recently my gmail app has been stopping my hox sleeping, and causing battery to drain a lot quicker than normal.

i've tried removing the google account and signing back in
tried removing google account, then clearing data/cache for the gmail app then signing back in
tried just clearing the data/cache for gmail
only use the default sync settings, which always worked fine before..
haven't tried a factory reset yet, purely as its a pain in the ass setting everything up again.
i'm running stock 1.29.161.13 (vodafone uk branded)
any ideas?
bump
it started happening on my desire hd as well.
turns out the problem is the latest update (possibly just the ics version) that doesn't work. i uninstalled the updates on both phones, and now it works fine

Hi all,
I'm having an issue where i can't download anything from the market. It just stuck when starting download. I even left apps trying to download overnight - and still nothing.
I already cleared data from all the possible places: download manager, market, google apps, etc. Everything else works fine. I have access to the internet, gmail, gtalk, Gmaps. I killed a task killer, powered off a few times and all the same
I'm running stock, version 003.
What are my options? Please help.
I had that problem with my G1 on TMO, but it hasn't been an issue with my EVO and Sprint. It could be poor service. Have you tried it over WiFi?

What account did you set up for your google account? I had this problem when I first got my phone because I did not use a gmail account. I figured a google account was good enough.
It isn't.
I'd start with troubleshooting your default mail account on phone. Your gmail must be your default. And...lucky...if it isn't...you get to do a factory reset.
That is what I had to do. Lesson learned.
thanks guys, i think i fixed it.
I killed startup auditor and started google talk. Now all works fine. I never had GTalk running and never had any issues with the market. I guess i let gtalk eat my battery life from now on..... Unchecking autosign in doesn't help. It always shows in the running apps.
Hey.
I just had to hard reset my Desire because FriendStream messed up & kept force closing.
Now its all back & restored everythings fine except facebook.
When i try to update the news feed i get the message
"An error acoured while trying to fetch data [nul]"
Also... It no longer gives me my facebook contacts in my phone book, all i have is my google contacts, ive tried re-syncing & clearing data, uninstalling, re-installing but nothing seems to fix it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Currently a know problem with either facebook or Facebook for HTC Sense

My Problem:
All was working fine but after some time (maybe one thing caused it) my unit began not syncing all Apps automatically. it started with Facebook, then email, then a parcel tracking App.
I now have to manually sync the App to get the new data on my phone. Automatically he does only update SOME Apps / tasks now.
For Expample, he does update 1 of my 3 pop mail accounts automatically but the other 2 are only updated when I click on update manually (settings are 30 min on all 3).
I tried delete and enter the account, Deleting the regarding App and reinstalling (e.g. facebook), Deactivate and reactivate the autosync feature, restarting between it and so on.... Nothing works but reinstalling the phone from Scratch.
I had the normal HTC Rom on my phone earlier, now using the Revolution ROM. This issue is NOT Rom related since it came up with both roms!
What might be the reason? What can I do to fix that? Is there a Cace to clear or any Sync Data that I can try to reset?
Any Idea what might cause this and how to fix?
Well , I think it's rom related.. My apps also just get synced with RCMIX Runny.. On all the other roms i won't get a sync..
But I had the same issue before with the standard HTC rom before I even rooted it, so I doubt that.
Any Idea what service is doing the sync action for all the apps? I would like to try deleting the cache of it as well as the data and see if this helps but I can't find what service does this so I can't try this solution.
Nobody able to help? Please!
I'm having a problem restoring my push notifications on the Facebook app when I switch between ROMs on my GS3.
I have Paranoid Android installed now, and I previously had the latest AOKP build. I backed up the AOKP build via the recovery, then flashed PA, restored apps from Titanium, and here I am. But.. no Facebook notifications! I tried logging out and back into the FB app to "reregister" the device with the Google Cloud Messaging service or whatever, in order to hopefully restore the notifications, but no dice! I also disabled and re-enabled notifications within the FB app.
Strange thing is if I restore my AOKP backup, then I get flooded with all of the old notifications from FB!
Other apps seem to work fine for push notifications -- Gmail, WhatsApp, Google Voice, even Facebook Messenger. It's just the app itself doesn't seem to like to notify me unless I go back to AOKP.
Anybody experience anything like this?
It's happened to me before, did you dirty flash? I went from one rom to another without a factory reset by accident, usually do it. But most everything worked fine except for the facebook app messages so I ended up just uninstalling and reinstalling the facebook app and it worked! I eventually did factory reset my device though just incase there were other issues I hadn't yet come across.
Silly me... I just uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and that did the trick! I assumed logging out and back in was as good as uninstalling and reinstalling, but I guess not!
I did do a clean flash initially, with wiping everything.
Thanks for the idea!:good:
As of two days now, the syncing symbol is permanently on and draining the battery like crazy. I don't know why is it trying or failing to sync constantly. I'm on Android 5.0.1 Sense 6. Rooted completely stock. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

PS. I tried clearing Google play services cache, the symbol disappeared but reappeared after opening Google settings. Uninstall updates button is inactive. Sorry that was meant to be edit but I pressed the wrong button in the app
Problem solved. It was MSN account on gmail app. After removing the account, the constant syncing stopped
