Please explain your question.
He's asking if the camera on this device is high quality.
I ask which quality have photos from galaxy nexus.

Photos are cristal clear. Macro photos are excelent (1cm-2cm distance from object and still cristal clear and ibrant colors). My previews phone was LG 2X with 8mp camera and i can tell u the 5mp camera from nexus is way better.
Lol. Photos are decent on my GNex. Low light conditions usually cause pictures to become washed out, though.

:good:
My pics are very good. Indoors is OK to grainy. Outdoors is great. No issue. Better than I thought based on rumors but I am on paranoid android jelly bean.
what's the point trying to explain the quality, when you can see for yourself here? :|
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392436
The truth IMO is simple. He camera in low light isn't as good as say, as gs2 w sprint. My wife had one and it was phenomenal in all lighting. Excellent camera on that. BUT the nexus camera is much better than I expected. In low light on m jelly bean rom its adequate. But in sunlight it really does a nice job. Pics are crisp. Clear. Very good. Not amazing but better than you will read about. Owning the nexus is a very good decision in the right hands. If its stock its a good device. If you are a serious modder then it is 100% the greatest phone I have owned.

I've seen a lot of people complain about the camera on the Galaxy Nexus, people that had hoped the megapixels were higher like the SII. Well, to help put your worries to rest, check out all the pictures I took comparing the Nexus with the SII:

Is that a response to the OP...he doesn't claim that they do. article even states "the question that should come into your mind is, which camera has better optics, not which camera has more Megapixels."
Which city are the pictures from?
Nearly forgot it, thanks for the good comparison.

Good work!
Looks like the S2 gives more vibrant pictures but a bit unrealistic, seems it has more contrast too. Probably software related.
I think the Galaxy Nexus definitely focuses better from those shots (especially in macro mode) but perhaps isn't as good in low light, definitely more noisy and a bit more detail from the S2. Looks like some of that reason is that Nexus is choosing a higher ISO rating than the S2 in low light, meaning you can see more at the expense of noise.
Well one thing is clear, the SG II has a better camera (apart from night time shots).
Disappointing but oh well, I just wish my damn GN would turn up!

The galaxy s2 DO take panoramic pics out of the box. Please update your conclusion.
Based on the pics, my OPINION is that the galaxy s2 takes better pics in most conditions. However come night time and low light, the galaxy nexus takes better pics

When the photos are viewed at the max size you can see that the SG2 has the much better camera. It's not even close, fantastic pics by the way op. Makes it extremely easy to see which phone takes better photos. That said the nexus would still be my choice since I own a DSLR and don't care for taking photos with my phone.
The photo of the fruits are day and night, complete difference on GSII. The majority of the pics looked better on GSII.
Its like having the NexusOne camera all over again.

No it was a statement that everyone needs drilled into them.
I looked at the article on my phone but it didnt format the names properly so I don't know which column was which phone.
I would have said the left hand column took the better photos purely because they had more colour
EDIT: Looks like the GSII wins. Nothing a bit of photoshop cant fix if your that bothered though lol

The pictures were taken in London.
the GSII pictures have slightly better colors, but that seems to be the only advantage.
stop kidding yourself guys! there's no way the nexus has the better camera
in all the daylight pics, the SII is sharper, more realistic in colour, and much more like a real digicam...the nexus doesn't seem to be able to focus, the edges in the images are mainly quite blurry (could be a result of the quick shutter)
that aside, it does do much better at taking night shots!
Thanks OP for the comparison shots!

I completely agree that the colours on the SII look better, but the thing is, it looks better than real life. It's vibrant but too vibrant compared to the subject as it was at the time.
Looks like the classic "oversaturated colors" problem when doing comparisons is rearing its head in this thread.
That is, inaccurate but oversaturated colors looks better compared to a more accurate color image.

Hello, i bought a new Arc S. I found, that camera produces really low quality pictures. Is there any way to improve compression? I heard, that CM has a improved quality camera.
Thank you
Hello there
Unfortunately, there is currently no option available to improve the crappy quality of the camera output (compression).
Neither CM7 nor MIUI have any significant improvement in this area.
Are you sure you bought an arc because my arc takes good pics but it isn't an arc s but I find this hard to believe maybe your only taking pictures in the dark ?
Check your settings. Some phones have the camera set to poor quality from start.

I've bought an Xperia Arc S too about a month ago, but in my opinion the camera is fantastic! Maybe you have to set the camera in high quality. My camera was also standard at 2 MP 16:9. Now I'm using 6 MP 16:9 and the pictures are great, even in the dark.

I'd recommend 6 MP, because it has a 16:9 instead of a 4:3 format.
Mine works awesome with 8MP...
Could you post a pic made by your cam?

I would also recommend you post the picture you have taken, x10 and arc are best known as their 8M camera, they should be able to take impressive picture compared to all the phone available back then and even able to compete among all phones on the market to date

I don't understand people who say Arc camera is crappy.
It's the best I've ever used in a mobile phone to date.
It can't be compared to my compact camera but it's a phone after all
and the results are more than decent for quick shots.
I don't say my arc is perfect but It's not really that bad in taking picture .
I'm ok with it ...
Using 6MP 16:9,
maybe Your lens is dirty ! clean it if it's needed.
arc is one of the best camera phones out there.if not the best.

The camera is great - no 2 opinions about that.
But after I downgraded from .62 to .42 with data&system wipe, because of the root, my phone started to take really low quality pics in low light - identical conditions, the same camera settings, but now pics appear with a great level of noise, nomatter how I adjust the settings. On videos also. This is my second time downgrading from 62, the first time without wipe - everything was OK, but now I think smthing must have gone wrong - lots of noise and heavy purple dots...
Any ideas how to fix that, cause I really miss the good low light pics - one of the reasons I bought it.

Maybe some users are expecting a miracle out of arc's camera (e.g. comparing the pictures against DSLRs' large sensor and lens)
Its great for casual shots and videos imo.
It even won an EISA award.
The camera is great, the software is horrible. MIUI and CM7 support to change the jpg compression, which the stock ROM doesn't. The jpg compression sadly ****s up everything and destroys the overall quality of the shots.
I find the quality of the arc's shots to be great, I don't understand why so many people complain. Yes the output file is pretty small for an 8MP resolution photo because its been compressed to ****, but I don't really notice this, even when plugging into my 42" TV it still looks great (until you start to zoom in) Take a range of shots, when shooting in darkness you will find a decent amount of noise but this is just the Exmor-r working wonders - without it, you'd find you'd just have a very dark picture.
Like many people already said, I'm totally happy with the picture's quality of my ARC, especially on 6MP 16:9. I love the colors, the tones, the clarity.. I'm sure that Sony (still SE for me ) will improve a little about JPEG compression in next ICS release..

Exactly. Only my old Nokia N95 comes close, but that also was a little sony carl zeiss optic if i recall correctly.
Arc S camera is crappy.
I know it, because i used a Samsung mobile for a long time before Arc S, to take more than 4K pcs photos, so i can compare them.
It makes a lot of color noise under low light conditions of scenes.
Even a bit better when the light is enough, but then it makes white burned photos
The objective is distorted (fish eye aka barell), and also makes color noises in its corners.
The video record of this mobile is blurred, shaked, in low light condition makes color noises too.
You have to use Noiseware, or similar software to remove unwanted color noises from photos which are dotted by Xperia Arc /s
I don't know what is the meaning of the Exmore r, because i can't find a reason, maybe it' s only a commercial thingy
Sorry for my bad english.
I'm not 100% sure but after making some more shots I see that the photo quality of the new camera in low light is definitely better in JB compared to ICS.
Nexus' camera in low light in ICS was really terrible but now is not bad at all.
I see the file size of photos has increased as well.
What is your experience?

I would agree with you. I think the entire camera process has been improved. It seems to focus faster, images seem to be sharper with less effort, and yes low-light looks better.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
The camera takes beautiful pictures in well-lit environments, but it fails demonstrably in low-light areas and a lot of detail is lost if there's even a moderate lack of light. Why is the optics so bad? I thought everything that was featured in the iPhone 4S camera as far as back-lit senor and aperture were concerned?
So why does the iPhone 4S still capture more detail in low-light conditions than this phone? I thought they largely featured the same camera features as far as optics went. Is there any special way to alter how much light the lens lets in on the S III?
I am with you on this. My low light pictures are really bad... Really dispointing.

Did you use flash?
Mine look very good.
The best camera on an Android phone right now is on the HTC ONE X ans S, (just pictures), video is much better on the S3, but, there is a mod the get the HTC ONE camera to best the S3 on video. I'm trading my S3 for a HOX just because of the Camera.

Hi, I bought a Galaxy Nexus on august and it is a really good device, the only thing that I dont like about it is the quality of the pictures of its camera, is it just me or this device has a relly crappy camera?
Have any of you tried to improve its quality using the GNtoolkit or any other method?
If so, please advice...
Thank you very much
Lol the toolkit? really?
The camera performs poorly in low light, and nothing is really going to fix that except... more light. In well lit and composed pictures, the camera has the capability to produce good pictures. They turn out pretty well. This camera isn't the best, but isn't nearly as bad as people like to think. Just check out some of the pictures in the General section. Lots of great stuff in there. It's not impossible to take good pictures with the GNex.
Most issues with the camera can be attributed to the photographer, not the device. There are many camera apps that can help you achieve different affects with your camera (like HDR, scene modes and editing), and there are even some in the stock Gallery.
Don't use the 'zoom'
Beamed from my Grouper.
The best apps that I think produce good quality pics with the Gnex camera are Vignette and HDR Camera+. Honestly I don't ever use the stock camera because I feel they produce the worst pics.
I mentioned the toolkit because I saw an option there, so... Im pretty ****ed right? LOL

I think it is pretty decent. Again I don't compare pics with other phone because missing a few pixels isn't going to make huge difference.

I have found that the gnexus camera out performs my HTC sensation , lumia 800 iPhone 4s when it comes to low light pictures. They come out a lot less blurred and precise than the other phones. Day photos are perfectly good for a mobile phone. Want an amazing camera buy a SLR , Facebook photos it does just fine
