatware. Also, some roms take up less space than others. I found there is more internal storage after the updates.

Because Ram and memory is the same thing! Storage or disk space has nothing to do with memory.

Guys you're arguing semantics here. The guy stated English wasn't his first language and he's quite clearly talking about internal storage, especially when he mentioned his SD card. Quit arguing about the difference between memory and storage.

TS, try to use link2sd, but before you use that you need to root your device and create a partition of your sd card..

I'm assuming he already did the zergrush or the gingerbreak.
I tried upgrading my system with Link2SD installed (CM7 nightly), but after I done that, every application that has been previously linked to SD, is invisible to the sytem. I am only left with generic android shortcuts that don't work.
I tried reinstalling boot scripts, quick rebooting - nothing worked.
I cannot afford reinstalling system from scratch every time I upgrade it, because I have too many things installed. This has never been a problem when I was using DT A2SP.
I hope someone can help me with that, unless the only way to do that is to go back to DTA2SD.
Have an ext partition. Flash CM7. Download S2E app on Google play. Configure S2E settings, Reboot.
via xda app
Why s2e? Is it better than Link2SD or DTap2SD? And if so, why is it better?
I believe s2e is specifically designed for cm7. It is very easy to install and configure. I've been using it for a while now and have not had any problems. DL from market and give it a try ;-)

Because it works. Its fool proof and flexible unlike Dark Tremor you can move back things around with ease (provided that there is still enough space on the phone).

How is DT less flexible? As far as I can see, S2E has the same options, minus swap and zip align that DT has.
S2E can move application data if you want to. I can't remember if DT has that feature as well.

Hey
I have a few apps on my SD card and this morning at random I recieved the "low on space" Message in my notifications area
It is driving me crazy and wondering why this could be as I have 41MB free.
I am rooted with the bootloader unlocked and I have not installed any app for a few days at least.
I have the add more space mod maybe this is just eye candy rather than actual space freed up.
Other than being rooted and bootloader unlocked I have stock .62 firmware with only reboot mod and some fonts replaced etc
If it is still there tomorrow evening I will just reflash my firmware however I would rather not need to
Thanks in advance,
Jinx13

Your phone is rooted and unlocked. Theres a way to format a partition on your sd to act like a internal memory. May that helps. Google it, i have seen a guide before

You can use tb and integrate some apps into ROM.
I use root explorer to check the space in system, then use titatium backup to move apps as system apps then push to ROM.

If you mean can you still use them and update them then yes.....I have flash player, gmail, maps and other apps I cant remember I pushed to Rom and they still update ok.
By doing this you get extra internal space.

so you mean its a normal error? is alpha 5 is more stable then 7 ?
also when i was on cm7, i made fat16/32 ext partition and used link2sd software to connect to ext, so do i need to format and remake the partition or the apps will work just fine " after restoring with the help of My backup Pro?? (i have made backup of apk and data)
i do have nandroid backup as well, i haven't restored any nandroid so i suppose it will restore the os (cm7) as well?
Another thing, on cm9 i have installed link2sd and linked to ext parttion, when i install new apps, a notification comes along that it can be moved to sd card, but when i press move to sd, it doesnt move and still takes space from internal phone space.

I don't find any trouble with CM9 Alpha 7(I don't use videos much). It's working fine and a geat speedy ROM.
You really don't need to move the apps to SD Card, Just make links for application, Dalvic-cache and Lib files.
Have you enabled 'Auto Link' option on Link2sd settings? If enabled it won't ask, but will simply link with sd card and install the apps.

I don't know what is causing that, but you could try to move them to phone memory, then move them to sd again. Try with normal way (from settings-apps) or with link2sd.
Maybe android.secure folder is deleted. You have backup?
