So after the pass couple of months I've been getting battery drains, for example losing 1% after 5 minutes while on standby and had to charge every night
Last night I was out for a long long time and the battery drained with normal usage until I hit 18% (with about 14 hours off the charger) and it stayed there for quite a while. I was sending texts, outputing music in my car, using the GPS/Maps and the battery stayed at 18%. Was using data and brightness was around 25%.
I've been wiping battery stats every week, I don't know why but I got in the habit after this battery drain issue.
Is there any way to fix this? Probably not :S
Wish I knew, man. My PLAY stays on 100% for a REALLY long time, then drops much more quickly once it finally gets to 99%

all your claims happen to me, too. and i think they're normal.
I would suggest 2 things.
Stop wiping the stats first. You dont need to do this anymore. Your stats level out tge more it is used. Just do full charge/discharge for a week.
Second would be to look for a rogue app running in the background.

happen to me after restoring from nandroid backup, battery is not discharging, it charging instead, even when i didn't plugged it to ac adapter,
fixed the problem after wiping battery stats & re-calibrate battery by totally drain it and full-re-charge after. Also defined battery capacity using Battery Widget,
Mine stays at 100% for a long time too, then drains fast till around 90% and work ok after that i guess.

I think the battery ie 20% n after u left it, it move a bit say 23%, that is coz of the oc'd u've been doing. Each frequency hav diff volt. So the more u use the more it pulls. And when u finally let it down the un-wanted un-necessary volt is return back to the batt. So its normal. Its like a rubber bend or something similar. More tension means more power, when there's less tension it revert back to its form with a bit lost of physicality. Hope y'all understand what i'm getting at. The phone batt indicator is correct. U should always watch ur oc frequency. Hope thats explains everything

After unplugging?
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk
My battery life has always been pretty sh**ty even b4 all this phone hacking and crazy apps..
Currently it takes me aroune 10 to 15 mins to drop to 90%... but that maybe just a bad batt app reading..
nevertheless I cant go a whole day without charging once or twice...
I carry my charger with me everywhere.
How people get 3 days with this phone is beyond me... Maybe its bcuz I love to use my phone mostly as an ipod.
from 6 am to 2 pm still above 90. (in school, airplane) actually sitting at 67 right now and unplugged at 530 am.
OMG.... Teach me your ways... What are you running? Any Custom rom? Do you like not use many widgets? Or is it simply cuz you barely touched your phone all day?.... lol even i did that just idle sitting it would probably be 1/2 batt in like 4-5 hours

no special batteries or rom. everything stock. my clock speeds are stock i just undervolt. 300/17,600/31,800/42. might not work for everyone but im not a power user and dont play many games. thats what the game boy is for after all
Me too having the same problem and I am on stock rom and indian firmware and battery sucks and motoversion is 2.59.0 have lots and of games n apps but I have only rooted the phone with superoneclick hope you people can provide a solution for getting a better backup and yes I have even tried calibrating the batter but no use at all still I get the same problem battery draining and drains completely within 9 to 10 hrs even after minimal usage!!!!

Same for me. Since Moto only shows 10% changes you have to let it charge a good hour before unplugging when you see it's at 100%. It will show at 100% when the charge gets to 95%, so you could be losing 5% charge right there. I'm using the 1% display app from another thread around here, and I only unplug it when that app shows 101% charge. As soon as I unplug it, it drops to 99%, but lasts from 99% to 90% for about 7 or 8 hours if I don't really play with it. My usual discharge is 1% an hour. The phone/battery is programmed to not overcharge, so even if you leave it charging for 24 hours, as soon as you unplug it, it will drop to 99% instantly.
U mean motocharge app?
It always stops at 100% for me, never goes over
one thing noticed today... uptime was 2days 10hours and something ...and i had 1% battery left on motocharge ...and it took me forever to discharge that last percent
I did full brightness, full volume on music that was playing, turned on wifi and BT and played angry birds meanwhile ...and it took me like 30minutes to burn down that last percent of the battery, so Im guessing it isnt calibrated right

No. This one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930457
Sorry wrong link corrected.
battery life drains out pretty quickly... i'd say it drops below 90% after an hour or so. one example would be 9am-2pm with texting, whatsapp-ing and the occassionally surfing, and i'm down to 30-40% batt life.
i think the major draining app would be those that run data in the background, coz i was in japan recently (data turned off while roaming) and a full day 9am-12am and i was hovering around 70-8x%.
Hey I've read on other forums about these battery calibration apps and whatnot, just want to know if anyone has used them and know if they really do work? The wife and I both have the Dinc2 and i loaded andybonestock on both of our phones.. i use my phone like crazy and she barely uses hers. i put drellis's 21 on and UV 50 and within 15 min off the charger i'm down at most to 98 battery and she's already down to 90. her battery drains rediculously faster than mine and they're both the same exact rom's and kernel specs. Will these app's actually work or is there a real/better way to get hers working better?
Use battery calibration from the market and follow the instructions to a T. Her battery could also be defective. Try the calibration first though.
that's what i'm trying to do. I have it charging right now, at 84% then im going to run it.. just wanted to know if there was any proof it worked or any other option
I left my inc2 get charge to 100% and then use the battery calibration,i notice that my battery goes down from 100% to 97% in just 5second,the battery life is good after goes to 97%,but im not sure why goes down to 97% that fast.

Just a heads up, that is normal, your battery will never stay at 100% it doesn't charge to 100% unless you bump charge it (and that is bad for your actual battery). Having it drop anywhere from 97% to 92% is common, after that you will notice a substantial slowdown in battery drain unless you are heavily using the phone.
I added a picture of my battery life as an example of the length I am getting from the ICS Rom I'm currently using. I have my phone oc'd to 1.4ghz and uv -25 across the board. This screenshot was taken after a day full of phone calls ranging between 3 minutes and 20 minutes, moderate browser usage, moderate facebook usage and lots of texting.
Ya I knew it wouldn't stay at 100 at all but like how mine would be at 97 after 15min and hers at 90.. it just didn't add up.. she rarely used her phone and only had about 6 hours of charge, while my battery with excessive use had enough battery to last me about 16 hours. I reset battery stats and then bump charged her phone. Now its fine

careful on bump charging, it decreases the life of the battery itself everytime you do it.

Charging to 100% and then powering off and charging again IS bump charging, that is bad for your battery itself, it takes away life on the actual battery everytime you do it. I said this above. You may be getting an extra half hour to an hour out of your batterys life but you are decreasing the amount of times it can actually hold a charge each time you do that, therefore ruining your battery for a tiny bit of extra battery life per charge.

The smoking analogy doesn't really relate, smoking can kill you but doesn't always, bump charging for a fact decreased the longevity of your battery hence shortens the time before it does not hold a charge anymore and you have to buy a new one. I made a factual comment, I did not need a condesending response.

I started running into some battery issues earlier today. I was on AOKP without any issues and one day the battery just started draining very fast. I went from about 50% to 15% in a matter of an hour. That night I slept with my phone charging and it did to get charged passd 54%. And it's charging very slow too. I thought it might be the ROM so I flashed Slim Bean. But it is not heling at all.
Anyone have anything similar going on?
What can I do?

Well it's been charging for about 6 hours now and it won't get past 54%
I let it charge all night and when I woke up it was finally at 100%. I left for class and unplugged my phone at 7:40. 20 minutes later it was down to 47%. Then another 2 hours later, it was at 11%. Obviously it is draining far too fast. Will AT&T replace my battery? Or does it look like I'm gonna have to buy a new one?
What I normally do is charge it to 100% then boot into recovery and wipe battery stats. Reboot and don't unplug the phone until it again says that the battery is full. Then run with it and see if it helps.
Go ask them I don't see why they wouldn't replace the battery, it does sound like its shot that kind of drain isn't normal at all
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
I had the same issues with not getting to 100%. Seems like leaving it on the charger for another couple hours (overnight) got it there.
So I went to the AT&T service shop yesterday and she took my battery and put it in a different Galaxy S III and it showed the battery was charged 97%. In my phone, it showed 23%. She told me that it had somthing to do with my phone being rooted. She said the software on my phone was being "tricked" into believing that the battery is a lot less full than it actually is. She told me to unroot my phone and flash it back to stock. So I did that yesterday and it is still no better. I don't know what to try.

mrb1946,
Even though your S3 is reporting percentage values as you stated....the PHYSICAL battery did not drain from a real 100% to a real 47% in 20 minutes. It can't actually physically drain that fast. It would be on FIRE! So, either the calibration of the rom/software or the battery itself somehow messed up.
Also, during that time...was the battery/S3 HOT? That physical evidence would account for some of the drain if it's coming from a rogue app or misbehaving rom component. Did you post a battery drain graph? And were you monitoring the cpu activity during these high drain periods? I mean...periodic checks to see if your CPU is stuck on HIGH freq and if you have any wakelocks shown under the battery graph.
If this problem is still occurring, here's a thread explaining a possible drain from android system. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827087&highlight=android+system
On my E4GT, this has happened on multiple roms and persists through wiping battery stats. Is my battery drops very fast, just 30% in ~20 minutes this morning listening to music. But then while it sits in my pocket, asleep, the battery crawls up from ~70 back up to ~90 over the course of a half-hour or so. How can I fix it or is my battery just starting to go? Also after a reboot the battery will drop like 30-40%, then slowly crawl back up.
Sounds like the battery is either on its way out (check for bulges) or just very poorly calibrated. One of my batteries did the slowly crawling up thing even when it was brand new.

Okay, well, since wiping battery stats did not help. I felt it and can't really tell if it's swelling, I think it may be a little. Is turning it off all the way, then charge without stopping the charge the only way to calibrate it?

To check for swelling lay battery on table.. Spin.. (both sides) if it spins like a top.. It's bad. Easiest way to tell, and not an uncommon problem.
Wiping battery stats does nothing. This phone automatically wipes battery stats at 100% charge.

This has to do with the way ICS reads you battery %. If it is going up on it's own then the % it tells you is just wrong. There is not much you can do to fix it except don't flash things all the time. It usually will happen when you are flashing things.
The battery being bad is also an option but I have never seen it go up on it's own when the battery is bad.

So here's my problem:
About few weeks ago, my battery started to fooling with me. When I use it for Facebook, Twitter and normal web surfing, the battery goes down, fast, from 100% to 10% took only about one hour plus. Then I left it aside. Check it again after 30 minutes, the battery went up to 27%. So I think battery was miscalibrated so I tried to calibrate the battery using all the guides I can find on the net for weeks but none worked.
So what should I do? Should I change a new battery?
Did u try calibrate it properly, eg.. wait till its charged fully then wipe them. using an app from playstore is the best way. If u wipe stats when its not charged100% then it will start jumping percentages.

Well try to underclock it and make the screen brightness lowest. Try to look at the battery stats too as you may have an app which is using a lot of resources of your phone. If you can live without your phone then switch it off completely, try to find the charger with highest mAh output (the higher the mAh output is the quicker it is charging), connect your turned off phone to the charger, make sure it's charging, leave it for 2 days charging like this and then disconnect it, boot it straight to the recovery, wipe the battery stats from recovery. If this is not going to help then I seriously have no idea what else you can do.

Phone's not overclocked, brightness is always low, I used it for texting my gf for whole day, played word search for a while and my phone left 50%, no data no WiFi nothing, When I turned on WiFi and keep using it, battery drops fast. Reached 4% I left it, went back to 16%, continue using, left 4 % again, left it again went back to 10%, then I used it till 4% again, now left 6%. Using stock charger but with different cable since my stock cable is broken. Is that related? If yes I'm going to get a new charger.
