This problem just started today but it's annoying. I'm playing the Usher, Trey Songz, Keith Sweat stations and it plays rock music every other song. Rock has nothing to do with the genre R&B. I have nothing against rock but today is a smooth day for me and Pandora is ruining the mood.
It's trying to tell you to listen to better music
Yeah well Coldplay shouldn't be playing in the Usher station. I listen to Rock but I'm not feeling it today. It's just annoying that every other song is a rock song.
listen to some real music

Ahh everyone already beat me to it.
I find Pandora's algorithms dubious at best. I use it mostly for electronic music and it does a horrible job. Gives me trance or even happy hardcore when the station is a minimal techno DJ, other stuff like that. Since they claim that the algorithms actually compare the quantifiable metrics that define a music style, I find it surprising that it does such a poor job at comparing music that is typically so easy to compartmentalize into subgenres.
Also a random thought but I would love to be able to use SubSonic (which streams your own music collection from your desktop) along with a Pandora-like algorithm shuffle to play my own music, shuffled, of a certain style. Sounds dumb but I literally have more music than I could listen to in my lifetime (ok, maybe not literally) and I would love to be able to "discover" some of that music without the crappy Pandora bitrate or the ads.
Why don't you folks try using the thumb up / thumb down buttons to tune the station song choices?

Every few weeks, Pandora seems to inject the database with a huge stack of new music. (New as in, they didn't have it before, not new as in recently recorded.)
Rock may not be R&B, but maybe the backing sound of the track is why someone added tags that caused the engine to play that particular song.
I've been a Pandora user for years and my channel list has been maxed at 100 for as long as I can remember. I use the thumbs up/down buttons a lot and I've got the system trained pretty well for my use. But every so often some track will sneak in where I ask "..the hell did that one come from?"
I always hit thumbs down but the same song plays the next day. I took me over 20 skips yesterday to actually hear a song from Usher. I was wanting to listen to "DJ got us falling in love" and it never played. I ended up DL'ing it through Music Junk.
Pandora isn't a playlist application in that it usually can't be targeted to play a specific track. Because if you ask for a certain track, it will just consider it a seed and build a new station around it.
Setting a track to thumbs down should make it so you never hear it again. Odd that you would. Unless the free version is acting strangely.
Along with thumbs down, you can also choose the "don't play this track again for a month" in the song menu. Then you definitely won't hear it again, at least for a few weeks.
Sounds like you'd be better off with Slacker or Finetune so you can build a specific playlist.
I've been trying for days to get the defy to work i want.
I listen to audiobooks, music and podcasts, and I need to be able to control it from the headset
I tried default player, google listen, winamp, doggcatcher. And cant get the thing to work right!!
Music+ doesn't even register the button press, listen resumes and skips to next track, even if you're playing another audio in the background. Winamp on its own is fine but does not download podcasts, and doggcatcher has conflicts with winamp on the headset thing.
Has anyone find a good solution for this? it seems just the way android is built, and the lack of a good unified media player (with or integrated with podcast manager).
Such a disappointment... I was so looking for having an android phone! If I can't find a solution, it seems its not for someone like me untill they integrate things a little more tightly.
Well, it's not the Defy. And while I don't think that Android sucks at playing media I do agree with some of your points. I also listen to audio books and podcast. For the moment I'm using AudioBook Player 2 for audiobooks. It's not prefect by a long shot but it does the job. As for podcast I haven't found anything useful yet. The defaut player is suppose to play podcast but there is no way to skip through. If I have to stop listening to the podcast there is no way of getting back to were I left off. And while the device obviously play videos, and does so quite well, I haven't found any type of video player interface. The only way I can start a video is by going into the gallery and taping on the file I want to play. That dosen't seem right to me.
So yeah, I feel your frustration.

Yes, sorry. I did not meant to bash, its just that I soo wanted to love it... and I don't, and if there is no good solution I think android is not for my for now. I don't know. It has so many great things!
Thanks for your suggestions I'll look into it.
On another subject : When I listen to music, I can't do anything else (switching to landscape mode e.g.), otherwise it's really slow.
Is anybody else having that bug ? Some guy here mentioned it. But he then said he fixed it without having it deodexed. How do you fix this ?
Meridian is a media player that does most of what you want, with the possible exceptin of podcasting (don´t use it, don´t know).
It remembers where you last listened to a track, and if you switch to video (which has a library of it´s own) it still remembers where in the audio track you were when you go back to that. So actually better than WMP there... ;-)
Only thing that grinds my gears with this is an annoying bug that starts a random track when I press the button on any wired headset. If I hang up a call, or if I want to pause and then start playing in Spotify or radio, Meridian starts playing a tune in the background. I thought it was a bug I was having with my Pulse, but it´s there with the Defy as well.
A BT headset has none of these issues though.
Don't worry google is working on a multimedia improvement......soooonnnn soon, also has anyone tried poweramp
So i bought my wife a tablet for school. However we keep hearing this crackling sound/popping sound coming from the speaker when playing youtube videos, playing games such as jungle heat. It is really annoying because when we are watching videos we can hear the sound. If anyone could help us, I really appreciate it. This is the 3rd time we exchange this device but the result is still the same. I dont know if its just me. Thank You!
Can you post some music or a movie from youtube where you ARE sure you hear a lot of crackling? Just so we can check it out ourselves?
I have yet to experience this at all. It is weird if you have had that issue on 3 devices now. Do you have bass boosts or equalizer on?

Give me a youtube movie or clip of music. Not your recording mate. Just something original that makes it pop. A name of a song or a video. Doesn't matter. Do the people you talk about have the same tablet as you? Or random?

ok no problem
If it is a hardware issue then Samsung should repair it if it is within the year warranty. Best buy should cover it if it is pretty new as well.
Are you running stock System? Have you checked to make sure you are up to date? Install Kies3 on your computer and see if it finds any updates.

I don't hear any popping or crackling sounds from my tab pro 8.4 I have tested with its internal Speakers, The Headphone jack, and using a bluetooth headset / headphones.
Does it have this problem when you plugin headphones or is it only the speakers? if it does it on all audio outputs then its most likely some kind of interference happening first try the headphone jack which is analog like the speakers.., bluetooth is digital with a2dp so it probably won't happen on that (though this could also be a temporary solution to use bluetooth external speaker or headphones)-
If it is interference then you need to find the source and hope it is coming from your own house , best way to find interference is to either unplug everything you can find or go to the house circuit breaker box and switch off the main switch this will turn off all electric in your house then use the tablet and play back a video /audio you have saved to the internal memory and see if it still happens.
Many people have this problem (including me). Any time the app you are using has something that emits sounds (even if you have muted your sound), you can hear crackling based on how heavy the CPU is working. It is most likely interference coming from the CPU. Not much anyone can do about it, except for Samsung. It would probably need a rework of the components though, that's why a simple replacement of the speakers will most likely not work. As soon as you put something in your 3.5mm jack though, the crackling should stop. (Most likely because the speakers get turned off physically instead of just being digitally muted) So really, the best we can hope for is we can find someone who may be able to create an app that emulates the headphone jack being used whenever the sound is muted. At least the crackling stops when the sound is muted then.

I've been experience a few issues with the new update. One of them, which is more a nuisance than anything, is my bluetooth connection to my car. It's a 2015 Mustang with MyFord Touch. The phone is a galaxy S8+. About 1/3 of the time when I start the car, the phone shows up named a bunch of random characters, instead of Galaxy S8+. Not a huge deal. My music player starts automatically (even if I close it, and kill the process). The thing that's weird is that the audio is kind of hollow sounding when it starts up UNTIL I turn on the phones display, then it kicks into a fuller sound. It's never done this before. Not only that, but it decides when it wants to display track information from Samsung music player only a small portion of the time.
If I'm playing music through Amazon Music, it updates the track information, no problem. If I switch to Samsung's music player, it just displays the last track I played on Amazon music, and never changes. If I start the car with the music player going, it won't update track information until it gets to the next song, and even that is spotty.
Aside from these issues, and the issues I'm having with the default browser, I think it's a pretty good update. But this music thing is really bugging me. For the record, I've tried rebooting the phone. I've tried changing through the AVRCP versions in the developer options, I've toggled Dolby Atmos on and off, changed the sample rate, channels, etc. Nothing seems to be affecting this problem.
On a side note, how do I close the music player so it doesn't automatically start playing when connected to bluetooth?
Thanks in advance. If this doesn't belong here, let me know.

Did you ever try to update your car's firmware or going to your dealer and ask for it? I think it's because Android 9 is "too new" for your car
I updated to the latest firmware about 6 months ago. No new updates since then. It would be kinda bogus if android 9 made a 4 year old car obsolete, but i suppose it's possible.

It could be possible that you have to expect for a new car firmware or ask to your device forum if anyone else have your same problem with android auto
Good call. I'll pop the question over to my mustang forum. Thanks.

Hi guys,
I would like to know your opinion. I'm currently using YouTube music on my watch, which is pretty decent but I was wondering how Spotify performs in the pixel watch. I only tried it a couple of days and not sure which one is better in the wear os. I like Spotify but had the feeling that YouTube music wear os is better (I use the pixel watch to listen to music a lot when training).
What do you think?
Hi,
Both Spotify and YouTube Music are popular music streaming services that are available on the Wear OS platform. Both apps are functional on the Pixel Watch and offer similar features such as offline playback, the ability to create playlists and control playback using the watch. However, in terms of performance, it really comes down to personal preference. Spotify is known for its vast library of songs, while YouTube Music offers a large number of official music videos, live performances and covers. You may prefer one over the other depending on the type of music you listen to and the features that are most important to you. I suggest trying out both apps for a longer period of time to see which one better suits your needs.
Thanks for your reply. In terms of the service itself I like Spotify but I have the feeling that the YT music app for wear os perform better, not sure if Im right.
Sorry for the late reply, but I might be able to help here. Main differences that I have seen is spotify has more control, you can also change playlists on other devices while YT music. Also if you have now playing on your watch face, such as me, it will show the album art on the watch face while spotify does not do that. I personally like spotify more, and reply to me if you want screenshots.
(Edit): I haven't seen as much storage combustion with both, but spotify seems to be better with storage. That shouldnt be a problem though, I have the 500 song max for dynamic songs on yt music and every single playlist i have, adding up to around 400 songs. At the moment YT music takes up around 2Gb while spotify takes up around 1.3GB. I haven't noticed any music quality depreciation with my WF-1000XM4s and my WH-1000XM2s, but for some reason the Bluetooth isint the great with my WF-1000XM4s and it sounds kind of garbled. I have no idea if someone would be able to help me with this. It has recently gone away though.
I'll give you my experience with Spotify as I don't use YT music.
My issues with Spotify and the watch are:
Due to the Watch shutting down WiFi when connected to the phone, the app must be open on your phone or it will fail to find other playback devices you might be using or want to use unless they are in BT range.
Nearly impossible to search or create playlists due to the small keyboard which is almost impossible to use. Voice Command is you only real option.
If you pause a playlist from the watch it does sometimes resume playback on the watch instead of the device that was playing when you paused.
I think a lot of this has to do with the Watch shutting down WiFi whenever a BT connection is present. And I hope and wish Google will eventually allow us to override this battery saving feature when needed so that the Watch can control any device connected via WiFi without having to go through the phone to detect devices.
Thread lightly cleaned.
