Since RC1 and RC2 seem to be, well, not candidates which nightly is the consensus favorite?
I remember having some luck but troubles seem to come and go, was there a nightly where the moons aligned?
Actually RC2 is one of the best ones right now.

Cool, I'll do a full wipe and try it again. I was just wiping data and cache and installing over RC1.

Ummmm.... which one should I flash??
Oh and why
Thanks =)
The Nightly's has fixed some issues in the last RC. Flash the Nightly.

The latest nightly obviously is more up to date, and it of course has the fixes that the RC2 doesn't. I don't think anyone will tell you that it's any more or less stable than the RC2. For most people, the GPS has been fixed in the last few builds as well.
If I had to give a recommendation I'd say flash the nightly, the RC2 is quite old at this point as far as builds go.
Which to flash
I believe you have to flash RC2 and then the latest nightly over it, but I could be wrong on that, its just what I always have done. In fact I suggest you flash the new nightlies every time they come out. There have been a couple of times where the new nightly has screwed up more then it has fixed but the majority of the time its an improvement. Actually let me correct myself. usually I don't notice a difference however if you read the discussion forum for the nightlies then you see the problems that people had been having and are being fixed so its nice to know that if you had tried what they did it will now work
well im switchin form cm7 nightly to the cm7 rc4...n i wanted to see if someone could point me to the direction on gettin the latest gapps...and also if its possible to get the wrong gapps flashed or r they all the same no matter what rom u flash???

The gapps r the same. If ur looking for them check out the cm7 thread. There is a link within the first post or two. They r universal now.
If you're just updating between, you don't need to flash. Also would recommend the final version over RC4.
Latest gapps either way.

I think you can download the GAPPS from Rom Manager now.
thanks guys i was jus makin sure i had the right one cuz i was lookin around n i found the link to the gapps but didnt kno if there were updated ones.. thanks for the info

nighly's and rc's are both experimental. nightlys are released every night. rc's are released when the devs think the rom has reached a 'checkpoint'. you are allowed to post bugs about rc's not about nightlys.
btw stable is now out!!!!! i will personally be keeping up with any new nightlys but still that is a big deal. it's newer than rc4 btw.

you can find a link to 'github' on the original cm7 threads first post, there. and yeah, nightlies can be unstable, but can be more stable than the rc, too! for example, the nightly 110808 is much better than the rc1 in every aspect i think...

Can I install Nightly on RC1 version without wipe anything ? It means like a update from RC0 to RC1 .

You must wipe cache and dalvik before (and I suggest after too) installing nightly zip for reduce possible bugs, but not wipe data, so you can keep your settings and data.
Thanks, Nightly work way better than RC1. I've installed cm7-110814-0202-NIGHTLY-Jordan
thank you guys, it is puzzled me too, but now it is clear. thx.
im using miui,it built on android 2.3.5
im now on cm10, can i just boot into recovery do a full wipe and flash cm9 (stable) to my nexus?
which one you guys think its better cm10 or cm9 stable?
thanks in advance
There is no cm10 stable at the moment. The cm10 nightlies are stable enough, plus it's jelly.
Try it, thought it's practically the same experience besides os differences and project butter.

cm10 for sure, its stable.
project butter is too buttery not to use

Not exactly. While Monthly's are more stable than Nightly's, it's still not a "Stable Release".
So order of stability: Stable Release (10.0) > Monthly Release (10.0M1) > Nightly Release (10.0N38)
Source: CyanogenMod Blog
To OP: I would suggest you try out CM10 Monthly 1. Should be perfectly stable for everyday use. If you find instability, then go ahead and go with CM9. As far as how you flash it, yes, that's how you flash it.

Latest CM10 nightly is on 4.1.2. Even though it says nightly it is stable for everyday use, don't be scared because it says nightly.
Just try it. I'm always on nightly and never experience any problems.

Nightlies are stable for the most part, the only bad thing about nightlies is that coding the devs have done is sometimes merged without proper testing, which can cause some instabilities. This is NOT a dealbreaker though since the bugs often are fixed/rectified the next nightly.
Find a nightly you think are stable and stick with it

It has to be approved before being officially merged unless you use a unofficial version such as Jellybro. Although sometimes they are merged and then removed so yeah you are right to an extent.
Chances of instability are pretty close to slim as CM on Nexus are pretty stable. Although, if anything does happen--they can just say, "oh its a nightly."
What I'm basically saying is that, just because it says nightly... don't be afraid to flash or try it out! It is very much stable
I've been running CM10 for a while now, but haven't updated it since 11/1 due to some of the issues I've seen in the nightly thread. Is it safe to assume that the stable release has most of the issues ironed out? I'm a bit hesitant because of what I've seen, especially since some of the things I've read about the 11/11 release. Should I update to the stable or nightly 11/14? Or should I wait for a few more builds before updating?
Thanks for your help guys.

Most of them are ironed out. I would try the 11/14 ( havent checked commits lately but i dont think MUCH has been added if anything) if you arent already on a later build.

Ooohh...I just noticed that CWM is getting GApps 7/26. Should I flash the 10/11 on top and wipe dalvik again?
