Is there a way to force a galaxy nexus in landscape mode, tablet mode? Do it is like a mini tablet: soft keys when in landscape at the bottom, etc
Thanks

i think there's a cleaner way to do it, but i think if you change dpi to 160 or 175 (through build.prop for example), it will change automatically to tablet mode.
Paranoid Android and AOKP B3 has this feature.

For AOKP it's under the general UI heading, towards the bottom of the menu...

Paranoidandroid Settings under the Settings tab.
You can find the visual guide here.
And in a custom rom you can go to settings-display-rotation and only set it to 90 or 270 and ur phone will stay in landscape. That paired with paranoid android as previously linked would give you a great little mini tab.

Search "tablet mode" in the market for free app.
I was wondering if we could somehow enable soft keys to pop up when the S pen was removed from the phone? I know there is an app that you can use gestures for the S Pen, however using soft keys on the bottom when the S pen was pulled out would be an awesome feature.

I bet it could be done with tasker. Ill give it a shot.

last time someone brought this up the quick gesture option built in was given as a good replacement of soft menu....but i could see tying a soft key app to the pen extraction being do_able..like the memo pop up option

Hi
I saw this method on how to enable soft-keys mod .
Here we go.
navigate to system/build.prop
go to the bottom of the page ( document )
add this line
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
save
reboot
check
Peace

this worked for me, but do you know of a way to disable the hardware keys so that the software ones are the only thing that works?
namely the hard home key the post answered menu and back

comment out lines on /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl, like so...
Code:
# key 158 BACK
# key 172 HOME
# key 139 MENU
physical home button, however, will still wake up the device (which i prefer) and long pressing on it will bring up s-/google- voice. if you wish otherwise, you can disable it altogether by editing the line on gpio-keys.kl (same directory as above)...
Code:
# key 172 HOME WAKE
then turn off lights via settings/display/touchkey light duration. works on both ics and jb sammy roms. HTH

I understand how to change build.prop to take advantage of enabling and disabling the soft keys. However I was wondering if maybe one of our smart devs would be able to incorporate it into a rom, so the soft keys are disabled when the Spen is in the phone, but then enabled when the Spen is taken out. This would be a a sick feature!!!

Well if you're on a cm10 ROM, go into settings and assign the long press menu function to "voice search" and then I'll mod the apk to add the ability to launch it from holding the menu button.

Haha yeah it's not possible in touchwiz. I believe the long press menu function acts as a regular search button single press. I'm certain that could be changed but I'm not sure I never ran touchwiz. what version of floating note do you have?

I am on CM10 and was able to change my long press menu button to function as long press search. If you can get me your android.policy.jar file i should be able to change it. it might take some time though im not 100 percent sure what to change.

Am I the only one that can't add more pages to the homescreen? I've tried dragging icons and widgets to the right, but seems like I'm limited to the one main page and the google now section to the left.
