Fastboot & ADB mode not working but charging is? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I don't know what caused this but my PC isn't detecting my phone being plugged in at all. It IS charging though, but no storage is mounted, windows isn't trying to install any drivers, ADB not detected, fastboot not detected, even when boot into download mode, Odin is not detecting the phone. Any idea? Could it be that the USB port just crapped out just like that?
I'm on AOKP JB euroskank build + Trinity kernel when that happened. Also I tried to apply V6 supercharger.
Any idea?

I really wish it was this simple. I suspected its a bug related to fastcharge too. I have flashed to AOKP ICS B40 (I can't toggle it in JB P3 build & the euroskank build, the toggle doesn't work at all), to try to toggle fastcharge, but it isn't working either (I can toggle it on off, but it isn't working). I have wiped multiple times between flashing each rom too.
Is there a way to explicitly disable fastcharge?

Make sure that USB Debugging is enabled and correct drivers are installed.
Also, you may want to try connecting the device on a different computer.

USB Debugging is enabled, I even turn it off and turn it on back to make sure. I even checked my MTP settings. The drivers are installed too, because before this they were all working fine. The drivers shouldn't be the problem. If the drivers aren't installed the PC should prompt me to install it, but it isn't doing that.
The only thing I have not try is connecting it to a different computer.

Nevermind, turns out the culprit is my PC. Its messed up for some reason. Everything works alright after a restart.

[Q] pc recog in fastboot mode but not in normal boot. help

Hello ..
So yes, as the title says.
I realized that pc doesnt recognize my phone in normal boot mode.
Am using dark paranoid 2.521 toro, with franco kernel r298.
Ofc the fast charge is off, nd the cable plus usb port of the pc is fine.
Funny thing is that my pc can recognize my phone in fastboot mode. This tells me my phone's usb port aint broke either.
Yet whenever I turn my phone on, wont charge and pc wont detect it.
I tried to change the governor from interactive to ondemand, along with the IO scheduler from deadline to noob, yet nothing happened.
Can anybody please help me?
Are you trying to get adb or MTP access? What is the operating system on your PC?
.
Either one. Mtp mostlikely.
Pc or even charging off from portable battery pack aint working until I turn my phone off...
I am uskng windows 7 64 bit but also tried in 32bit pc, which ended up in not working.
"most likely?"
there are a couple of threads that discuss these usb issues. use search.
update your drivers? I've had something like this before, so I manually uninstalled my Samsung drivers and reinstalled the current ones using the GNex ToolKit.

I did, I did update my drivers, but phone just go dead on the normal boot. I think something is cutting the USB coneectivity during the boot precessing..

Have u checked on Device Manager to c if the phone is there. It should say something like Samsung or MTP if recognized by Windows, if not it should say Android 4.0(I think) with a yellow or red symbol.

Hi All,
Recently flashed the newest version of AOKP and then decided to wipe my laptop due to all the clutter that was accumulating.
I just finished installing the updates and etc and wanted to connect my phone to my laptop. I downloaded the drivers from the samsung website here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SGH-T989ZKBTMB
I installed the drivers then plugged in my cellphone (turned on) and it errored out. and no drivers were downloaded/phone was not recognized.
Any help here?
Thanks!

Try a different USB port. Take out the battery for a few seconds before you plug in your phone.
Thanks for the response!
I was wondering though if there is a method to not switch USB ports. All my other USB ports are in use/broken so I was wondering if there was a way to "reset" said USB port to "forget" that I plugged in my phone in that port.
Is this possible? Or does the USB port "reset" when I turn off/restart my laptop?
Thanks so much!
Did you turn on mass storage after you plugged in your USB?

how do you do that with an AOKP phone?

That's not what I meant. Mass storage is the default setting on AOKP. I meant after you plug your phone into the computer, you need to pull down the notification drawer and turn on USB storage...you'll see it'll say select to copy files.

He stated the PC doesn't recognize the phone...no driver found....so i don't think he can do that until the PC recognized the phone.
Again i am not on aokp so i don't know how the mass storage works on it. But on PAC which is aokp based that's what i have to do.

I understand. But the computer won't recognize the phone if you don't turn on the mass storage...I'm currently running AOKP

[Q] USB Debugging Mode not recognized

I wanted to update my ROM, so I downloaded the newest version of Hason2000's Toolkit and was ready to flash the boot.img.
I plug my phone in; both my phone and computer recognizes the connection. I notice that USB Debugging is required so I enable it.
Problem? The computer stop recognizing my phone, the phone sees the connection just fine.
I tried updating the drivers (several times), I tried installing the driver on another computer, no go. Turning off the USB Debugging fixes the problem, but then I can't flash the kernel.
My ROM is IceColdJelly 2.5.1 (old I know), any ideas? :crying:

You should be in fastboot to flash a boot.img.
USB debugging has no effect on fastboot.

Hason2000's All-In-One Toolkit needs USB Debugging to work, it appears to just automate the fastboot commands so I assumed doing it manually would be the same.
I guess I will try it after I DL the files needed, but I still don't understand why USB Debugging stops my computer from seeing the phone.

Yes the toolkit uses ADB to automate the reboot into fastboot mode.
And my understanding is that enabling USB Debugging changes the drivers required so that you can access the ADB interface.
I rooted and installed my first ROM using the toolkit, idk y it's different now.
I will try to flash via fastboot and then ask in the toolkit thread as well since these driver are the ones that the came with the toolkit.
EDIT: Whhhhooaa, did it! Cheers for fastboot

If you want adb usb drivers, i prefer to install moborobo from Moborobo.com.
Start application,
Plug your device with usb debugging on.
and it will do the work.

MTP and driver problems after attempting Wugfresh nrk

EDIT:
So I got it rooted, but MTP still won't work on my laptop, but works on my friends laptop What drivers does the first method install? I thought about upgrading them to official drivers. But when I tried to do that, it says I'm already running the latest drivers... Should I uninstall them and try to manually re-install these?

See if the following method fix your device, anyway it fixed mine, btw mine was running cm10.2
1) Go to system settings--->>storage
2) Choose USB computer connection on the upper-right corner
3) Have the MTP option checked.
4) Try connecting your device to the computer usb port again.

Tried that on PA, no luck
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
No one? Has anyone had any success with cm10.2 compared to stock based roms like PA?
me neither, can't even install the adb driver probably, although i've tried every way the nrt or nexus toolkit told me. T_T
with/without usb debugging, with/without mtp connection, using different usb ports, still no luck. Last thing i haven't tried is to connect n7 to another computer
This fixed it for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390296

No USB detection in Windows

I was having an issue with my i9250, my phone would not be recognised in windows when switched on normally, so I replaced the USB flex inside, and I'm still having the same problem.
My computer will detect my phone in fastboot mode, or in odin mode, but I will not be detected normally, nothing appears, not even unknown device, and I have enabled usb debugging, flashed mutiple stock images but I still have the same problem, have you got any more ideas for me?
Thanks.
what windows you using? did you enable usb conection on phone? if you are on windwos 8 look at softwere update to install new usb driver for our phone
Make sure you have the right drivers installed. There is a stickied thread that contains all the steps of returning to stock 4.3. I believe the first step deals with getting the right drivers and installing them correctly. I would suggest following those steps.
Connect phone in usb debugging mode and then Try to manually install the drivers from device manager.
Had the same problem
