Hi to evarybody!
i have an issue: i have a desire HD, and i want that the soft keys blink (or simply switched on) when i receve an sms or missed call on my phone and the screen is turned off.
My phone is routed and now i have ice cold sandwich rom vers. 8.4 aokp
the kernel is 2.6.35.14-LordmodUE 9.8.8 (that is included with this rom)
in this rom, in settings-->rom control --> led option --> there is "use BLN" , i have activated it with the flag, but when i try to test it with a missed call or sms, the sofkays remains off !!!
I know that there is also a BLN sotware in the market, i have dowloaded it, but is impossible to activate it because the kernel is not compatible!!!
What i have to do??
i come from gingerbread 2.3 where i used app "let me know" that have this function and works perfectly! with any rom of andorid 4.0 this app don't work...and also bln app....and also the settings included on the roms (i have tryed also miui...)
This function for me is very very important and much more appreciate....could some one help me?
THANKS so much!
marco

Let me get this straight. You want the home, meu, back and search button to light up when you receive a notification? If the answer is yes, I'll flash ice cold and take a look. I don't understand why it doesn't work for you.
Sent from a dream.
Get into the LED menu at RomControl, switch the function ON or OFF.
Exit.
Get back into the menu and switch it ON or OFF again.
Exit.
Worked for me, I had the same problem.

Hi!
i have try your suggest...and it works...but partially
i try to explain better: i switched on an off three times (with enter and exit on RomControl menu -> led notification) and finally i had swiched on the bln and then exit.
i try to send at my desire hd one sms....and the soft keys (home, menu, back, and search) was light on! (perfect!!)
then i delete the notification, i had lock my screen, the softkeys wos not lighted (perfect!!!).... and so i sent another sms... the softkeys light on! (perfect)
finally i have delete the sms notification, i locked my scree, i made a missed call....and when the my ringtones shut off, the screen became locked....the soft keys was NOT light on (NOT correct!) because if i look at my notification there is a missed call but the soft keys was not light on
i have also made another test...i have download from the market the bln free software, and when i open it, there is a message error: the bkn mod in son installed, and is not possible to activate it.....
thanks again to you and to all for all the answer!

jajaajaja..... with the amount of posts I have, this is the first time I use the laptop to post on xda. So that's how you guys get the bold, italics and all that. I used to type it in manually.... jajajajaja....
anyhow, Im charging my phone to flash ice cold, I had downloaded it when it was released to test it out, just hadn't had the time.
I did a search in the meantime. Read these and search a bit more to see if you find your answer. The first two are from other phones, the last one is for icecold.

Just lighten up the buttons works great with Ice Cold Sandwhich, but i want them to blink. Not just to light up, that means the 4 buttons (on, off, on, off) until i read the message!

Do you have set CPU set to 245MHz @ screen off?
no i dont, why?
Well that could be one cause, maybe it's a bad app causing your phone to temporarily freeze? Can you slide it the other way and ignore the call?

why do you suggest this? how do you know hes using kernels? im just trying to see what your connection to the solution is -its quite a specific answer to a problem that hasnt really been examined. what rom is he on, etc before you can start talking about kernels -- so can you clarify?
accept button - do you mean the slider? if you have cmod - just activate settings to disable lock menu/trackball/ whatever --also you could try the no-lock unless you have security issues.
if no cmod -- theres apps to reduce the lockage -- that may help you get your phone calls but still doesnt fix the problem? you could try enomther's and his awesome extra ssettings app has all those options
Thanks for your help, well it is my wifes phone and it is fresh from the store, just a bunch of apps installed.
I will try some things and see if i can figure it out. And yes it is the slide button, can that be switched for a push button, Is it theme based or in the dialer?? hope you understand what i say.

If its a stock DESIRE Z and not a G2 then I think it's safe to assume its got sense on it and not AOSP. Did you try hard resetting it? (power down and pulling the battery for at least 30 sec) other than that id check for any OTA updates in the settings menu. OR if you're willing/know how, you can root it and run CM or virtuous. Both ROMs are excellent. If you do that and the problem persists, it could very well be a faulty unit. You have a lot of options!
I found I had problems answering calls when I had a specific make of screen protector on the phone. As soon as I took that off and went back to a previous one I'd used then it was fine again ! It's a long shot, but I thought I'd throw it in there.
Problem solved, An update did the trick, thanks for helping out my friends,

Hi everyone,
I've looked for a solution all over the net, but seems like no one had this problem before (guess i'm a special girl...):
The vibrate feedback when touching the screen just stopped working, in spite of the settings under "settings -> sounds -> vibrate on touch".
It started after an update to AOKP rom - milestone 5 (based on ICS 4.0.4) + Franco kernel nightly r151, but effects all the other roms. Maybe one untouched system file damaged.
I've tried everything: restore from previous nandroid backup, another rom (CM9), another kernel, another launcher, I even wiped everything and flashed new and clean rom-stock from google developers' page. And yet - no vibrate feedback.
The wired thing is that the haptic feedback is working in few specific applications, like the build-in ICS keyboard and the dialer Dialer-One, so it probably not some hardware failure.
All this time there are five softkeys that still have haptic feedback: the buttons of the nav-bar, the button that opens the applications drawer and the google-search widget.
I've tried using "KickBack" instead, but it's too aggressive and very uncomfortable.
PLEASE, PLEASE - Help me!
Same thing happened to me. I had the exact same setup and the haptic feedback went away after I flashed the kernel. Since I've had lots of issues when trying custom kernels, I just restored a nandroid and went back to the kernel included with aokp.

Some kernels have haptic adjustment, see pic for kernel does.
I'm running Franco 152 and mines fine.
I know trinity kernels lower it

I'm also using Franco kernel, but I don't think this is the problem because i've tried some other kernels and none of them fixed my haptic.
Hi TaliKa
I've just had this problem myself but it happens long after I flashed aokp m5 + franco r152 (too) so I'm not exactly sure what caused it. However after I went to clear my cache and dalvik cache, everything seems fine again.

Yeah this just happened to me too. It was working fine for awhile on AOKP and then all of a sudden it stopped. No idea what happened exactly. I tried whiping everything and restoring CM9 but that didn't work either. I thought maybe hardware but the phone vibrated on boot so it isn't that. Hopefully we find a fix...

im starting to believe its a hardware issue (well at least for me) i mean i dont even get a vibration upon booting or turning off the phone...and i even went back to full stock...same thing
maybe it might have been some software issue that led to the overburning of the motor(doubt that though)
what is weird though is that the same scenario happened to us so im lost...
maybe i should start talking to samsung for my replacement
meanwhile...im very open to suggestions that might help my case
hope we find something soon...u guys, does it vibrate at all?when u turn on ur phone?turn off? unlock ?

Yes, it vibrates at boot and also when using application with it's own vibrate settings, like "dialer one" for example.
Did you try using KickBack just to check the hardware?
if it's some hardware issue, maybe you can apply to your warranty supplier about that, just flash stock rom and relock your device before.

Good to know. I went ahead and flashed the base image and it restored vibration, then I rooted and flashed AOKP again. It worked for about that day and then this morning when I woke up the vibration is gone again. I'm almost positive it's AOKP's software. I'll test another ROM (Android Revolution) for a day and see if it happens again.

Yesterday night I've updated Viber, and since the update the proximity sensor is always on, and glowing red, even with screen off. I've tried reboot and everything, nothing helped. I even wanted to do hard reset, but fortunately I've found it with google, that Viber causes it. After exiting Viber it is working ok.
Yes, I am experiencing the same problem with Viber on my Galaxy S3 since I installed the update yesterday. If I quit Viber, the sensor turns off, but then I'm unreachable on Viber. I hope that problem will get fixed soon.
Looks like you're right.
I wonder when Viber will release a version that works properly?

Hello everyone!
I just rebooted my HOX in SAFE MODE, that way it doesn't run any apps downloaded from the playstore. In safe mode, the proximity sensor's little red light was off, as it normally would be.
As soon as I reboot the phone and exit safe mode, the red light is on again at all times.
This issue appeared only yesterday and I installed 3 or 4 apps, so I deleted them all trying to find the culprit, reboted, and nothing happened.
I was starting to get a little worried.... But then, you guys mentioned viber and i remembered that last night I updated viber through the playstore! And viber is to blame!
All in all, great news! I thought my phone was broken. Now let's wait for a new update that corrects this.
hanks!

yup, definitely viber. wonder why... thanks for the heads up. i thought it is broken
Well I guess it uses the proximity sensor to detect whether you are holding the phone to your ear during a voice calls (I haven't tested this to see if it works; last time I was on a Viber call it didn't work, but it was also dark). For some reason they forgot to turn it on and off at the right time.
thanks
Thanks for this thread. I had just put my first custom ROM on my HOX and was getting worried that I had messed it up.
Hopefully Viber will get rid of this issue - I reported the issue to them as well.
Fixed
There's an update on Google Play that addresses this.
Proximity Always On
I tried upgrading to Lolipop 5.1.1 using two different ROMs in my HOX but both shows the same problem of proximity sensor always being on even withoug installing Viber. So I have to dial a call and after the call is deactivated the proximity sensor stays off but again after some time it lights back on even though the device is in standby mode. Some help here..
All of the sudden my screen wouldn't auto rotate in both apps and normal interface, i haven't downloaded any app recently so i don't think it is caused by an app.
Things i've done to try and fix it: - turn auto-rotate off\on in quicksettings notification bar, did the same in screen settings and again in accessibility
- calibrated g-sensor, which doesn't give any errors
- rebooted phone after calibration or auto-rotate setting change(multiple times)
- downloaded phone tester app and it can't find the g-sensor
I'm on the last update of Suprimou rom with titanium kiss kernel and have been on this rom for a few months now.
Any suggestions?

Thanks, im trying some methods out now, really want it to work again because i don't think htc would like it if i'd send a phone in with unlocked bootloader and this kind of problem.

Now it's working
happened same thing to me so returned to the stock then it was fine now again I'am rooted

I have my Optimus G E975 for few weeks and i observe sometimes the vibration don`t working well.To be more specific,i always use vibrations,in ringing, sms, notifications. But sometimes the vibration is not as it should. If someone calling me,my phone give a short vibration just for a second, and after this just ring, without vibrations.Other times, vibrate as it should.Same in sms, sometimes the vibrations are normally,a long vibrate, but sometimes it`s just a short vibrate.I use V10H Romania(it`s last firmware for my country) stock and rooted rom.

I've had this problem sometimes. I think it's to do with the last app that you had open when you last turned off the display. If you leave the messaging app open and turn off the screen, you don't seem to get vibration when you next receive a message. I guess maybe the same goes for calls if you leave the phone app open.

I usually close every app after i use them, cause i use an app to lock my phone who are on the home screen.Or you mean to kill them?
Thanks for your reply,i really appreciate and i personally search a fix for this problem. And so the vibrations are quite weak, with this bug sometimes you really don`t know if you recive a notification.
I do not mean to kill them, but just to return to the home screen before you lock it. That seemed to solve my vibration/notification tone problems. But if you're using an app to lock it anyway maybe it's not the right solution.
