Hi everyone,
Any suggestions for ROMs to try out on my Desire?
I've run both cyanogen and MIUI and I like them both... but trying some more out would be fun too.
A link to any suggested ROMs would also be appreciated.
Oxygen 2.3.1 with GO Launcher EX. (GB 2.3.7)
http://forum.oxygen.im/viewforum.php?id=7
for trackball wakeup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063578
I'm Using Oxygen for a long time now.
even thought it isn't heavily customizeable as the CM7,
it has enough feature as setCPU, power widgets on top...
but! the main feature is speed. it's working extremely smooth, and latest gingerbread.
i love it.
I've used and tried a lot of roms for both AOSP and Sense. I do prefer AOSP. I used to use CM7 but I use MIUI now. Want keen on other AOSP roms.
Punched in..
At the moment I´m testing between Revolution 1.7 and Runny 3.x
Revolution seems stable, but sense 3.5 looks good.

Looks interesting, I'll give it a try. I find MIUI very smooth too, and the battery life is also great.
I dont think you even need to guess what ROM I use
I'm using this sense 3.5 candy.
Stock GB by Neophyte. And I'm through with constant flashing. I had enough of that nice big cup of bugs.
SwiftKeyed from my HTC Desire using XDA App.
GingerVillain 3.3 (aosp), RT's 3.1 HAVS kernel, Go Launcher Ex.
Smooth, stable, no lags or fc's, good battery life, launcher is highly customizable. Keep trying Sense rom's (3.0 and 3.5) but always come back to this
Cyanogen 7.1 and I love it.
Insertcoin Sense 1.1.3..
...although I'm getting tempted by Sense 3.5 Roms.
I use Redux 2 . Clean, fast, stable.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
AOSP ROMs are the best for me (IMHO, sense roms are too overloaded) and there it's currently rootSU's dGB rom which is the best for me. Smooth (smoothest AOSP ever used), clean (uses only 60 MB of /system), stable and very nice battery life with ManU 1.4 (kernel)vipermod (for lowering CPU voltage) and setcpu (for controlling cpu frequencies).
But maybe I will test redux in the near future, because it was my first AOSP rom and I liked it very much. However, dGB hasn't given me any reason to this yet.
I thought you'd gone to cm7.1?

I'm using this one as well, currently version 3.6. Fast and stable, only minor bugs, looking forward to 4.0 w/ wifi fixed! Wish it had Google CarMode preinstalled though, can't get it running. And hope the bootlogo gets changed, that jingle is annoying.

so I love launcher pro....so sense or not doesn't really matter. Which ROM do you guys use if you use LP as a home screen?
I'm using uncommon sense right now, but not using half of the features since LP overrides them. Just looking for a quick ROM that doesn't have stuff i won't be using.
Thoughts?
I too am a LP fanatic. Try Lou's latest "senseless revolution". He has stripped the ROM of nearly all sense. Also try his kernal #4. This ROM is super smooth and has outstanding battery life.
I use CM 6.1. Works great.
Senseless Revolution with Cortland's Orange LP theme is nice.

Definitely the new senseless rEVOlution

digging the senseless rom so far. not a fan of the kernel though. Havn't really used it all that much, but don't like that i can't overclock it. any suggestions??
I use the new IncRom version 1. Super fast, descent battery life. No bloatware. Obviously everyone likes different things. I've tried every Rom on sea for the inc and this continues to b my go to ROM. Happy hunting. Peace.

Another +1.
This is my first custom ROM experience on the Incredible and its snappiness feels very much like our Incredible 2 that got its Gingerbread OTA last month. Thus far it's been solid, too.
Despite all the interesting ROMs out there to try, I'm getting stuck on Stock Plus v2 very quickly.
- ooofest
Any of the stock leaks with tinys latest. Only sense 1.0, but everything works, zero lag, and amazing battery. Faster than cm7 or any of the aosp roms. 3.5 sense is not even close to being as fast on our phones.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Every time you go up on sense versions the ROMs get slower and slower, stick to sense 1 and you're sure to get a fast ROM. All gingerbread ROMs have bugs tho so some of the older sense 1 froyo ROMs are probably less buggy...

Answer: Jermaine's stock plus
I've installed Jermaine's Stock Plus on my Incredible and several others
for friends of friends. The experience is just like HTC and VZN intended,
but without all the junk that slows down a cold stock phone. Before
flashing his ROM, I deleted a couple other apk's that I wouldn't be using,
and made it FAST FAST FAST no lag anywhere and it only sips the battery.
Can go on one charge til end of day, using it for phone, Maps, and txting.
It's a great daily user with no force closes or problem apps.
Props to all the devs who worked on the end result!
ITSA FINE!

apk's removed from Jermaine's
Facebook

Friendstream
HTCFacebook
HTCFootprints
HTCFootprintsWidget

com.htc.TwitterWidget
Teeter
Taking these out did not cripple anything else running on the phone.
Be careful, though: removing others may result in an unstable install.

You don't get the constant sync issue when removing Friendstream.apk?
constant sync
re: removal of Friendstream.apk --
No constant sync here for Google Contacts and Calendar plus Weather.
I'm not using Exchange.
If you run Exchange, that may happen. I think it needs Friendstream.apk
to run OK.
Did you guys thank Jermaine for you and your friends? LOL. Sooooo kidding.
Jermaine's Stock+ or, if you can live without the widgets and launcher, Jermaine's InSensitive Minimalist. They are both superb.
And yes, please thank the man already!

If you remove Facebook and Friendstream, should be fine. I remove those on every Rom I flash without issue.
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
I've only seen the sync issue once before and that was on an older GB rom. I haven't seen or been able to replicate the issue on the newer official OTA based roms.
I love Sense ROMs, but I hate Rosie. The polish of the core apps is worth sticking with a Sense ROM, but i much prefer any other launcher.
Having said that, what is the best / smoothest Sense ROM to use? The 3D stuff isn't as important to me as I will change the launcher.
Then change the launcher.

Of course I will change the launcher.. but the question was more geared towards asking "what sense ROM is the best, assuming I won't be running rosie".
I went with Runnymede v5 and it is excellent. Love everything about this sense rom, except rosie of course!
I made a lite version, stripping out Rosie and all of the htc widgets and bloatware.. running very smooth.
Well theres your answer then, if its the latest sense lockscreen you want. I hear Runnymede is smoother than the sense 3.0 roms.
If you're not bothered about lockscreen though, Probably one based on GB 2.3.3 will be smoothest.

Not really bothered by the lock screen as I use WidgetLocker and I can get the Sense 3 lockscreen sliders.
very happy.. I get the best of both worlds.
I'm with Runny 5.2 with ad2sdx-1.0-RC01 Cript by amarullz And this is the best sense 3.5 rom i've ever had ... try it

Yeah, i'm using it, but I find that I sometimes get some lag spikes. I don't know if it is because of that ADX2SDX script, (using a class 6 sdcard)..not sure if it us quick enough to deal with ext4. Perhaps I'll try flashing the latest and see what happens.

Like the others suggested it all kind of depends on how you use your phone. I used mine as mp3 player and about 1hour of browsing a day. Only occasional calls a texts, but I found the latest oxygen gingerbread rom with launcher pro plus to be great.

Any Sense ROM
I get 36 hours using it normally on any Sense ROM (2.1, 3.0 or 3.5)
etc. ncessuch
I have dont have the most experience but of the roms I have tried, I found MokeeOS to have the best battery life - about 36 hours with texts, facebook & email checking and maps use.
I have used the following ROMs
1. stock sense
2. MIUI-AU
3.MIUI-XJ
4. MIUI Mararge
5. MokeeOS
6. Jellybean pre-alfa
I like MokeeOS the best but really like some of Jelly Beans features even though not everything works

Hmmm, in general Sense ROMs are the most battery-draining of all, especially the 3 and 3.5 ones (just imagine that the stock Desire came with just a version of Sense 1.0).
Rule of thumb is that the more "stripped" the ROM, the better the battery life will be. Therefore any AOSP ROM will generate maximum battery life.
It depends, but you can try any of the miui ROMs, or if you prefer sense ROMs you can try aurora.
A AOSP like oxygen or CM based rom should be fine.
For CM based kernels use ManU HAVS BFS Kernel or CronMod Kernel. Both are great oh battery!
For oxygen use Thalamus kernel or mod8 (which is the same thing with Smartass cpu governor).
Hi all,
I'm currently looking for the fastest / best performing HTC Desire Rom.
As I'm playing Ingress, its really slow and closes very often. I was thinking flashing a Rom without Sense, as it would probably perform better.
I guess 2.3 is faster than the new built? Or is it the other way around?
Let me know if you have any suggestions, or if I should use a 2.3 no-sense Rom?
Regards

I would recommend AOKP VJ 4.2.2 Jelly Bean v2.1. In my eyes it is one of the fastest, smoothest and most stable CM 10.1 based ROMs at the moment. I appreciate that it constantly keeps the mem free above 100mb.
i'd say Mildwild roms are the fastest and most stable.
Been using them for a long time now....still very pleased with them.
They have a few small issues, but overall...the fastest roms available if u ask me.
Currently running MW9.5 Redux, but used MW8 before....i find MW8 a little bit faster and better...it's got a few more options than MW9.5
...hoping for and upgrade of the MW8 version....
Wanted to say thx for all your suggestions. I'm running 4.2.2 VJ CM 10.1 now, and its awesome.
Pretty fast, and i got plenty of RAM, so Ingress does not close when minimizing (not everytime at least)
Thx! :highfive:
