I've tried oxygen before and i think nothing can beat that rom but i decided to flash CM 7.2 RC3 due to theme chooser but i don't find it buttery smooth. DO you guys have any suggestion about making it as smooth as possible? launcher? scripts? anything?
Can't see where you got CM 7.2 RC3.
There's CM 7.2 RC2.
But why go for the RC versions if you have the final 7.2 stable version available?
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=ace&type=stable
RC3 is here but i'll give the stable version a try...is anyone else using CM7.2 might want to tell me about some tips to make it buttery smooth? because when i pull down notification bar, it sometime lags which gets annoying...

I ran both rc2 and rc3 a while back. I don't recall having that lag. I even installed the mxhome launcher from the store on rc3 with no issues. Perhaps redownloading and flashing again?

using the stable version and it is much better than RC3...but now i've tried ADW launcher, zeam launcher and a couple of others but application drawer lags...I'm looking for a launcher with transparent background but can't find any since i've been on ICS and Sense roms for too long xD
Any suggestions about these?

Sorry bub, no idea. I usually keep my roms stock. Perhaps you could mod one? Perhaps there is a tool for it....? not sure.

Is there a stock Gingerbread launcher that's NOT the one in the market? I am running CM7. I don't care for ADW so I downloaded the GB launcher from the market and within the last few weeks it has been freezing up and force closing a lot...enough to make me want a new launcher for sure.
I could always get LauncherPro again or use a Froyo launcher (seems like the one I have was ported for Froyo anyway) but I really would rather have stock GB.

i've been using zeem launcher and at first i was skeptical, but after using it, i really like it... its sleek, minimal, and smooth...
Hey guys I have been thinking about trying a stable aosp rom for battery life and to experience stock again. I hear cyanogenmod and salvagemod are good. What about kernels? Which would you recommend for aosp roms?

Deck's Gingerbread with Tiamat 3.3.8 kernel.
Awesome.
Don't consider, DO IT.
CM7 + Tiamat 3.3.7 or 4.0.2, both work excellently.

I tried CM before but it always seems to take a long time sending text messages. Sometimes it would even pause when I would select an app. It's very weird. I stuck with the original CM kernel so I'll see if changing that makes a difference. Thanks for the advice!

You may have just had a slight glitch or pause, but its very smooth. Everything in working, though in the 2.3.4 nightlies [62+] the MMS isn't working correctly yet. Nightly 72 is just about close as you can send, an mms will show up in your inbox, but can't download.

Launcher Pro -Glares-
Its not aosp, but its not Sense either... check out MIUI too with a tiamat kernel. Its still my Rom of choice. Great battery life and themes.
I just switched to Deck's gingerbread with Tiamat 4.0.2 and it's pretty good so far. I'm not much of an ADW or LauncherPro kinda guy (not yet at least). I'll see how this rom works out and then I'll switch if anything happens
If I'm using a Sense-based rom then I wont use LauncherPro or ADW, but with AOSP roms, it's a must have for me.

Calkulin's remove sense was the best thing ever. How I got hooked on ADW. ADW EX is really fast on AOSP
Personally, i use launcherpro, and theme it to look like the default launcher... I think it seems to act quicker, plus being able to hide apps from the drawer and the widgets that come with the plus version are too much to beat.
Just started using go launcher and I'm liking it.. cm7.0.3.1 w tiamat 4.0.2 viperboy -100 extreme
midget tossing is habit...2010 midwest regional champion... hw 001

Hi everyone,
Any suggestions for ROMs to try out on my Desire?
I've run both cyanogen and MIUI and I like them both... but trying some more out would be fun too.
A link to any suggested ROMs would also be appreciated.
Oxygen 2.3.1 with GO Launcher EX. (GB 2.3.7)

for trackball wakeup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063578
I'm Using Oxygen for a long time now.
even thought it isn't heavily customizeable as the CM7,
it has enough feature as setCPU, power widgets on top...
but! the main feature is speed. it's working extremely smooth, and latest gingerbread.
i love it.
I've used and tried a lot of roms for both AOSP and Sense. I do prefer AOSP. I used to use CM7 but I use MIUI now. Want keen on other AOSP roms.
Punched in..
At the moment I´m testing between Revolution 1.7 and Runny 3.x
Revolution seems stable, but sense 3.5 looks good.

Looks interesting, I'll give it a try. I find MIUI very smooth too, and the battery life is also great.
I dont think you even need to guess what ROM I use
I'm using this sense 3.5 candy.
Stock GB by Neophyte. And I'm through with constant flashing. I had enough of that nice big cup of bugs.
SwiftKeyed from my HTC Desire using XDA App.
GingerVillain 3.3 (aosp), RT's 3.1 HAVS kernel, Go Launcher Ex.
Smooth, stable, no lags or fc's, good battery life, launcher is highly customizable. Keep trying Sense rom's (3.0 and 3.5) but always come back to this
Cyanogen 7.1 and I love it.
Insertcoin Sense 1.1.3..
...although I'm getting tempted by Sense 3.5 Roms.
I use Redux 2 . Clean, fast, stable.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
AOSP ROMs are the best for me (IMHO, sense roms are too overloaded) and there it's currently rootSU's dGB rom which is the best for me. Smooth (smoothest AOSP ever used), clean (uses only 60 MB of /system), stable and very nice battery life with ManU 1.4 (kernel)vipermod (for lowering CPU voltage) and setcpu (for controlling cpu frequencies).
But maybe I will test redux in the near future, because it was my first AOSP rom and I liked it very much. However, dGB hasn't given me any reason to this yet.
I thought you'd gone to cm7.1?

I'm using this one as well, currently version 3.6. Fast and stable, only minor bugs, looking forward to 4.0 w/ wifi fixed! Wish it had Google CarMode preinstalled though, can't get it running. And hope the bootlogo gets changed, that jingle is annoying.

I have decided to stay with cyanogenmod 7.2, it's fast and stable. I like the simplicity of Oxygen, but nowadays CM is pretty much the only gingerbread Rom that hasn't been discontinued. If someday there is some security hole that needs to be fixed, it probably will be taken care of. And they finally added increasing ring tone option in one of the latest nightly. That's something I always missed from my old Nokia...

Im just trying to figure out why the 4.2 Liquid Smooth beta release is so much faster than the other 4.2 ROMS. Is it because it is an AOSP ROM? I noticed the file size is much smaller than CM 10.1 or AOKP and was wondering if that could have something to do with it?

Task's AOKP is packaged with Nova unless you've decided to use the default launcher instead.
