I don't get it.... it looks like you just hacked a case apart and glued it to the back cover. Am I missing something?

One day I am going to get a CnC milling machine and make the dopest custom cases for any phone.

$40,000 machine to make cellphone cases okay
Wife won't let me get $65.00 dremel to properly mod cases I have.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium

I'm confused on this one myself. You explained steps took, but what is the point of this mod to begin with? I've looked at the pics you provided several times and its just not coming together for me. Not trying to be rude in any way I just don't get it

I can dream, can't I?
If I had one of those I would probably find some time to fan parts for bikes the guys on my other forum... Uh oh.

Made my own silver and white inc2

Well.. I saw the picrures of the white and silver inc2. i decided i had to have one. so i made my own. Let me know what you guys think.
By the way, the back is white vinyl. The front is glass etch vinyl. The black lettering on the back is carbon fiber vinyl, and then red shadow is regular red vinyl.
If enough people want it, I will post a DIY guide.
Thanks to gdi2290 for creating the signature that I modified for the back cover. Here's the link to the post where he posted the signatures.

Looks good. The front reminds me of the Thunderbolt.
Looks kind of ehhhh. I think if you actually sanded off the metal faceframe and painted the back silvery, it would've looked better.
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA Premium App
I'd like to strip the anodizing off the metal and keep it black. I hate painted metal. Scratches easily.

Looks pretty nice. Reminded me of my white iPhone 3G because of the silver bezel/white back

Are you just saying that because of the rough trimming around the edges on the front? I didn't have a Sharp xacto knife to do it with. So I am going to redo it when I get one.

Bingo! Exactly what I was trying to say.
It looked pointy and uneven but after you scrape the bad stuff it would look nice.

Looks nice. I might have to try out something similar.
The front doesn't look as good as I had hoped. I was thinking about this before I saw the white one. I hope it smooths out

Cool! Does look like an iphone 3g tho

not to put ur work down.. but the front looks like a middle school kid painted over it. did u scratch the black off and paint it the correct way or just paint over? personally i could never use that. but to each their own. not knocking ur work.. internet is hard to tell, nice job but it's just not for me. a lil too sloppy (not that i could do any better.. !) but I guess thats why i havent messed with mine.
It was vinyl. I am going to paint it soon. I didn't even keep the vinyl on for a whole day because it wasn't smooth.

it looks like a better thunderbolt. if u can get that front correct I personally think that would look sick with the stock black back cover.

Otterbox DEFENDER review

Time to get this case reviewed right?
Honestly, if i had to choose between this and the commuter i would pick this one up. Feels really solid and after a 10 mile hike at zion with some drops , it proved its point.
enjoy

Yeah, u forgot one thing though. The builtin screen protector sucks. I just took mine off yesterday and added a best skin ever screen protector with my defender case and its awesome! Perfect combination.

That happen to mine, Within in a month mine was real loose, good thing I bought it at a local att store so they replaced it, had the new one for a few months and it's not loose at all. Maybe they had defects on some.

When you say a new case, do you mean holster/case? I was walking and my holster caught something and the clip broke off. The case is also squeaky and the lip of the case is getting loose and is starting to expose the plastic edges.

Cool. I'll fire off an email to them then. I have my zoogue cases and will probably order a UAG, commuter, or ballistic to hold me over.
Are you guys taking the case on and off frequently or just naturally happens?
And by proof, is the original packaging good enough?
Yeah the corners don't have a rail like the sides to snap into. They're sending me a complete otterbox to replace mine. Maybe they have fixed the design.

DIY Case from Book

I just finished making this case for my N8013. I used an old hard cover book, with pages carefully cut out, a thin piece of clear plastic, from the craft store (the kind used for tables and chair covers), and a LOT of duct tape. The bottom tabs which hold the tablet are made of duct tape and the top strap is of the clear plastic. The plastic clings to the tablet giving added security. I also made the stylus-holder from duct tape. Very convenient.
It's not drop-proof, of course, but it is pretty cool.

It's held on the bottom corners by the tape and across the top by the clear plastic strip. It's secure as the plastic hold and adheres to the screen (bezel area).
Regarding the blue (?) my note is grey, but I took the pics in a room with fluorescent lighting.

So gloriously ghetto. I love it. Nothing like putting a $500 tablet in a taped up old book.
You are aware that really nice cases are available on Amazon for less than $20?

Cibo Case,
http://tinyurl.com/a89v4kb
I got this case in clear. it's been awesome. the sides have this grippy texture that makes it tougher to slip out of your hands. i've dropped my phone countless times so far onto concrete & the floor and the case saved it from scratches on the display or sides each time. another great thing is the case doesn't add that much to the overall thickness.

Otterbox Commuter with OEM Samsung 3000mah Extended Battery

I'm just posting to let people know that I've personally modified my Otterbox Commuter to fit the oem samsung extended battery. I was able to do this by simply using an xacto-knife to cut a battery-shaped rectangle for the extended battery to stick-out through the standard batt. door that came with the device. Then I just slipped the silicone cover over my s3,flipped it over(screen down) and cut around the raised edges on the silicone that outline where the battery was pressing against the silicone, and after that I was good to go. At the moment I'm not able to take pictures.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app

I would have just left my battery door off instead of cutting it up.

Not possible with this mod. If you read my post it mentions i cut the slim battery door because the EXTENDED battery obviously wouldn't fit otherwise.

I was just meaning to not use a battery door at all, just modding the case and putting on the phone without it. That way, you could always put the stock battery back in without a hole in the back of your phone.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
What holds the battery in place? The hard cover of the otterbox?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Yes the hard plastic cover holds the battery in

I gotta admit it is pretty cool. Ive been thinking of getting a extended battery and the main thing holding me back is how bulky it would be and the lack of case options. But I love the commuter case and it seems to work. Does the case create a bump on the back when fully installed?

No, as the polycarbonate isn't flexible, it does NOT create a bump or distort the outer shell in anyway. The shell should remain perfectly flat, if installed correctly

this looks super interesting to me but i would hate to have to cut up my case in case i want to sell it in the future. i was thinking about getting a cheapo battery door to cut up and use but i was wondering if i could get away with not cutting up the rubber portion of the commuter case.

You will need to cut the standard phone back portion of the case and the rubber portion of the otterbox this will bring everything flush with the extended battery. The outer shell of the otterbox acts as the new back cover it works really well i personally couldn't be any happier with the result.

Could the defender be used if you just didn't put the battery back on? I am currently used a UAG case this way and it works good.
