hey , i was just wondering when is the next Galaxy Nexus going to be released, Ive herd google is planning on releasing 5 new devices , i just want an idea of potential release date, price, and specs ,
No one knows. Probably won't be for a while considering they only just revealed jb and the nexus 7 to go with it
Swyped from a Galaxy S2
Next "Galaxy Device" Launch is on August 15...... But not the Nexus series, i guess
There might be a chance it won't even be Samsung.
I would love to see Asus give phones another shot.
Or even a One neXus from HTC would be amazing.
There are some rumours about the 5th of November 'cause Android is going to celebrate its fith birthday on this date - 5th Nov, 5th Birthday, 5 devices by 5 manufacturers
It was one device made by 5 different companies, not 5 new devices.

Hey You,
I've got an htc Desire for almost about 2 years now and I think it's time to get a new phone.
It's working fine though, but it fell on the floor, a part of the case broke off...
Now, what would You buy next?
I'm thinking about the Galaxy Nexus, but it's hardware seems outdated...
Would You buy the Galaxy Nexus or wait for Samsung Galaxy s 3 and htc Ville?
Which would You prefer, Samsung or htc?
Thanks
wait couple of months more
there will be MWC (Mobile World Congress) held in Spain, next week... mobile industry's biggest event. Just follow the new-comers there. You may even think of an LG, Panasonic (yes, it's coming back), or something else; after this event. And March Samsung will be announcing it's 2012 lineup.
Some kind of new era should begin regarding smartphones, in order to change Desire to something else. Because, to my opinion still all the android phone experiences are more or less the same.
First of all, thanks for Your reply,
Well, I think that means for me that won't get myself a Galaxy Nexus, I'm going to wait some time for the new Quad-Core-Machines
At the moment SGS2 is best option but if you can wait then quad cores would be there soon.

I can't wait... But I also don't want to have already an outdated phone in a couple of months.
But that's Android, I guess, You get a new phone and there's already a new one out.
I'll wait for release of s3, then I can compare it to the other new handsets of MWC12.
Thanks for Your reply
Hi everybody
Currently on a Desire HD, development has dried up a lot and considering moving to the nexus line of phones next time. My contract finishes in mid November. Now my question is, will there be a new Nexus phone available by then? Is that the prediction based on the release dates of the previous phones?
And if the prediction is that there will not be a new model by then, would it be wise to go for a newer phone such as the HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy S3?
Thanks in advance for the help guys
Must likely one will be out, our out soon. But hey a galaxy nexus right now is only three hundred and fifty new
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Hopefully a new Nexus will be out then. I paid an extortionate price on my Desire HD contract just so I could get a cheaper deal on the second phone lol, was just thinking I dont want to go for a year old phone when I get a new 24 month contract.
Oh btw, does development for the nexus phones go on for longer than the other "regular" phones? DHD and Desire are pretty much finished, everythings a bit cluttered and broken because of hardware compatibility and that for ICS. Official kernels take forever to arrive. I imagine Nexus phones dont have that problem?

Most probably there will be a new Nexus phone at the end of the year, along with the rumored Nexus 10. But the new phone won't be $350 like the GNex is now

I am fine with the higher price just as long as it isnt extortionate. Something around what the GS3 is now I could live with.
Do Nexus phones have a longer development support time than other phones such as HTC's? Would there be a lot of development for several years to come or does it seriously slow down after the new Nexus model is released?

On a Nexus S now.... It's slowed down but not bad. It's definitely not dead.
I'd say you're usually SOL after a couple generations. Nexus One owners are probably in a very similar boat as you Desire owners currently
I dont know about a new nexus being out by Christmas but I'm pretty sure the next nexus will be announced at least. I'm thinking the next Nexus will be made by Motorola.

Google has only officially been able to work with Motorola for about a month. No way they have already worked on a phone design that will be ready by the end of the year. Plus, if they come out with a single Motorola phone as the next Nexus device, then Google will piss off all their partners. It would be the worst thing they could do and Google knows it.

Out of curiosity, what's your beef with Samsung's build quality? I've never owned a Motorola phone (not since the Startac anyway), so I can't speak to that. I do know that my Nexus seems better built than my HTC Evo 4G.
Remember next November the 5th its android's 5th anniversary and there's 5 nexus devices to be released on that date

I wouldn't hold your breath on an new nexus phone by the end of this year. Nexus phones aren't really released by a time basis, meaning once a year, even though it seems like it. Nexus devices are released along side new software versions. So I highly doubt we will see a new Nexus phone running Jelly Bean. If we were it would have been released along side the Nexus 7. I think our best bet for a new Nexus Phone will be when Key Lime Pie is released. I honestly don't see that happening by the end of the year. Not when most Android devices aren't even on ICS yet. I think it will be about 9-12 months before we get key lime pie, and once we do we most likely will have the next generation nexus phone.

God I hope not. I have never been impressed with Motorola phones. IMHO Samsung as the best phones. Honestly I wouldn't mind if Google released AOSP phones on different device manufactures at the same time. But, I guess this is already rumored.

Has this been confirmed? I thought it was only a rumor. Also some articles I read put the Nexus 7 and Nexus Q among those five devices.
Nexus development lifespans far exceed regular OEM devices. Remember they get the software first no strings attached. So everything in this years development cycle ICS will be the same for next year JB etc. And it'll go on as long as the hardware is compatible. My friends running a Nexus S w/ JB. And when the GNex dropped he swore it (Nexus S) ran ICS better than the GNex. Seems like you already know this but just want confirmation. So here it is. As long as your Nexus' hardware stays relevant, you'll be in on the latest software development

Hmm you have a point. Judging from the wiki on Android version history though it does seem like there is a major (not incremental) software upgrade every 8-12 months, with the exception being 2.0 to 4.0 (for phone users, skipping 3.0 Honeycomb) which was about 15 months. So keeping to that timeline, I would think it is possible they release the new version of Android either at the end of this year or early next year because I dont think Android 5.0 will be as big a step up from ICS as ICS was from GB because most of the fundamental work I would say is done with the main ICS and the Jelly Bean incremental, its just a matter of adding a few features here and there and cleaning it up slightly.

Thats true, but I was judging from the wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history) the times between major versions of Android.
Cant find anything on it. Im looking for a used Nexus to replace my crappy LG 3D (probably the last lg I ever buy) but the phone is almost a year old and I dont see why they wouldn't release a new one sometime before christmas and to help kick the dirty apple in the butt.

IMHO a date for a Nexus depends on the android update cycle rather than the market.

That wasn't the case for the Nexus 7. They pushed out the minor "Jelly Bean" update just for the release of the Nexus 7. Normally, they would of waited another 6 months for Jelly Bean. Android's release schedule certainly factors in, but it's not the only factor. Clearly there will be a new phone by the end of the year or early next year regardless of the next major Android release.

And if I was you I would just pick up a used Nexus now. It is such an awesome phone that you will be happy with for a long time. Then whenever the new Nexus does come out you can decide if you want to wait 6 months or so for the price to drop on it or sell your used Nexus and go out and buy the new one right away. But I am predicting the new Nexus is not going to be that much better than the current gen Nexus so it would probably be wise to just wait until the price on the new one drops.
October, November or December you will see a new Nexus or Nexus's with the next version of Android (4.2 or 5)
I read once that Google will come up with several Nexus devices at once. (Maybe produced by Motorola Mobility which is a part of Google)
But as you know, Google would tell you, if there a new phone in the near future. Referring to the commercial that came up before the GN presentation... "somethin big is coming".

it won't most probably.. sammy doesn't give more than one major update to phones which aren't flagships (S & note series- not Neo)..
we'll get KitKat within the next couple of months hopefully! then we will be dependent on devs for further updates.
PS- next android version is lollipop if I'm not wrong..

n3n is selling it is not finalized yet but i will be finalized later i think take a look at screenshot.

it is good in nexus 5 and waiting for ours..
I sometimes wish that I hadn't bought this phone . I could never whole heartedly enjoy my phone since somewhere I knew there are very few chances of this phone being updated. I still wonder how samsung manages to still sell so much without timely updates for all of its devices. Not buying samsung again probably for the next few years until I see an improvement
Will stick to sony or Motorola or nexus series next time
This phone would no way get updated to Android L this year. May be six months from now in 2015 after Note 3 gets updated .
Even Nexus devices (Nexus 5) no longer get updates quick . It's all a matter of time
When the release date ?
Only Google knows for sure but it looks like the phone will be announced on the 19th October and released a couple of weeks later (end October).
This is based on leaks so we don't really know.
It supposed to beat iphone 13 series so why so late
That's quite a narrow view.
Google always announce their phones around October time (the Pixel 5 was a day earlier at the end of September). They are sticking to their own schedule which is much better than reacting to the competition.
In short, they aren't late, people are just impatient
Supposedly unveil Oct 19th and pre-orders open. Devices delivered Oct 30. Really hope it is sooner or this is going to be the longest 5.5 weeks ever.

Tell me about it! I have my Pixel 5 for sale on eBay and it will get sold by end of September so maybe have to go a month with an older phone. Trying to find one as my old old old HTC 10 is properly ruined.
Mid October hopefully...
One long month to wait
Really hope that we will have a surprise and it will be unveiled on the 27th Sep.
The new chip is promising
I say this every year but I really think Google's release cycle is odd.
Announced late October likely not in the shops until November, months after the iPhone and flagship droids for the year.

I think it makes sense. No other big android releases during that time, also, just before holiday season. You know, a lot of people buying phones for people lol. And a few weeks before black Friday (week now), so us fanboys who can't wait go buy ours at full price, then in November drop the price so people holiday shopping have more incentive to buy one.
The pixel 6 page on the Google store says "coming October 19th." Wouldn't it be cool if that meant they will be available on that date? They did that with the 4 if I remember correctly. Not holding my breath, just a little too excited.
